How good is Brain? They're offering fiber in my area and I'm seriously considering ditching PTCL for good.

Yes these do support GPON.

They are Huawei OLTs that will only pair with Huawei ONTs at the customer premises. The upgrade project of Bahria Exchange here also has these. Not sure if they're installed yet or not.

You are right SMARTAX MA5600T is OLT and F01T500 is cabinet
Both olt and cabinet in the box

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
dude i think these are meant to be installed in exchange rather than in streets like current MSAGs

btw are these in karachi?

PTCL is feeling the heat of competition, but i believe they wont get any better even if they have greatest of all equipment, because of that lame and lazy culture

oh, wow, so they are stripping old big cabinets and deploying these smaller ones in your area ?

which area we talking about in karachi ?

so increasing the OLTs they are increasing the capacit, meaning in futurr they are all set to offer more than 100mbps speeds

Sure they will offer more than 100mbps in future thats why they are planing for gpon becuause of heavy competition specially in big cities.

murtaza12 remember how I was contemplating how I can get in touch with PTCL so that they can change the routing?

Well - I did. Over Twitter. And they eventually changed it. I told them that feedly.com is going to Europe whereas SEA has mirrors - I gave them TW1's trace and PTCL's trace, and then told them that if you ping (some) Singaporean IP, the pings are ~110ms or so.

They said 24 hours later that they had fixed it - but hadn't THEN, but is now. In fact, a few other websites have been routed through Singapore now as well.

So... I guess they just weren't told that they have better routes available.

Downstream seems to have been changed to that of an 8 Mbps connection.
What sort of download speed are you getting?

I think it may just be a fluke, otherwise this would have to be the first time in history that their customer support has ever entertained a request for change of routing.

Well - they've done something.

Wikipedia? Singapore.
Ultraimg (see the link in your post quoting REAL)? Singapore.
Twitch? Singapore (110ms). Twitch Hong Kong? 147ms.
Cloudfare's 1.1.1.1 DNS server? Singapore.
Feedly? Singapore.
CNN? Singapore (though I'm not sure whether it was Singapore originally or not).

These websites are the ones I've experimented (in addition to Feedly.com) which are now being routed via Singapore. Any other website we can try to ping and test where it's getting routed from?

Either they did it because of my request (who knows?) or they figured they could change the route for a number of websites (who knows?) - but I did link them to lg.nexlinx.net.pk - which is probably the ONLY reliable comparative tool we have without subscribing to two different ISPs. But I'd like to think of me being the reason for improving their pings ;)
