The highest I've gotten on Zong was 60-65Mbps - in one locality in Peshawar, and in the F6 cricket ground. I know in both places the tower was nearby, but it never went beyond this speed.

Mobilink? I've gone to 96 Mbps. [MENTION=36166]iNCEPTiON[/MENTION] has touched 100Mbps. I don't see Zong doing this because of the modulation in use.

Now, if Zong changes their modulation...

[MENTION=36166]iNCEPTiON[/MENTION], bhai I am currently based at Bahawalpur so 20-25mbps speed is perfectly fine for me. I was using Jazz 36gb package till last month and was facing a weird problem, at times torrent kept downloading fine by browser didnt work and show resolving host until device was restarted.

BTW with Jazz speed was also around 20-22mbps over here

Access ur mifi device and add manual dns like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and ur problem will be solved. Personally tested

Some more trimming of the Warid bush going around:
- jazz.com.pk is linking to a list of VAS which won't be available for new subscriptions from 14th May for new customers - all of these VAS are on Warid's network.
- waridtel.com says the same thing - but links to a web page on jazz.com.pk - which links to individual services on waridtel.com (!)
- waridtel.com also has the following ticker on its homepage: "Moaziz Sarif, Aap ki sahulat kay liay iss website ki tamam malumaat Jazz - Dunya Ko Bataa Do! par bhi mojud hai. 10th June 2018 say tamam malumat sirf jazz.com.pk per ho gi." followed by the same text, but translated into English.

This probably means they're closer to retiring the Warid brand, but holding onto the assets (i.e. spectrum and other things). Also, as a non-Mobilink user right now, I've noticed that when I don't have signals, the phone connects to 410 07 more often than it does to 410 01 when it connects to their network.

We know that Telenor is at least hair 3 out of their 6 MHz for Band 3 LTE in some areas.

As for Ufone, don't know, don't care. They should just quit operations now.

Well Telenor has 8.8 Mhz spectrum not 6. And they aren't using it anywhere except for 2-3 cities where they are testing 3 or 5 MHz for LTE. Their 4G expansion got a major blow after ZTE restrictions because all of their network was on ZTE unlike Zong and Jazz who were partially on ZTE.

Ufone on other hand is surviving all of their 2G traffic on its 7.6 MHz of 900 MHz. Than why don't they launch LTE on their 6 MHz of 1800 MHz? Probably because of finance, which they even don't have for 3G expansion. They should start sale negotiations with Telenor or Zong now. They have been done and dusted now.

I'm back on Mobilink. I initiated the port out request around 12, and the number switched networks by 3 - 3.15pm (all of this happened today!)

Came back for a few reasons:
1. Ported numbers don't play well with Pakistani services who send you SMSs for verifications or confirmations (e.g. bank SMSs).

2. 4G speeds.

3. 3G coverage (see the screenshot - this is happening at my house now):

4. I used to have major voice quality issues with Telenor in my bank building - and elsewhere too - there would be lots of glitches and whatnot, and when the call would fall back down to 2G, it was literally inaudible. I know when Mobilink fell down to 2G, calls weren't THIS bad.

5. I reported some SMSs to Telenor (on 9000) stating these are spam messages. First, I didn't get a confirmation from them, so I tweeted it out to them eventually, and they said "we'll look into it". Fair enough. But several weeks later, when I sent them samples again, they got back and said "this isn't spam". Uhh - if a message is unwanted, and contains marketing material, it is spam! This made me think perhaps they're the ones who are in this business.

What will I miss from Telenor? Their self care app. I don't think their network fits my requirements.

Tomorrow, I'll try to convert this to postpaid.
