The A is the A, 10 years ago and today.
The A* is a grade above the A.

Isn't it like this
A*=90% today whereas A=90% 10years back
A=80% today whereas B=80% 10years back
And so on

Wut -.- IIRC, it stated on my statement of results that A was above 80% and A* was above 90%. In one year, A became 90% above, and A* became 95% above... :/ CIE are changing their policies each year it seems.

You guys are confusing percentages and 'weighted' percentiles.

You can define the 90th percentile by 20/100 marks and you can define it by 95/100 marks.

It's worth it if you are really sure that your papers have not been checked correctly. An old friend who gave papers privately in 2010 got a C in Islamiat and after recheck, it turned into A and that also at 89% which was much near to A*. I think the fee was 7k at that time but I'm not sure about this time.

I heard it's 12k.

If it doesn't turn out good, then it will be wasted for nothing.

IMO your grades are good. Don't waste so much money if you're less than 100% sure there's an error in the checking.

I can answer the first question. It has become easier to score A's due to academies but the strictness in marking has also increased.

Can someone post the timetable for October/November session? Few friends of mine have to give the Pakistan Studies and Islamiat retakes.

I need advice whether I used start preparing for environmental management or not for O'levels. I'am thinking about appearing for it in may/june 2014 along with 7 other subjects. Is it easy enough to get an A* in it? Is it true that it is a half-credit subject?
