Man this phone is awesome. I downloaded the sega emulator the other day and I'm playing those epic sega titles. They are so much fun seriously.
Btw wanted to ask does anybody know what is the price of the "gamegripper" for n900 in pakistan? saw a video of it on youtube and thought it would be great to have it.

ikr? But I can play those on Symbian, Windows Mobile and Android phones too ^_^
I haven't heard of the gamegripper being sold anywhere but I do believe there is an import service for small items in the PG marketplace. Check it out there.

Dude I know. I'm downloading emulators a lot. Well the symbian, android and other os do have a lot capabillities too. I didn't deny that fact.

I've been a fan of the devices ever since I first used an N800 with the awesome dual SD card slots
Let me just tell you though: Phones don't have/need multiboot. Why would they?
You guys don't have a phone, do you? You've got a small UMPC with some phone features. It isn't that I have the Android for a reason, its because I chose to lol. If it was my money that half-baked box of electronics was very appealing (see my threads on the t.Maemo.o forum) but it wasn't, and so I needed a stable, polished device with some semblance of a future, no matter what features it missed out on.
In exchange for functionality I got practicality: easy one handed texting, a slimmer waistline with much more power, speed, integration with Google services (no OVI nonsense, sorry), and a lightning quick GPS with Google Maps Navigation.
I do regret not having those features but just picking up my phone is enough to make me forget about it.

I'll have to agree with the OVI thing but Maemo keeps me happy have all the apps i need
But even if it wasn't your money ... you had the option to buy anythin you liked
so technically you could've bought the N900 ... but maybe it didn't suit your tastes
but i can have Android too... NITDroid is almost about to reach to a stable OS for N900
(Though it still has a lot of things to cover up) and if Meego comes then i guess the problem is solved
hopin for the best and Founder of the Club pray for us to get Meego lol

Believe me if I had the money I would've bought it right now. And I didn't take it seriously, its just that I've seen more that one N900 user act like iPhone users, i.e. show off their device as if it was better than anything else. My somewhat adverse reaction to your post, I apologize for, even if it was a joke.
Oh and I don't own an N800, just used it once and fell in love with Maemo ever since.
Only thing is, I like Android more as a daily use OS and Maemo for a weekend hobby or casual use/backup OS. I see the N900 not as a fully polished product, but as an experiment (a very brave one) from Nokia to see just how much power they can feed the customer and see how they like it. It has its flaws, gaping ones, and its customer support is formed on a forum, but that is what makes it unique. Just not to my tastes for my primary device, is all.
And if by some miracle you guys get Maemo, count me in as an N900 owner. Android, Windows, Maemo, Meego; what more will this damn box do?

well i guess we should leave that for others anyway i bought the N900 knowing that this is not a typical touchscreen phone nor polished one
still i use it as a primary devce and i'm happy and i'm gettin my moneys worth ... i have no regrets (thanks to you ) and iPhone ppl need to get a life its not about apps at all

You're welcome.
And yeah the N900 is very pleasing to use everyday, and you have got more than your money's worth, I should say. But just the usability that Android brings you (and, admittedly, iOS) makes the N900 seem downright cumbersome. Holding it with two hands and poking at the interface elements in places where you've got your hands busy just gets old after a while.

Seriously it's like buying a fancy car, but getting just the shell. Oh yes, lacking seats? Just purchase them from the Store for $9.99! Lacking an engine? No problem! THIS engine is for just $34.99!
And they're still so obnoxious about it, as if it "extends the value of their device" and that no other device has ever had applications or folders or video calling.

I've seen very little Android or Maemo forums populated by pre-pubescent children demanding their cracked apps and trash-talking other phones as if their opinion actually matters.

(smugggnesss, you have the only semi-phone that can do Skype video calls )

Congrats bro ... If you have this version = 10.2010.19-1 then you are updated to the latest firmware
if not then you can simply use the nokia software updater
or if you want to update it the hard way refer to this tutorial

though i would recommend you the nokia software updater if you are new to this
or if you manually want to update then do go through the steps thoroughly
and make sure you don't mess up ... make sure which region phone you have

did anybody do the app called "mypaint" on the n900?
I was amazed on how that thing works. It also supports pressure sensitive brush and with all those cool brushes.
Must have app for the n900, i think.

N900 is more capable than just using mypaint on it
