What do you think overclocking is for?
A safe boost to 700MHz from 600MHz is extremely noticeable, everything is faster and snappier. it's only harmful if you exceed the temperature limits or overclock to a speed your system can't reach (which is only the upper limits, 1GHz, etc.)

If you feel the need for it; Go ahead. With all the usual warning and disclaimers though. I haven't heard anyone damaging their N900 by overclocking yet. Overclocking on Maemo is piss easy. Obviously the device runs MUCH faster. Everything feels faster. Pi calculates approximately 31% faster at 800MHz compared to 600MHz. I've been running mine at 1GHz for a month. Zero abnormal symptoms so far. Been using it quite heavily also and it's rock stable. Will be trying 1150MHz in a couple of days

lol alright though i heard 800mhz is the max i can do in this humid hot weather of karachi not more or the chances are that somethin might go wrong.. what do you ppl think? I'm thinkin of giving 800mhz a try... thanks hackm0d and R420R

Welcome to the "club" bro that is the lastest firmware to date ... though i don't think we'll be gettin anymore updates in future (meego might be possible but not officially)

Lol. I m not tweaking my phone abhi. I just love it as it is. It's browser and skype video calls. Mind = blown. Seriously!

Meego OS is in development stage which is being tested on the N900 for Handhelds (Meego is from Nokia and Intel for upcoming devices)

and same here i just got it too so i didn't even overclock it and it doesn't really need it now after a few months the real test begins for my N900

Okay I have 2 questions. I know the browser of n900 supports flash but when I play some videos on facebook it say get the flash player. I downloaded it. It showed many versions. The version I downloaded is there in my file manager but I can install it. A bit of help needed on this. =/

Second question. Where can I get vertsms? I really need this app. Exact link would be really helpful.

go to your app manager and then select download which will show you categories
select utilities and search for the Tweak Flash Plugin Version
download this application and install it (WIFI or GPRS Needed)
This might help you in solving your first issue

thanks for the link....but i was looking more for something that maybe has a few guides or tutorials (like for example, showing how to OC on the n900, or maybe just how to use the command lines on maemo)....i am a pretty technical person myself, but i've never dealt with this phone and never really used linux...so just wanted to get a feel for it...

Just search for the official overclocking thread on talk.maemo.org or the N900 wiki present there. Everything (literally, everything) you would want to do with the phone is present there.

Haven't used that application as i use the built-in virtual qwerty keyboard or the physical one (which is much better and easier)

i dont have an n900, but im just researching on it a bit to see if it would be a good phone for me to buy next...
