they are upgrading 4MB connections in stages. i was also enrolled a few days back but opted out becoz my copper wire connection couldn't take it and the internet was very unstable.

wait are these rates for 8MB future connections or 4MB? i dont want my 4MB to cost 3k with a 200Gb cap :S
No, its just a promo package you can take it if u like or keep using 4mb for 2100/mo
YES! I bet it's because they're shifting everyone to 8Mb and are running out of bandwidth.
is that 300gb limit still applicable on the 4mb connections? i got it once two years ago and now again... although i download constantly all this, i never got it again... so is it something that i need corrected? or should i pay? and what is with being upgraded to 8mb connections?
The limit is still there, but as you told me a few weeks/months ago ... they count data differently. I am now certain that they don't count torrents.
A few days ago, i asked for my bandwidth usage from Live Agent (at myPTCL) ... and when NetworkX in my PC was showing a total usage of 320GB, they told me i have only used 115GB something.
So not sure how they are counting. But, i am pretty sure they DO charge you Rs.5000 for the extra downloads.
Also, i don't know if i have mentioned this, but i tried to file a case against PTA for PTCL's behavior of charging Rs.5000, even if you exceed just 1GB extra ... while they should've been charging just for that extra 1GB. And the lady from PTA told me that a case against PTCL is already underway. That was like 3 or 4 months ago. Just mentioning it here, incase it has anything to do with them not charging (if such is the case) Rs.5000 extra.
And a new offer is available which says that you can upgrade your 4Mbps to 8Mbps for the same price. It was mentioned a few pages back, so you can check yourself. I don't remember the complete offer. Not sure if its mentioned on PTCL's website, because they are lazy. But it must have been mentioned on Facebook Page of PTCL. So help yourself.
There are 3 pc and many mobiles in my home and only my pcs usage exceed 60 gb per month but the bill shows less than 10 gb!!
they are actually quite strict on that 2 mb economy package which has a 7gb limit and they cost you additional 100 rs per gb if you exceed that limit

My connection has never crossed 850 KBps - Upon asking PTCL, they say it will never increase more than that
Sometimes they upgrade ur port to 9250 downstream just to avoid line loses and it gives u above 900KBps on IDM and 850-870 around on torrents. Please check ur downsteam rateCan you people please confirm the speeds you are getting on the 8mb connection.
