In some cases the upload gets increased but man your line stats are POOR, at least they were the last time you showed me.

They're kinda WORSE now. Downstream rate is skyrocketing. It's about 1900 right now and 87 upstream. I just asked my neighbour who has MicroNet. He couldn't find the SNR but he has 1021 downstream and 383 upstream. Does this help? Do we even have the same line. Or could it be the modem the whole time? Like I said, it's 2-3 years old.

Look at your upstream, its 87!!!!!! (abysmal) and your downstream is 1900 which means your modem can't even sync at the profile PTCL has put you on. You need to get your line fixed but before you do that tell me how is everything configured, main line goes into the splitter than to the modem? Try removing the splitter, detach your phone and directly connect phone line with modem & tell me at what rate the modem syncs.

i dont suppose there will be any upload speed increase...but u never know ptcl is messed up..for the past 2 days i had to call em thrice to get my net working...what happens is that when my modem restarts it fails to authenticate my account password and i get redirected to ptcl portal with an error saying that password is incorrect or i havent paid my bill. the ptcl guy on the phone told me today that the issue is on their side and about 70% of their users are facing this fault and will take about 5 days to properly fix. the guy then had me check my net stats using speedtest and me and him both were surprised to see that my upload speed is 0.85mbps on a 1mb connection and the guy was saying ke its weird cuz 1mb pe 0.3mbps max upload speed hoti hai even on fiber optic

Its not like that, the dslam's (I think) have presets for packages and they were different on the 2 exchanges I had connections on. Like on one my 1mb conn. profile was 1536/1024 and on another it was 1536/512. I don't know if they have standardized it now but if they have, a 1mbps connection will have a 384 or 256 kbps upload rate.

What on earth! My downstream now is 2001 kbps and 84 kbps upstream. StrikerX says it's the line's fault, PTCL doesn't pick up compaint phone, the line man said the line was good, some dude on Toms Hardware says it's the modem. I'm gonna lose my head over this :/

1Mb on Student package and standard 1Mb has NO difference. People saying standard has better upload, it's all BS. Maybe their phoneline is better, by which they get better results, but that is it.

If your line is shit bcos of which you don't get better upload doesn't necessarily mean they don't give better upload on 1mb std. package. Refer to my previous posts.

Let me make it clear, 90 out of 100 might have the same upload as a student package but their are those as well who get more upload speed, its totally random.
Another thing, your username only caps the download speed* but if your upload profile is higher than your subscribed package you'll get upload speed according to line profile (*there are exceptions in this as well)

^^which one...ptcl evo normal or nitro...anyways the speeds on the normal evo suck badly plus the signal strength problem (or maybe its just my area).....the nitro on the other hand gives varying speeds but GOOD speeds nonetheless

Speed downgraded to 1mbps since last night, both in modem status and download. Don't know why it happened. Using 2mbps for almost a year. Complained many times today but nothing happened.

Try restoring the wireless router to factory default settings, and try the setup again without any password. Or first check that can you even browse withOUT the wifi password. Try connecting the wire directly to your PC instead of connecting it to the wireless router.

My modem page is showing that i have been upgraded to 2Mbps. But my download speeds like IDM, utorrent etc. are not showing any increase in download speed.


My Wateen Speed Test Result:

Download Speed: 1429 kbps (178.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 332 kbps (41.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 191 ms
