PSN Gamesharing reduced from 5 to 2 - Account deactivation made easier.

Most PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable download titles can currently be activated and played on five systems. That's about to change.Sony announced today that it will be reducing the activation count from five to two. The turning date is November 18, when Sony will hold a PlayStation Network maintenance. Any game purchased after that can be activated and played on only two systems. Any game purchased before then will continue to have the five system count (in other words, the two system limitation will not apply to purchases made before 11/18.The PlayStation Portable limitation covers any portable Sony system: PSP-1000, PSP-2000, PSP-3000, PSP go, and the upcoming PlayStation Vita.
Going along with this change, Sony will be making the process of deactivating games simpler. Previously, you could only activate and deactivate games on the PS3 or PSP. Sony will be opening a PlayStation Network account management website, and you'll now be able to handle your rights there.
Sony said today that it is making this change out of consideration of balance between consumer convenience and content creator copyright protection.
Specifics on the November 18 PSN maintenance will be announced later.

That's actually a good thing, now i won't have people mooching my games.

I am really glad about the account deactivation option. Currently it's impossible to deactivate ur account from anywhere other than that console.

The ability of activating and deactivating accounts from online is just awesome because I'm a victim of the disadvantages of only being able to deactivate account form the console.

I have 2 PS3's that have stopped working and thus 2 slots from my main account have become useless. Ability to deactivate from account management will ensure people will not get caught up in this situation, so its an awesome change.

So will I be able to recover my account slots when this thing becomes live?

The account activation and deactivation site is a good idea, my PS3 is dying little by little.

At first it couldn't eject CDs properly (Had to hold the eject button down for manual ejection) Now it doesn't beep when I turn it on or off. Its served me for almost 3 years now and for a FAT 80GB PS3 thats pretty good. It'll die on me pretty soon I'm afraid, its time is near and it will be missed :frown:

Too many redundant DLCs on my HDD. This will clean up stuff well.

But still it is kinda sad, as splitting 5 ways was WAY cheaper but now everyone would kinda have to race to get the slot

And they didn't release UC3 yet on the store, so I'm guessing they will AFTER 18/11...

I don't think they'll ever release UC3 on the store, its a freaking 45 gb in size.
Love it because i would get my 500$ worth stuff from my old ylod ps3.
Hate it because I wont be able to get anything from psn the way I used to.

sony said after 18th november games purchased would no longer be allowed on consoles more than 2 ! so its actually u gotta make new account and purchase stuff in them to be eligible for them to be shared upto 5 consoles.. remember that final fight game was it or something that couldnt be shared on more than 2 or 3 consoles and had a limit of sharing, yes its like that all games purchased after nov 18th would have had their share slots reduced to 2 ! so HOPE THIS POST helped all those game sharing ppl !

Yea half the price is still good.

Here's what I don't get.
Take for example an account which has a lot of games bought from PSN and is currently being shred by 5 people, now after Nov 18, if I buy more games in that account, which two people will be able to access that content? Will it be random, I don't think so ! Maybe every game will ask for activation before downloading and it'll be like a first come first serve thing, which still sucks by the way ! Can anyone shed some light over here?

And also since you will be able to deactivate accounts from systems from a PC, does that mean anybody with the email and pass can deactivate it, sucks doesn't it !

this is actually pretty good...so now if your ps3 gets YLOD you can turn off you psn account from a website...and still share your games with another friend...how cool is that?! I welcome this change!
