I believe , while the old members got grown up , they move in their marital and professional life , plus the big thing I believe is the whole internet and gaming scenario has changed back then their was no facebook but now facebook has become a must duty it has perhaps become the only way to get touch with relatives and old friends , plus the whole piracy days are almost over , back then most of guys used to buy dvds (PC gamers ) as well ps , Xbox guys and used to be lot of problems regarding installation etc , discussion of games releasing or not .

Plus fucking smartphones has also taken a large chunk of activity , back then pg was like central hub of finding news regarding games etc now people surf things themselves using apps etc , also lot of gaming scene has decline in pakistan may be it become expensive or may be the next gen is more glued to their smartphones rather than consoles or pc's , when you grow up its hard to keep on upgrading pc's due to time constraint and you move towards consoles plus you don't have enough time to discuss at which stage of game you are etc .

A lot of blame is being placed on Piracy here. I honestly don't agree at all.

PS3 was never pirated and yet it had a very active userbase here on PG, which even used to play MP with each other or sell/trade games. Not to mention the fact that PS3 was very expensive compared to a PS4. PS4 is quite cheap compared to what most people paid for PS3 in the early years.

Now Piracy is a factor, sure. But the only thing it has affected is perhaps the Xbox One. PC is still open to piracy after all, and gets games all the time. So why is no one discussing them? I don't think shop keepers have stopped selling DVDs for these games?

Facebook is a reason, yes. A lot of the discussion has now reverted to Facebook. PS4 and Xbox One have made sharing easy for most users and we can do it directly on Facebook/Twitter.

I also agree that Smartphones are another big reason. These days, in my home, almost everyone has a smartphone. In old times, they used to either watch TV or talk with each other. But now I see them all busy on their smartphones on Facebook, Whatsapp or Messenger. Even in Pakistan, Smartphones/Tablets have taken a big chunk of gaming. I have seen kids playing their games on a cheap android tablet instead of a handheld.

This is probably something I strongly agree with.

You don't even have to go that far to see it's effects. Just looking at the GTA V PC thread. Most of what I'm seeing is:

- Posting and arguing about graphical differences between consoles and PC.
- People listing their specs and asking if they can run the game.
- People listing their specs and showing how well they can run the game.
- People asking for cracks, torrents, and updates.
- Console wars over getting the game first vs getting the superior product.
- People advocating piracy.

In comparison, any actual discussion about the game was far and few between. The entire thread just ended up looking like a big technical support hub. There wasn't a lack of people playing the game and most had been pirating it. But that didn't change the quality of discussions.

Just Trying Regaining activity level by putting something but doing level BEst. As much As i Can. lets see to what extend it gonna successful. i hope for the BEST. Need greater support from all around, atleast who are still on PG. response is bit lacking from PC Gamers.

FB, JOBs are main factors behind missing persons, While Smartphone change the platform, People limited to Phone devices. Trend has changed a lot. but still Devoted people should come up.

2008-2011...those were the days...when we used to bench our PCs like crazy, spend hours to get a few extra points in benchmarks and hang all day long in the Hardware Zone. And then life caught on and I haven't had a desktop PC since almost an year now. :|

The problem with GTA V was everyone played it on ps3/xbox360 2 years ago. there wasn't just enough topics left to discuss by the time pc version arrived and everyone was ready to benchmark it and test rockstar's optimizations clam. And oh, then there are pirates.....

Except you don't always have to play a game at the time of it's release to form an opinion on it. Some people might've played it on consoles before, sure. But for a lot of people this was their first time playing the game and most only chimed in the thread when they had a technical problem or if they wanted to show off their benchmarks. The thread wasn't treated like a proper OT, is what I'm getting at.

And where does piracy play into this? I've pirated games. That hasn't stopped me from discussing them.

^this, the reason why i don't post in those So-called OT threads.

No i didnt mean to blame pirates, well everyone of us is a pirate at some level [emoji12] all i meant was most pirates were busy sharing cracks waghera or where to get the game from rather then having an actual discussion......

The major reason is that PG didnt evolve with time. PG should have gotten active on FB and Twitter (or Instagram etc) when they picked pace especially in Pakistan. Secondly, PG should have gotten into video content as well. Lastly, there should have been mobile apps for PG as well. I know there is Tapatalk for the forums but its not as good as having a dedicated app. And PG also needs to find a good and effective way of monetization.

I think all of this is easily solvable and the forums can become much more active, if the current members decide to spread the word about PakGamers and contribute quality material and threads.

A community cant thrive if all the members are not on the same page. When I was a normal member, I used to refer PakGamers to each and every single person I met.

Now, even though, we are in an age of social media, I dont understand how we have hardly 6-8/ 6-8 likes shares on our Facebook pages. Even if you dont like an article or post, share and like and spread it for the sake of PakGamers.
We have a pretty large number of people here everyday, but we are so shy in sharing PG stuff, remember my "Beti ka rishta aya hai syndrome thread I made", about the stigma of being a gamer in Pakistan.

People like @IzHee, Asadullah khan (sorry dont know PG nick, pm me :p), yasir, minion tim, etc and a few other are usually the only names which like our posts.

We have to solve our problems, no one else will come and do it for us. Instead of complaining, which I am doing aswell, we should now look for solutions.

I feel like there are only few committed souls on PakGamers, which are trying to work for a solution but alot of people are just being lazy and content. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

Another thing is, I guess alot of old members know this and new ones might not, but no member of Team PG earns or gains anything monetary by being present here.
So its not like NaNoW, Jshak, Global mods, mods are of course doing this because they get paid in gold bars and are millionaires by now and PG is a cash cow.
It is easy to complain, but very hard to deliver.

If you feel that you can contribute from a position of power, then start contributing and I will personally make you a supervisor, team ug member or mod (as per the requirement)

I try to take the initiative so many times, but I cant do it alone.

Once our front page is completely finished (which is at 98% done), we will be publishing 1 articles at least every other day. We have even said we will pay you if you make new content, only two people have honestly taken me up on that offer.
Yasir and Callofhonor

I need people who can take Community Nights and just run with it. Organize it yourself, every week. I can personally only do it for CS or Fifa, I cant do it for Dota or LOL or BF4 or whatever. I will support you with everything I can: servers, announcements, fb posts, etc.. Find players, make threads, organize with your fellow gamers. Just Do it. @DivineTerra just pmed me himself saying, I will make the Raidcall server for ts and organize that server, so we can have our community multiplayer on difference games at all times. and every weekend we have a special community game night. I thank him for that and asked him to set it up, cause thats how I envisioned this when I thought of community nights. @nafu is holding a PC benchmark competition, where is his support, pc guys..I remember we had a kickass PC MOD community, with the best and sexiest cases in town belonging to us (remember Rameex)
This kinda self initiative is what is needed.

We need to honestly spread the load and promote PakGamers ourselves, instead of being nostalgic.

One more thing : PG is improving. The traffic has been on rise since last 6 months (these are stats, not what I feel ) but its not as fast as one would hope.

I would like to ask the "Old members ", how much have the personally contributed to Pakgamers, interms of content, managing threads, competitions, discussions...and I am sure they will agree that we all used to do it much more than now.

I apologize if I sound bitter, its just because I care for the community. Please take the imitative to move pg ahead and if you cant do even that then at least promote PakGamers everwhere you can (online and offline).
Can personally attest to that and I wanna commend you on your efforts. Keep it up (y)

--------------------------
I still miss the somewhat prime time I enjoyed on PG and made some great friends that I'm still in touch with and also met who are not from Karachi. I was in Pakistan for 4years for my Bachelor's study and I still remember the day when I got a new PS3 and was looking if there were any Pakistani people owning PS3 in Pakistan and found PG that way. Got addicted to it and had some great time and some great meetups and tafreeh. (Still remember the first one at Hardee's when it opened, for those who remember).

I thought of coming back as I still haven't gave up on gaming and still make time for it a lot but again certain factors and lack of activity from all the old members discourages me to post again.

I'm always around, if anyone wants to stay in contact just throw a mention or add me on Facebook or something....
