Wow, you made me proud dude. Brilliant review.
You know what....you weren't able to hold off your fanboyism for this game. Happens with me too, I get carried away with my love for games giving ridiculous and high scores but there are a few places where you should've held back.
#1 Graphics: Breathtaking during cutscenes but during actual ingame, the level of detail falls incredibly. I didn't even give Killzone2 a 10. 10/10 for RE5 is overkill.
#2 Gameplay: This is a little controversial. It's not 10 by 10 but still, it's not the 8/10 that RE dislikers complain about. Listen, Pacman CAN'T travel through a maze's walls. That's the game's setup, that's its core design. That's a RULE of the game. Similarly, the
restrictions in RE4/5 are there just to add a tension generating element to the gameplay. Once you know what can be done and what can't be, and you build your game around what you can do with the stuff, there's some mega fun to be had here. Right now, am on the 4th Chap and the game feels smooth as Sands of Time. Still, not a 10/10 from a general perspective. Chandoo.
#3 Multiplayer needs 11/10. Period.
#4 Sound, dude, you're going a
li'l over here as well. Audio mechanics weren't that hot. Too predictable, and nothing memorable when it comes to music. The voice overs are brilliant though and the sound effects in Dolby Digital are top notch, but 9.5 is a little too stretching.
#5 Lasting Appeal: TOTALLY agreed. The only other recent game that felt so addictive and enjoyable to replay was Uncharted. However, RE5 owes more to the CO-OP factor.
Overall, wonderfull review. You should've
Abuses will lead to baned a little bit more about the AI issues. The fact that RE5 isn't doing anything
new to the stories besides putting you in a familiar universe and of course CO-OP. But that doesn't mean it's bloody brilliant.
And it's amazing how you were totally unbiased regarding the platform selection point.
