That honor goes to Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne by a long shot.

But for this shooter/horror hybrid its one of the best.

There's no real drawback, you will just feel burned out because the first campaigns for both are 99% identical.

It just makes more sense to play 1st run with a character, then 2nd run with the other.

Both campaigns 1st run have same bosses, same enemies placement and almost same areas. There is a small area which is exclusive to Claire. Same for Leon. You should play second run because it's more different. Has a new weapon, enemies placement is changed and items place is also changed. One extra boss fight too.

Capcom effed up clair's face BIG TIME. thank God ada is spared

also giving control of ada is a nice addition as it gives us time to fully appreciate the effort put in designing her :shifty:

checked on youtube and yeah its all coming back to me now. the reimagined RE2 is actually more similar to the classic than i thought. its like i've forgotten major chunks of the game :laugh1:

although i do remember the alligator fight which was far more involving in the classic. didn't like the reimagined one.

Yeah, it's not a 1 : 1 perspective wise like REmake (Gamecube) was to the original RE. But there is a shocking amount of fan-service and similar scenarios from the new OTS perspective in RE2 2019.

Oh wow Im definitely starting a 2nd run with this once Im done with the main campaigns. Highly customizable on the fly.

I wouldn't mind if Capcom tries a shot at a proper first person mode though.

I guess you missed the part where the FOV is adjustable.

FoV aside, when the dude is panning the camera in the RPD main hall, the fish eye effect is just way too pronounced for my liking.

There is definitely the possibility of a proper first person mod and if/when there is one, I would love to replay the game like that too. This game definitely has much higher quality assets than RE7 and seeing those in proper first person would be pretty nice.

I don't know, game has a lot going for it (high quality character rendering and animations) and owes a lot to photogrammetry to achieve that realistic look, but the cut backs to achieve a 60fps target are pretty obvious. Environments are all static and have lots of low polygon assets and okay-ish texture work at best. Even poor in some spots. Works well for the game but not exactly a tech showcase.

Having a blast playing this game. I am 87% done. Hardcore done with both characters. Just have few achievements left. Mr Raccoon toys are hard to find. I will do that last.

They just gave all their attention to environments and characters. Story wise its not that engaging which original RE2 was. they changed the story and middle game meetups of Claire & Leon. Like in original they meet in Stars room and sherry,s first meeting and also in the end. But it doesn't matter now cause it IS a masterpiece.
