Oh good you managed to finish it during the rental period. (y)
It's a shockingly small campaign actually, maybe little above half of what Infinite Warfare was (IW is still my favorite campaign in the recent CoD games since the original Modern Warfare). Probably more time spent developing their new engine which will transition into the next-gen so they just threw together a small campaign after the negative feedback from not having any campaign last year.

The night vision missions were the highlight.
Especially Clean House. One of the best missions in a CoD game. I also liked the Farah stealth sections.

I haven't played IW, but the original MW campaign roughly had the same length.

IW has a whole host of optional missions you can take to complement the story. The story mode in this one was just a series of linear missions with no gap, hub world etc in the middle. It felt a lot shorter because of that.

[h=1]Modern Warfare revives Grind, the risky alternative to Kill Confirmed[/h]

It’s time to start hunting dog tags

Image

Infinity Ward has added a new game mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that combines the tactical pace of objective modes with the frantic running and gunning of Team Deathmatch. The mode is called Grind and, while it has been in Call of Duty games in the past, this is its first appearance in 2019’s Modern Warfare.
Grind first appeared in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and since then has cropped up in other games in the series, sometimes under alternate names like Stockpile and Fracture. The mode is a combination of the series’ Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint modes, in which enemies drop dog tags when they are killed by opposing players.
Players have to collect those tags and bring them to a specified destination in order to score points. Both teams must return tags to the same areas to score points, which makes those areas on the map highly contested. The drop-off locations also periodically change as the each match progresses.

Players can collect more than one dog tag at a time, but they’ll drop them all if they’re killed before turning them in, making every run to the scoring location a matter of risk versus reward. You can also collect the dog tags of your own fallen teammates, denying the enemy players their score.

Grind is available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare now. It’s unclear if the mode is a permanent addition to the game, or a temporary feature of the game’s first season. Grind has replaced the Drop Zone mode, which was available for about a week.

[h=1]Modern Warfare getting 3v3 Gunfight, more loadouts, and Gunfight Tournaments soon[/h]

Infinity Ward even posts a Trello board for fans to keep track

Infinity

Infinity Ward posted its first major community update of the year, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfarefans should be pleased with several of its developments: Gunfight’s 1v1 and 5v5 playlists will be joined by a 3v3 mode; more loadout slots will be added soon, and tournaments will follow after the studio fixes a few things following their November beta.
Moreover, there’s now a public Trello board for Modern Warfare’s post-launch support, so fans can follow, in real time, the status of certain upcoming features and changes without having to Google up a bunch of patch notes or work through the official forums.
Last week, Modern Warfare added a new 5v5 playlist to the Shipment map, a favorite of longtime CoD fans, plus the 1v1 Gunfight playlist. It also introduced the new Grind game mode on Jan. 1.
Gunfight 3v3 and the extra loadouts weren’t dated, but it sounds like they’re coming very soon. The Gunfight Tournament needs bugfixes and new rewards before IW is comfortable bringing it in, so that will take a little longer. Infinity Ward also said there will be more double XP, double weapon XP and 2X Tier events soon.
Over the next week, Infinity Ward says it’ll offer more playlist updates on Tuesday, a developer diary on Thursday and another community update blog on Friday.

[h=1]Modern Warfare’s latest patch adds a crossbow[/h]

A new weapon for your marksmen arsenal

Image

The latest patch forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare is here, and this time Infinity Ward is giving players a crossbow, but they have to earn it. The new weapon comes in the patch along with a few bug fixes and some buffs to weapons that could use the assistance.
The notes don’t include much information on the crossbow, but it appears that players will be able to earn it as soon as they load into a game on the Jan. 22 patch. The notes say that players can unlock the weapon by using a marksman rifle with a reflex optic to get five kills in 25 different matches.

There’s another playlist update with this patch as well, which removes Shoot House 24/7 and adds in a mode called Shoot the Ship. The patch also gives players five additional loadout slots, so you can build a few more weapon combinations.
There are also several fixes for out-of-bounds glitches, which allowed players to leave maps entirely. Infinity Ward is also removing the Krovnik Farmland map temporarily in order to fix a few bugs. This patch’s weapon changes are mostly small, but one big buff went to the FN Scar-17, which had its horizontal recoil reduced on the first few bullets fired. This should make it much easier to control, and a lot stronger in most fights.
For a look at all the changes from the Modern Warfare Jan. 22 update you can find the full patch notes below.

[h=2]WHAT’S NEW[/h]
 • Playlist Update: Added Capure the Flag and Shoot the Ship (Removes Shoot House 24/7) playlists! We also added Aniyah Palace back into rotation
 • 5 additional loadout slots!
 • New Weapon – Crossbow! Unlocked by using a Marksman Rifle with a Reflex Optic, get 5 kills in 25 different matches!
[h=2]GENERAL[/h]
 • In some cases, players could hit an invisible kill trigger in a bush that would cause them to die instantly while near A Flag on Port. This has been fixed.
 • Fixed an out of bounds exploit on Aniyah Palace
 • Temporarily removing Krovnik Farmland out of rotation while we work on a few bugs
 • Fix for a bug that could lock a PC player’s FOV at 60 until they respawn while in Ground War
 • The “Stand Together” calling card (3 Wins in Team Deathmatch) was being awarded even though this calling card is earned by default. This has been adjusted to the “Redemption” calling card.
 • The Daily Challenge for getting “10 Claymore Kills” was awarding the “One Shot” spray which is unlocked by default. This has been adjusted to the “Soft Serve” spray.
 • Fix for an issue where the playlist filter would not switch game modes, even with multiple modes selected
 • Adjusted the damage threshold for “Get X Kills while Injured” challenge to make it a bit easier to obtain
 • Various out-of-map exploit fixes
 • Fix for a few graphical errors that could occur on Ground War maps
 • Infected: Fixed a bug where the Nuke effects and audio will interrupt and overlap the final killcam if called in after death of the final survivor
 • Fixes to the Recent Players list appearing incorrectly on Xbox
 • Fixed a bug that allowed players to capture the Hardpoint while in the hotel on St. Petrograd
 • Adjusted the obituary to remove the oldest items first
 • Fixed a bug that would reset Voice Chat settings after the application was hard closed
 • Fix for a bug that allowed player collision. This has been fixed
 • Players can no longer cancel their recovery state when sliding, but will always incur the standard fire delay (visually the player will still respond)
 • On Shipment, players are able to set Care Packages on spawn points, causing players to die instantly when spawning in on these points. This has been fixed.
 • Fixed an issue where the Elite Xbox One controller had a slight bounce back with the analog sticks
 • Fixed a bug that could give players invincibility
 • Fix for some Officer Progression emblems not displaying the correct rarity
 • Fixed an issue that would lock Operator missions despite having the correct Battle Pass Tier
Field Upgrades:

 • Fixed a bug where using the ‘Stopping Power Rounds’ Field Upgrade with an empty C4 slot would cause the C4 detonator to appear before reloading with the Stopping Power Rounds
 • Fixed a bug that allowed players to reach unintended locations while manipulating the Weapon Drop Field Upgrade
 • Fixed a bug that allowed the Recon Drone to fly into geo if C4 was thrown onto it
 • Fix for Stopping Power Rounds not applying the correct damage boost to headshots
Trophy System:

 • Increased protection radius
 • Decreased the radius and the damage taken by trophy explosions
 • Fixed a bug where the explosion damage and effects wouldn’t trigger for the third explosion
Killstreaks:

 • Fixed a bug that allowed the Cruise Missile to kill players while out of bounds on Shipment
[h=2]WEAPONS[/h]
 • Fixed a bug where the 1mW Laser would not appear equipped on the 1911 pistol while in the Gunsmith menu
 • M4A1 Blueprint “OG” ADS position moved forward; the viewmodel or gun’s position relative to the camera or player’s eye is moved forward more, so it blocks less of the line of sight
 • Changing the magazine capacity from 45 to 50 for the RAM-7 extended magazine.
 • Increasing the bullet penetration of the MK2 Carbine
 • Less horizontal recoil on the initial bullets of the FN Scar-17
 • Changed the way stats are displayed for stocks to be more consistent with other attachments (this is for the graphs only, not the actual stats)
[h=2]CALL OF DUTY LEAGUE[/h]
 • Domination: Flags must be neutralized before being captured again. Settings for neutralization timing are now available in settings
 • Decreased charge time on the Trophy System
 • Headshot multiplier damage has been clamped; torso and headshots are now the same
 • Removed lightweight boost and decreased charge time on Dead Silence
COD Caster

 • Reworked minimap visuals (removed outside map background, removed minimap frame)
 • Improved readability of the killfeed and nameplate colors
 • Improved the quality of the colored arrows shown under players when using the Aerial Camera
 • Data View feature has been temporarily removed

[h=1]Modern Warfare patch adds Shipment 24/7, nerfs the Crossbow[/h]
The M13 also got a much needed buff

Infinity

The latest patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sees Infinity Ward switching up the game’s weekly rotating playlist once again. The patch also provides a couple of major balance changes, including a nerf to the game’s newest weapon.
This week, Shipment 24/7 — a playlist that only features the close quarters, shipping yard map in a variety of different game modes — has replaced Shoot the Ship. Another playlist change in this patch adds a new version of Gunfight where players can use Custom Classes.
As for balance changes, this patch takes aim at a few different weapons. The MP5’s headshot multiplier was reduced slightly, while the M4 lost some damage as well. The M13 had its range increase, along with a damage boost. The biggest change in the patch came for the recently-added Crossbow, which was destroying Support Helos a little too quickly. After the patch, it will take six shots to destroy an enemy Support Helo, rather than the three.
For a full look at all the changes in the Jan. 28, Call of Duty Modern Warfare patch, you can check out Infinity Wards’ official patch notes.

[h=1]Modern Warfare season 2 trailer hints at battle royale mode[/h]

The trailer even includes players parachuting onto a giant map

Image

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season 2 started on Feb. 11, kicking off a brand-new season of content for the game. But while the upcoming maps and operators may be exciting, they’re nothing compared to the hints that Infinity Ward has dropped that a battle royale mode could be on the way to the game.
Speculation about the new mode started shortly after the season began when Call of Duty YouTuber PrestigeIsKey tweeted about a changed to the Modern Warfare menu. While there used to be four options on the menu, there was now a new option that simply read “Classified.”

611 people are talking about this

While this doesn’t mean much on its own, speculation ramped up when players saw the season 2 in-game cinematic trailer. The trailer opens on a group of three soldiers wandering through a large building. Out of nowhere, one is shot, a brief firefight ensues, and the remaining squad members take out their assailant. One mentions something about a gas closing in, and the two take their leave. After that, a rope appears from the roof and Ghost, a new operator added to the game for season 2, repels down.
Ghost informs Price that something is wrong and the camera pulls back to reveal a giant map. The map has dozens of different locations, with firefights happening everywhere. Finally, a plane flies past the camera, and four soldiers jump out and parachute down to the massive map. In the background, a giant wall of green gas slowly seems to be encroaching on the map.

With all that in the trailer, it’s no wonder players think battle royale might be coming to Modern Warfare. Between the map itself, the closing wall of gas, and the iconic images of players jumping out of a plane, it certainly seems possible. But these aren’t the only evidence Call of Duty players have. Back in December 2019, a random bug in Modern Warfare seemed to reveal a massive battle royale-style map that bears more than a passing resemblance to the map we see in this new trailer.
Unfortunately for fans, there’s been no official word on what all these shenanigans might mean. Of course, 2018’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 had a battle royale mode, so the idea isn’t totally alien to the series, but we’ll likely have to wait at least a few more days before we know for sure if Modern Warfare is joining the battle royale fray.

[h=1]Call of Duty developer apologizes for Modern Warfare’s massive patches[/h]
Infinity Ward promises it’s actually keeping the game’s HD footprint down

Infinity

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s title updates are getting a little out of hand.
The latest one clocked in between 51 GB (PlayStation 4) and 68 GB (PC and Xbox One). That may not be larger than the game itself (130 GB). But with a 53 GB update two weeks ago, followed by an even larger one now, plenty of players are grumbling queries as to why these patches have to be so freakin’ large, even if this one is kicking off the game’s season 2 of content.
Yesterday, Infinity Ward production developer Paul Haile apologized in a multipart Twitter explanation for the size of the update. He said the maintenance this one supplies should keep the game’s overall disk footprint down. “We’re also taking this opportunity to set up the data for better overall management to try and keep future updates from being this large, even during a season rollout,” Haile said.
“I’m very conscious of the overall size of MW and we’re doing what we can to minimize this for everyone,” he added.
That was still cold comfort to Call of Duty fans with less than state-of-the-art connections, bandwidth cap concerns, or console hard drives with room enough for plenty of full-size titles, but not enough for this kind of a patch.

Someone posted this screenshot from an unnamed university’s IT department, which attributed a multi-campus network slowdown to the Call of Duty update. It shot to the top of the Modern Warfare subreddit.

The Feb. 11 full patch notes list updates to the playlist, two new weapons (the Grau 5.56 and Striker 45), plus a new operator (Ghost), along with a raft of rebalances, adjustments, and other fixes. (The patch notes for the Jan. 28 update are comparatively much skimpier.)
Ghost was seen in season 2’s in-game cinematic, which also teased elements that suggest a battle royale is coming to Modern Warfare. Though last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 had a battle royale, and rumors of one for Modern Warfare have persisted since December, Infinity Ward has yet said nothing official on the subject.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Modern Warfare adds a Tamagotchi-like pet that you feed with murder[/h]

It’s called a Tomogunchi!

Call of Duty as a franchise has gone through many changes, with various developers tweaking the gunplay and progression systems. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the latest installment, promised a grim look at the reality of war, civilian danger, and responsibility. We’re also getting a virtual pet, basically a Tamagotchi, so we can hatch a sweet little buddy from a digital egg and help it grow. Seems slightly off-theme to me, but the multiplayer in Call of Duty has always been a much lighter arena.

It’s not new to purchase a companion in a game as a service. Everything from World of Warcraft to Fortnite lets the player kit out their avatar and equip a cuddly pet or tiny friend to come along for the ride. Call of Duty’s version is handled a little bit differently. In Modern Warfare, you have an old-school digital device strapped to your operator’s wrist. This is peak early ’90s nestled in a 2020 video game release.

There’s only one way to nurture your Tomogunchi: murder. Killing will feed your little buddy and upgrade it throughout the course of play. If you’re on a bad streak, the poor little guy will wither and die in response. (For the objective-minded, you can also give your Tomogunchi sustenance through objective scoring, killstreaks, and wins.)
Players can also unlock other wristwatch cosmetics, but the Tomogunchi is my personal favorite, if only because I had a Tamagotchi myself as a kid. It died many times; I suspect with my shooter skills, my Tomogunchi would meet the same fate.
Bandai re-released the classic Tamagotchi back in 2017, and teamed up with The Pokémon Company for an Eevee-raising version of the toy in 2018.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone trailer promises you can play the free battle royale tomorrow[/h]

Battle royale is back in Call of Duty

After months of teasing and leaks, Call of Duty: Warzone has finally been revealed. The new stand-alone game will be free for all players, and will be released Tuesday, March 10, on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
While early speculation pointed to Warzone being a battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it turns out it’s a completely separate experience. Warzone will include a new battle royale mode for Call of Duty, the first since Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, but it will include another mode called Plunder as well.
Warzone’s Battle Royale mode will take place on the game’s massive Verdansk map, which has several named zones and over 300 points of interest, according to Activision. The mode will pit 150 players against each other and will feature trio squads.
Warzone’s Plunder mode will also take place on the Verdansk map, though it isn’t clear how many players can play in this mode. In Plunder, players will fight to collect in-game cash by looting it from around the map. The catch is that players carry their cash on them, so if you kill an enemy trio, you’ll be able to take the cash they’ve earned. Players will also have the chance to take on special contracts in Plunder, which appear to be small missions to get more money.
The trailer that Activision released to announce Warzone showed off several vehicles, including helicopters, ATVs, and trucks, that players could tear across the map on. It also appears that several of Modern Warfare’s maps will be spread out around Warzone as part of the Verdansk map.
Just like Modern Warfare, Warzone will feature cross-platform play and unified progression between all of your different accounts. In addition, all cosmetics and customization options that players have already unlocked in Modern Warfare, including the battle pass, will transfer to Warzone as soon as they download the game.
Call of Duty: Warzone will be available as a free download on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game will go live at 11 a.m. EDT on March 10 for all players that own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, while players that don’t own Modern Warfare can start downloadingWarzone at 3 p.m. EDT.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone will let dead players fight a 1v1 battle for a chance to respawn[/h]

Fallen players head to The Gulag for a final fight for survival

It’s been a long time since death was really the end in battle royale games. Apex Legends gave players the chance to revive their fallen squad mates, and Fortnite added the same featurejust a few weeks later. But Call of Duty: Warzone’s new battle royale mode is giving players a new way to get back into a game.
After their first death, players are sent to a new location, Modern Warfare’s Gunfight map, the Gulag. There they patiently watch as the other dead players face off against each other in a one on one showdown, before getting a turn themselves. The winner of each duel gets to jump back into the fray. The loser doesn’t.
The Gulag gives battle royale players a shot at a free respawn that’s about as fair as it can get. It’s a second chance with a skill-based twist. If you’re frustrated you died too quickly in the main game, you’ll get the chance to prove you deserve to come back by taking out a member of the competition. Plus, the wait time should prevent players from jumping back into the middle of a fight that killed them.
Thankfully, if you aren’t so quick on the draw and you lose your duel, you’re still not out for good. Warzone also has a cash mechanic, where players and squads earn money through completing contracts and getting kills. Players can use this cash to buy supplies and weapons, or for a premium, they can respawn a fallen ally. This is a similar mechanic to other battle royale games, but the cash requirement makes it more of an investment, which is fine since players already have a chance to get back in on their own.
These two factors should combine to make Warzone stand out among its battle royale competition, at least in the way it deals with death. And this should be especially relevant in the mode, considering that matches will have 150 players each, rather than the more standard, 100 players or fewer that other popular games in the genre have.
Call of Duty: Warzone and its battle royale mode will be available to download for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC starting on March 10.

[h=1]How to download Call of Duty: Warzone[/h]

Whether you’re on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC

Call of Duty: Warzone is the series’ latest take on battle royale. It will be a completely free game, but the practical details of how to download the game can be little confusing. After all, it has two different release times, and players who own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a different download process from players who don’t.
To help you get ready for the release of Call of Duty: Warzone, we’ve got everything you need to know about when the game comes out, and how you can download it.
[h=2]WHEN DOES CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE COME OUT?[/h]Call of Duty: Warzone has two different release times. If you already own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, you can start downloading Warzone at 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 10. If you don’t already have Modern Warfare, you can start the Warzone download at 3 p.m. EDT that same day.
As for the other time zones, Activision has provided a very helpful map — all of the times here are for players that don’t own Modern Warfare.

Image: Activision[h=2]HOW TO DOWNLOAD CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE IF YOU ALREADY HAVE MODERN WARFARE[/h]For Modern Warfare owners, Warzone will be simple to download. To make things easy, it will replace the Classified panel in the in-game menu. If you have the latest patch installed,Warzone will download somewhere between 18 GB and 22 GB of addition data. If you don’t have the title update installed, it will be closer to 80 GB. Once the download is complete, the panel that says “Classified” will say Warzone.
If you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on a disc and you don’t have the disc anymore, you can just delete your previous copy of Modern Warfare, and download Warzone from your chosen platform’s first-party store. All of your progress from Modern Warfare will carry over, according to Activision.
[h=2]HOW TO DOWNLOAD CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE IF YOU DON’T ALREADY HAVE MODERN WARFARE[/h]If you don’t already have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it won’t be hard to get Warzone. All you’ll need to do is go to your chosen platform’s first-party store — the PlayStation Store on PS4, the Xbox Store on Xbox One, or Battle.net on PC. From there, search for Call of Duty: Warzone and start your download.
The game is going to be between 83 GB and 101 GB, according to Activision, so the download may take some time. Thankfully, the developers have thought ahead and packed in something to do while you wait. The first 20 GB of the Warzone download includes Modern Warfare’s Gunfight mode, which will let you face off against bots in an offline setting. This will give you the chance to practice your aim before you jump into Warzone’s competitive battle royale when the full download finishes.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone complete map detailed by Infinity Ward[/h]

It’s fully interactive

Call of Duty: Warzone is out as of this Tuesday, and players are rushing to be the first to try the free-to-play battle royale game. To help them along, the team at Infinity Ward has produced an official strategy guide, and it comes complete with a massive interactive map.
These kinds of interactive maps have been a staple of the survival multiplayer genre sinceDayZ was just a mod for Arma 2 and it seems Infinity Ward is taking on the responsibility of keeping this one updated, rather than having to rely on the community.

Image: Infinity Ward/ActivisionEach of the game’s regions is detailed on zoomed-in pages, from hospitals to train stations to farmlands. If you’re stuck at work, it may be your best shot at becoming familiar with the various regions before you’re able to hop in and play.
If you’re out of the loop — or just confused by how the game is rolling out across PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One — we’ve got a guide to downloading the game all ready to go. You’ll want to get started soon, as the footprint can be in excess of 100 GBs for some versions.
