simple, fluid and relatively faced paced. Much better than Blackout. And no it will no revitalize the genre.

Went ahead and downloaded the mode, and yes it was a full 100+GB.

Being a dick in a helicopter (a helladick if you will) is pretty fun.

Tried it yesterday... Definitely a marginally better, iterative improvement over Apex but its very hard to escape that been there done that feeling with BR games, at least for me. Every BR game for me is a very short lived pleasure.

[h=1]Over 50,000 people have been banned from Call of Duty: Warzone[/h]

No cheaters allowed

Call of Duty: Warzone is the franchise’s latest take on battle royale, and the fast-paced combat makes it quite enjoyable. However, the game only works if everyone is playing on equal ground, and cheaters are a constant hassle that developers need to deal with. Infinity Ward put out a post today, stating that it has banned over 50,000 cheaters since the launch of Warzone on March 10.
Infinity Ward briefly explained the programs it uses to detect and ban cheaters and cheat providers, but the post notes that it does not always discuss these matters publicly. Developers often keep their anti-cheat methods partially in the dark in order to keep the methods they use to identify and ban cheaters secret, thus preventing an arms race between modders and developers. The post reads:
· Our security teams monitor 24/7 to investigate data and identify potential infractions.
· The teams review all possible cheats and hacks, this includes identifying use of aimbots, wallhacks and more.
· We’re working to improve our in-game system for reporting potential cheating. Plans are underway to streamline the UI for a more seamless reporting experience.
· For all reports that are received in-game, they are both analyzed and filtered based on key data.
· Once investigations are complete, we will continue to work as quickly as possible to ban.
Infinity Ward will be maintaining an updated count of accounts banned from Warzone, giving some transparency to players as to the current state of their anti-cheat efforts.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone players get free weekend in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer[/h]

From Friday to Monday, progress will carry from one to the other

Players of Call of Duty Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale variant that Activisionlaunched a month ago, will get a free weekend in the main multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The free weekend begins at 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, April 3 and runs until Monday, April 6 at 10 a.m. PDT. It’s available to anyone with the Warzone client (which is itself a subset of the main game). Players will get access through the Warzone lobby in the form of the “Stocked Up/Locked Down” 24/7 playlist.

That playlist will offer two maps: Atlas Superstore and Shoot House. Players will get Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Headquarters modes.Activision’s announcement has more details and advice on how to play both maps.
Call of Duty Warzone launched on March 10. It is altogether a different thing from Modern Warfare’s standard multiplayer, although it is free to play. In addition to the battle royale, it features a mode called Plunder. Progress in both games transfers, so players will see their levels and cosmetic customizations in Warzone show up in the free weekend’s multiplayer, and whatever they earn there will stay with them after the free weekend. Cross-platform play is also available for this free weekend.

[h=1]Call of Duty may use Humvees without maker’s permission, judge rules[/h]

Use is in context and has artistic merit, says court

Activision’s Call of Duty franchise may use and show Humvees without paying a license to the military vehicles’ maker, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.
AM General, which developed the Humvee in 1983 and has manufactured it since, sued Activision Blizzard in 2017, saying that the Humvee’s unauthorized appearance in several Call of Duty video games since 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfarelent authenticity and value to the series without due compensation or permission.
But Judge George B. Daniels of U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that Activision’s use of the Humvee’s likeness (“trade dress” is the legal term) was warranted, as the publisher’s motivation for doing so was to present militaries of various nations in a realistic context.
“Defendants’ uses of Humvees in Call of Duty games have artistic relevance,” Daniels wrote, in granting Activision Blizzard’s motion to throw out AM General’s complaint. “Featuring actual vehicles used by military operations around the world in video games about simulated modern warfare surely evokes a sense of realism and lifelikeness to the player.”
Daniels found that the representation of Humvees in Call of Duty satisfied a test established by legal precedent that requires such a use to have artistic relevance. “Any reasonable juror would conclude that the presence of Humvees in Call of Duty games possesses an artistic value that is at least ‘above zero,’” he wrote. Other legal tests, involving brand confusion, bad-faith use, and the businesses in which the two sides are engaged, all broke in Activision’s favor, too.
AM General brought its suit in November 2017; the preceding summer, Activision launchedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a stand-alone game. It is a version of the first Call of Duty game to feature Humvees, updated for current hardware. AM General’s lawsuit pointed to the Humvee’s unauthorized appearance in six console video games and other mobile and spinoff works over the preceding 10 years.
The suit also noted that, in 1998, the company had complained to Activision about the Humvee’s appearance in an unrelated game (Sin), and after exchanging correspondence, Activision had agreed not to use it. Daniels found that the 1998 letter would be inadmissible at a trial, and that he did not have to consider it. The remaining other uses of the Humvee “do not demonstrate a desire to ‘sow confusion between the two companies’ products,’” Daniels said, quoting another ruling.
Polygon reached out to a representative of Activision Blizzard to ask for additional comment.
AM General’s lawsuit resembles one brought in 2012 involving Electronic Arts and the parent company of Bell Helicopter, whose aircraft had appeared in the Battlefield franchise. In that case, however, EA filed the suit, as it and Textron (Bell’s parent) had been in unproductive negotiations over the use that the publisher felt would end in a lawsuit.
EA was seeking a judge’s ruling that such use, without seeking permission first, was fair and protected by the First Amendment. But the matter ended without any opinion after EA and Textron settled out of court.
EA had made similar arguments of First Amendment protection over its use of real-life college football players’ likenesses in the roster of its NCAA Football franchise. A judgerejected that reasoning in July 2013, setting the stage for Electronic Arts to pay $40 million to settle the class action brought by former college football players, and cancel the NCAA Football series that September.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone gets quad squads in season 3[/h]

Season 3 for Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare kicks off April 8

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its battle royale spinoff, Call of Duty: Warzone, officially kicks off Tuesday, April 8 on all platforms, according to a new trailer from Activision and Infinity Ward. The new season will bring quads mode — aka four-player squads — to Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as new skins and new weapons.
Warzone season 3 will also include changes to the loot pool, and new modes like Scopes and Scatter Guns (sniper rifles and shotguns only), according to a post on the Activision blog. “Furthermore, ground loot will have a continuous overhaul to diversify the strategies you can take across Warzone,” Activision said. “Of note, expect to see every weapon type with a silenced and non-silenced variant, allowing squads to kit themselves for silent operations...”
For Modern Warfare, season 3 will bring with it three new 6v6 multiplayer maps (Talsik Backlot, Hovec Sawmill, Aniyar Incursion), a new operator (Alex), new vehicle skins, and two new weapons (the SK5 marksman rifle, Renetti 9 mm sidearm) during launch week.
Talsik Backlot is a remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Backlot multiplayer map, and Aniyar Incursion is a condensed, 6v6 version of Aniyah Palace from Modern Warfare’s Ground War mode.
Season 3 will eventually include more new maps, such as Hardhat and the Gunfight-specific map, Aisle 9; new operators Ronin and Iskra; and new weapons and Gunsmith customs. More details on what to expect from season 3 and its new Battle Pass are available atActivision’s blog.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone are available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Warzone is free to download.
