Nah, don't do that. It will become a chore of an exercise. Instead, if you want to gain EXP quickly and avoid the grind (and not pay $10 for the booster :p) the quickest way is to take down a nation's power (take out their key targets, forts and leaders) and force the conquest battles. Conquest battles give you *MASSIVE* amounts of EXP if you're fighting for the attacking side. Also you get more loot from the attacker's side too.

If you're gaining bounty during game play, let the Mercenaries come to you. By the time I was finishing the story, I was already tier 1 on the Mercenary ranking without needing to specifically hunt them down. The game will naturally send the higher level mercs to you when you start causing issues on higher levels.

[h=1]Streaming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Google Chrome is surprisingly great[/h]

[h=2]Google’s Project Stream beta works wonders already[/h]

The idea of streaming new games has always seemed like a difficult, even impossible challenge. With high-quality graphics and the need for precise and responsive controls, it’s always been a tall order to get a game running that felt good to play over just an internet connection.
The latest, and perhaps most confident, player to get into the game-streaming market is Google, with the company’s newly announced Project Stream service. Announced last week, and just a few days into its first public testing phase, Project Stream is currently exclusive to a few invitees and is only compatible with the new Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Testing out Project Stream during the beta, I came to understand why Google felt able to drop a major project like this out of seemingly nowhere. Because playing a game as intensive as the new Assassin’s Creed felt great — and might even be the ideal way to play on PC.
Participating in the trial requires both Google and Ubisoft accounts. Then all you have to do is open Chrome. Once the browser is open you’ll also undergo a test that checks the quality and speed of your internet connection. This check occurs each time you load the game — but it doesn’t take long. Odyssey launches just like it would if you were using UPlay, Ubisoft’s official PC client, and you can play it directly from your browser, no addition downloads required.

When you exit fullscreen, the game pauses UbisoftThe first, and most surprising, thing you’ll likely notice when the game loads is that it ... works. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey runs about as well from the cloud as if you had just installed the game normally. Movement is responsive, and combat feels fluid. Even dodging enemy attacks was easy, and I never fell victim to the kind of input lag that has often plagued game streaming in the past.
As for visuals, the stream was almost equally impressive. The game’s visual options menu is bereft of its usual choices and instead offers brightness as the only option, everything else is handled dynamically by Project Stream. With nothing else happening on my home network, it comfortably ran at 1080p on what would likely pass for medium — or occasionally high — settings in the standard PC version. Even in the game’s opening — minor spoilers forAssassins Creed Odyssey I guess — with dozens of enemies on screen on a rainy battlefield, the game never so much as stuttered or dropped it’s resolution at all.
The only consistent downside to the streaming version of the game, which I found across all hardware and connections I tried, was some fairly aggressive audio compression. This was, at its very worst, a noticeable issue, and that was only during some of the game’s louder cutscenes. For the most part, while wandering around the world and completing quests, the audio was perfectly fine.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey ready to play in Chrome UbisoftWhen I loaded my network down with streams and downloads, the game slipped slightly, muddying the textures slightly or even sliding down to a slightly lower resolution. ButOdyssey never fell too far below what you would expect out of the game’s performance on the minimum-required PC hardware, and it still never dropped frames or struggled to keep up with my button presses.
Speaking of hardware, Project Stream managed to perform well on a variety of systems on that front as well. To start with, I tested the game on a computer more than capable of maxing out the standard version of the game: I’ve got an NVIDIA 1080 graphics card and a gigabit internet connection, as close to the ideal circumstances as possible. Then I moved everything to a 2017 Macbook Pro and a wireless connection to the same network. I was able to pick up my save right from where I had left off, and it ran just as well.

The network check screen for Project Stream GoogleIn fact, the only place I could find that wouldn’t allow the game to play was the local coffee shop, also known as Starbucks. When I took the same laptop there and signed onto the in-store internet, Project Stream wouldn’t load the game at all. It turns out, Starbucks Wi-Fi wasn’t quite cut out for the rigors of streaming a new game released last week.
To say that the streaming service and its presentation of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey were impressive would be an understatement. Given the choice between playing the standard PC version of the game and the Project Stream version, I’d probably choose streaming. With Project Stream, the game launches a little quicker, and you only really lose the top end of quality. For those with the internet connection to play — but without a suitable computer to handle the traditional install — it’s hard to imagine a better setup than Project Stream, even in these early days.

Really looking forward to play this one soon. Origins was a great game, but marred by its average story. All the reason I'm more curious about Odyssey.
I actually go looking for them when there is a bounty on my head :p.
You will always find them running towards your way when you see via the eyes of Ikaros. Also normal enemies are fun to fight to, sometimes its hard to predict if there moves can be countered or not.

okey - the more I am playing this game, the better it is getting...the story is great and so are the gameplay feature loops ...the

NaNoW I didn't know you actually play games. Thought you only develop and talk about them :p

Question for those playing, how's the leveling up? I heard you have to explore aka grind a lot before the game gets interesting/fun to play.

You'll do a fair bit of grinding or busy work because the game has gated zones. If you're a couple of levels below a zone, expect to be one to two shot to death by random enemies.

Does the game force you to do side activities and missions to level up for some main missions, as it did in Origins? Sounds like it does. That was the worst thing in Origins for me and it will be a huge turn off if it's carried forward in Odyssey.

To be fair though, the side missions are fun, but you HAVE TO do quite a bit of side missions, conquest battles and exploration to level up..
one of my issues with the game is that there isnt any sort of variety in combat..i.e its all similar looking humans with an additional number with their health bar

no physical, color or enemy type variation - which is a shame really.

off topic; actually we had an interesting conversation in house - that if side missions are necessary to playing critical main mission path - then are they even side missions ?!

It's worse than that because most side missions are not even relevant to the story. Here I am, all immersed in the story and characters when the game tells me to take a break and go save someone's dog or child or kill some random guy or spy on someone or steal something. Can't think of a better way to f*ck up the engagement with the narrative and screw the pacing and focus.

It's forced like Origins in that zones are level gated. So, yeah, you'll be doing stuff to gain levels so you don't get killed by one hit.

Spiderman is a good example in this game. Even though the game offered me multiple times to go and explore the world, it did not hinder me from continuing the story missions. I had no pressure in terms of leveling up, nor completing any side missions. The side missions were completely distinct from the main story, and that's why they are called side missions.
NaNoW - it depends on the quality of the side missions, and what type of impact they have on the campaign/main story. In case of Odyssey, the side missions are forced so you must level up in order to progress in the story. Hence they are still side missions but in my opinion, this is not the best game design. You have to quantify how qualitative your side missions are in terms of providing a fun/rewarding/new experience which is irrelevant to your main story progress. For me Assassin's Creed is a mock RPG, and hence, should treat grinding as such. From my own experience I can say that Origins was mindless grinding with its side activities, and at one point I saw no incentive to continue with them once I fully upgraded my character's stats. And even then, there were a TON of them left.

As you said that there are little enemy variations in Odyssey, that's a good reason to reduce the grind in this case. I believe the level of grinding should be directly proportional to the fun/rewarding/new experience I mentioned earlier. Of course you can drill down into all three factors, but I guess it's a good place to start.

But at the end, who am I kidding.. Ubisoft is known for creating big, empty and shallow game worlds. And they continue to repeat the tried and failed formula.

I freakin love Assasin's Creed... This franchise has made a sharp turnaround since origins and Odyssey is another superb addition... I am around 60 hours in the game and i am guessing a still have another 20 or so hours to finish up almost everything worth playing in this game. Slightly off-topic, but every time a play an action RPG game i cant help but feel that the game has one way or the other taken its inspiration from the Witcher 3. This could be a personal bias for the Witcher 3 because i freaking love that game, but the writing in games especially the secondary missions designs have made massive leaps and we all owe it to Witcher 3 for that.

Finished the 2nd episode of the DLC. Man .. poor Ubisoft. They made the best AC game in a loooong while but had the misfortune of having it release around other much more polished games like God of War, Spider Man and Red Dead 2.

My game clock in the game since beginning is somewhere around 68 hours now. Slow XP gain aside, it was a time well spent. Just one more episode and that'll be it for this pretty underrated game.

Finished this last week and UBI has once again reignited my love for this franchise with this and Origins. I dont have the stats but I am pretty sure this is by far the most enormous game I have ever played in terms of the map size. It is fucking gargantuan. Side quests are very well written and this franchise has now turned into a fully blown RPG game. I am done with all the main quests and have clocked around 70 hours in the game and if i had to guess there is definitely 25-30 hours of side quests content still left in the game. There are a number of islands that I havent even visited yet.

[h=1]Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Atlantis DLC looks like an entirely new game[/h]
[h=2]Odyssey will continue to expand with The Fate of Atlantis DLC, a big new story arc[/h]

Assassin’s Creed Odysseywas epic in scale well before being expanded with its initial burst of post-release content. After the most recent episode, we felt the scope had gone from epic to exhausting, and that we’d finally had our fill of this entry. The launch trailer for the upcoming expansion, The Fate of Atlantis, has us rethinking that position.
The footage is striking, with grand vistas and lots of colorful vegetation and ancient technology. The story is pushing the series further from its historical setting into the fantastic and colorful settings of myth. The expansion will be spread across three episodes, beginning with “Fields of Elysium,” an adventure set in the idyllic afterlife locale of Greek myth. According to Ubisoft’s announcement, the following two episodes will go deeper into “the great mysteries that lie within the ancient realm of the gods.”
The arc will introduce ability enhancements, allowing players to modify the functions of existing abilities. And it will feature a bundle of gods and mythological beasts to meet and battle.
Folks will be given two options to play The Fate of Atlantis:
Following the main game, players will have to complete the questline Between Two Worlds, the mythological main game story arc, and Heir of Memories, the Lost Tales of Greece questline that is available after completing the former questline. Finally, they must have reached character level 28 or above.
Otherwise, players will be able to use a shortcut created specifically for those who would like to play The Fate of Atlantis and who do not fulfill all the above conditions. Thanks to this shortcut, players will enter Greece level 52 with preset Abilities and resources enabling them to start their adventure into the afterlife with the Lost Tales of Greece questline Heir of Memories. They will also have the opportunity to choose their hero. However, contrary to the previous option – players’ progression using the shortcut will not carry over to the main game save, and they will not be able to obtain achievements.
The Fate of Atlantis is included in Odyssey’s $39.99 season pass, and will be available by itself for $24.99. The first episode will launch on April 23. The subsequent episodes — “Torment of Hades” and “Judgment of Atlantis” — will be available in mid-2019.

Played through the 2 episodes of the first DLC pack, haven't touched the third EP yet. But that was a fantastic add-on.

This looks like it's through the roof and Ubisoft are going all out. Looking forward to it.

Ubisoft are killing it with the DLC. The Legacy of the First Blade was a 3-part arc which had a more engaging story than the base game and now I'm playing through the first episode of the Atlantis DLC. It's worth it just to see how radically they change the area you're playing the game in and all the new characters you meet. The small mass of the world makes it up by being so vertically oriented. (which is still pretty fuckin huge .. it's just small compared to the rest of Odyssey)

This might be a great contender for "best game of 2018 that didn't get enough recognition" for the 2019 awards.
