I was wondering if anyone here has experience in buying an 'Online' UPS ? I'm in the market for a 6 KVA one, but don't know which brand to buy and from where (I'm from Islamabad) .. They're the most expensive kind of UPS's, so I want to buy something that will last a long time .. Any suggestions are welcome .. I need one for my Home Theater room which contains all imported high-end equipment ..

6 KVA!, that's gonna cost alot of dough! I don't think APC is officially available here, so best option to go for is Liebert-Emerson Online UPS, that's only available for corporate customers on order. It is available with Local Warranty.

Yeah my equipment is kinda heavy, and I've been told that even a 6 KVA Online UPS will barely be sufficient for all my equipment ..

What about other brands such as Phoenix, etc ?

Also, any international brands available which are officially represented in Pakistan ?

Emerson is an international brand, dell is available here but I don't think it's full range is available and it's much more expensive for no reason. Mercury, Phoenix and the like are mostly china rebrands, beware there a lot of brands being sold here which are not what they are shown to be, like there's this one company Deutsche Power, it's not original just shown by the seller as from germany and bla bla

Ur best bet is to go for used apc units. Mint condition pieces can be located from lahore etc. Mostly larger variety apc are decently used.

U need 4 to 6 batteries for such configuration.

By the way what kind of stuff u r powering. 6kva are u sure? Do calculate bro.

Projector and amp take the most but I doubt that would be over 1500 watts

Well I am going to calculate the exact load, but I had an expert look at my equipment yesterday briefly, and he suggested that even a 6 KVA UPS will barely be enough .. I don't think he had any incentive to say that because he doesn't deal in UPSs ...

Also, I don't want to get a used one .. Would prefer a brand new one which comes from an authorized seller with official manufacturer-level support in Pakistan ..

U can contact schneider pakistan perhaps they will have new large capacity apc ups.

The used apc are by no means inferior. They are very very reliable. I have used one to even run an inverter 1 ton AC during loadshedding with ags wet batteries.

Also look into a hybrid ups with solar feature. Expensive but may help u get something new and branded. Besides u already need at least 4 batteries so might as well think on solar features as well. Hybrids are availble in both chinese and german stuff.

I have used two 1500VA APC UPS, the first one didn't work properly, didn't catch fluctuations and switch. The second one I bought, was of smart series, and is working good but needed to be set up via the software. Both were bought used, the first one was refurbished, second was original imported.

I too think that your requirement is exaggerated. If you want a calculation, you should list your equipment.

At 6KVA Hybrid is too expensive.

I'm currently using an Aurora 6KVA/3KW Pure Sinewave UPS. Paired with 4x 150Amp dry batteries, hasn't given trouble since like 2.5 years.

can you give me exact setup that you have? i would also like to know the high end setup specs that you have:p... your best choice is apc and it is officially available but damn damn expensive... used are much much cheaper and work like a charm and if it develops a problem then fixing it is no issue for the people selling them... in lahore the people i deal with also are importing brand new ones by avoiding taxes as they import without the company packing... dry batteries will set you back more than the ups though..

Due to a specific reason I don't want to publicly disclose my exact specs, but just to give you an idea, my two subwoofers alone eat about 1400W combined. Then there are high end 7-channel speakers, two projectors, a whole bunch of devices, switches, consoles, a HTPC, IR sensors, cameras, etc. Heck I'm even putting my 16 year old VCR into my HT room for nostalgic purposes .. :p .. Apart from the speakers (excluding Subs) and AVR, I got everything imported from the US ..

I spent the day today looking about the specs of every major device and added their wattage ... I equated only for things that might be on simultaneously, and it's coming to about 3500W ... From what I hear only 3 KVA and 6 KVA online UPSs are common, not 4 or 5 KVA ..

What was the total cost and what's the switchover time ?

i understand... ups with some headroom is a good way as rms power does not tell about the peaks that the speakers/woofers can hit...

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
