Received a OnePlus One invite out of nowhere and fortunately I was able to claim it. Ordered the phone on Tuesday and received it in 2 days.
Without further ado, pictures:
Initial impressions:
A ton of excitement because the phone is so exclusive. I have never been so impressed by the box and packaging of a mobile phone, everything is so meticulously crafted and there is a lot of attention to detail.
Display:
The 5.5" screen is certainly into phablet territory and demands double handed usage often. This phone makes my One M8 look like a kid.
Is that a bad thing? Yes and no. Despite the big screen size, handling the phone is a pleasure because of that amazing sandstone textured back. And watching videos is one amazing experience on this device. Plus, I am very much pleased with the sunlight legibility.
Build Quality:
Top marks here as well. The sandstone back feels darn good to hold and provides excellent grip. The chrome finishing on the edges looks absolutely brilliant.
Sound:
This phone has the loudest loudspeaker I have ever heard on a smartphone and the best part is that the audio output is perfectly clean which means that you don't get distortion even at maximum volume.
Headphones sound good but HTC One M8 is in a league of its own when it comes to sound quality with headphones.
Camera:
I still haven't used it that much but it's an excellent camera, leagues ahead that of HTC One M8. The level of detail and color balancing of the pictures is great. GSMArena has already rated this phone's camera among its top performers so that says a lot.
Operating System:
I have used Cyanogenmod before but CM11S on OnePlus One looks amazing and performs super fast. My favorite feature? The Themes Showcase. You can literally change the entire look of your phone.
Value for Money:
This goes without saying but this phone is the best bang for the buck for a flagship smartphone. I paid 300 Euros for the 64GB version. When I got the invite I was double minded about getting this because I got the HTC One M8 only 3 months ago, but when you realize what you get for the price you pay, getting this phone is a no-brainer.
Cons:
1. Headphone jack is on top, I believe it should have been at the bottom.
2. The phone has two speakers at the bottom but they are mono, not stereo.
3. Sound quality should have been better and volume levels should have been louder with headphones. But that's just me because the One M8 has spoiled me with its top notch sound quality.
Feel free to ask any questions.
