You are probably right. Actually, I have played many FPS games which use the buttons, that's why I was saying so.

It looks like controller is not the only thing WII U is copying.

They are bringing the once 360 exclusive title into its artillery.

Mass Effect 3 confirmed to be WII U launch title.

talk about pathetic conferences and this would be at the top off the list. Nintendo should learn a lesson and i want wii U to flop in sales. highly unlikely though considering their strong fanbase. ports of 1-2 year old games its that the best it can do apart from obvious mario games .
next gen starts when sony/ms say so not nintendo

@DarkLordMalik , @Soulhunter

mass effect 3 etc did they come to WII ? i dont think so, they are giving a chance to those LOYAL wii owners who didnt get to buy 360 or ps3 to play the same game ON WII-U when they get it, dont see anything wrong with it especially how 360 AND SONY are bringing OLD PS2 TITLES enhanced with a bit more hd gfx etc ! same could be said about that... PFFT enough said

anyways MORE news

E3 2012: Batman Arkham City for Wii U Detailed

During its E3 2012 press conference, Nintendo finally unveiled the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham City. Called the "Armored Edition," this version will include everything featured in the Arkham City Game of the Year Edition, including the extra challenge maps.
But the real question is how this version will differ from its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. Such was the focus of the trailer played during the conference, which showed a variety of ways the Wii U GamePad will be used to enhance gameplay.
Batman badassery is headed to Wii U.

The GamePad will allow players to do things like instantly access the Bat computer, set waypoints, upgrade Bruce and his equipment, individually detonate explosives and select gadgets. The GamePad will also be used as a Bat Sonar (which is something like a radar), and to collect information and biographies on characters and enemies.
The GamePad will also be used for hacking and to guide remote batarangs. Something called B.A.T. mode was also shown off, which is basically a meter that, once filled, allows Batman to execute powerful moves.

LOOKS like mass effect 3 aint the only one :p ARKHAM CITY W00T W00T

ended it . who cares. whats worse is that the so called next gen console will play 2year old game ports. probably going to miss out on ue4 (limited 3rd party support) and once again will have to rely on mario and zelda to save its ass .

New Super Mario Bros. U is Official

That footage dropped into Sunday afternoon's Nintendo Direct video presentation was indeed of the next Mario platformer. It's officially named New Super Mario Bros. U, and it will launch alongside the Wii U system.

Get ready for baby Yoshis ballooning up to carry you through the air, Flying Squirrel Mario and some inventive use of the new Wii U GamePad to interact with the Mushroom Kingdom like never before.

Up to four players can play as Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad or Mii characters, while a fifth player joins the action using the GamePad in "Boost Mode" to assist or impede the other players.

^^Why don't they rename it New Super Mari Bros HD :p

Actually, that's what Digital Foundary said. This new Super Mario Bros is basically graphically equivalent to the New Super Mario Bros Wii being emulated at HD resolution.

Old Wii Downloads Will Transfer to Wii U

Have you bought a bunch of Virtual Console games? Do you have endless SD cards filled to overflowing with purchased WiiWare? And are you frightened that those investments might be lost when the Wii U arrives to take its place as your primary Nintendo portable?
Fear not. They won't.

Nintendo has confirmed that all of your old Wii downloads – including WiiWare games and Virtual Console classics – will be able to be transferred to your new Wii U. The confirmation comes to us via ABC News, and the report goes on to say that a restructuring of user logins and accounts will occur to help make the transition happen.

We won't know for sure exactly what that means for a while, but if it's anything like the solution Nintendo came up with for moving DSiWare purchases to new 3DS units, the process should involve a lot of cute Pikmin scurrying around your screen.

---------------------------------------------

yes NINTENDO does know what the consumers WANT :D now i hope sony and microsoft do the same with their NEXT NEXT gen console :)

^Nice approach by Nintendo.

@manigamer
Sony did not even have backward compatibility for PS2 games, how can you think the next-gen console will have it for the PS3?

The situation was same for the PS2 customers. Wasn't it? Lol
The PSN games are mostly not much powerful hardware requiring ones so i believe they could be ported to the Vita?

Get Your Party On With Game & Wario

Wario’s trademark lunacy is making a return for Wii U.

Wii Sports aside, WarioWare: Smooth Moves was the piece of software that initially helped define Nintendo’s Wii as a party platform. It was also a really great game. As with any WarioWare title, there was something inexplicably humorous and fun about watching your buddies complete a series of random mini-games set in the zany world of Wario and friends. Yet despite its critical success and popularity, we haven’t seen a true Wario party game since the stout fiend first showed us his smooth moves at Wii’s launch - until now. That’s right, Wario is back, and ready to have his go with Nintendo’s newest home console, Wii U.

Take the mini-game Arrow, for example. This game has you shooting (you guessed it) arrows at a constantly oncoming barrage of Wario-faced enemies who are trying to steal your strawberry stash. The baddies start off in the distance, but if you let them get too close they’ll invade the GamePad’s screen, and you’ll have to stomp them with your finger before they steal your precious fruit. It’s a simple experience at first, but as more enemies with more capabilities show up (flying ones, ones that shoot back, and even a boss), things can suddenly become chaotic.

Another example is Shutter, which puts you behind the camera of a photographer assigned to zoom in and nab pictures of suspected snack bandits to plaster on the front page of a newspaper. You only have so long to scan the people strolling around the scene and nab all the suspects you were assigned to capture. To make matters even trickier, the people are constantly moving and ducking away behind buildings. You also have to make sure their eyes are open and that they’re not even slightly out of frame. It’s tough, but the GamePad’s capable and accurate tech makes for a smooth experience, never adding unnecessary challenge so you can focus on the task at hand.

Arrow and Shutter were just two of the four mini-games on display at this year’s show, the other two being Ski (where you tilt the GamePad to guide a skier down a slope) and the multiplayer offering Fruit (where one player is a fruit thief and the others have to sniff out who they are). All these games are simple experiences - the fun comes from their subtle jumps in difficulty and the joy of watching an acquaintance become unexpectedly overwhelmed by simple tasks.

My time with Game & Wario was quite enjoyable, exemplifying the idea that Wii U games don’t necessarily have to use the GamePad in complex ways to feel worthwhile. I also learned that those who steal snacks are evil and deserve to be punished in strangely satisfying ways. That said, none of the mini-games I played had that same addictive quality that made Smooth Moves and the Game & Watch series so successful. Still, I’m interested to see if the complete game has what it takes to reignite the partygoer in us all. If so, anticipate many late nights and buttery bowls of popcorn in your near future - all in the name of Wario.
