there is however an absolutely ridiculous loophole in the story....

since the edo-tensei is technically tobirama's technique, he obviously knows the counter seal... and hashirama knows it too, since ... well... he's god....

remember when oro summoned these two against the third during the very beginning of naruto? why didn't these two cancel that technique then and there?

and secondly, why were they weak as fuck back then? hashirama had EVERYTHING... why was he using simple wood techniques back then? and tobirama? normal water techniques?

i don't think kishimoto thought that far ahead back then

i dunno about the exact chapters... but i believe it was somewhere around the time when kurama became naruto's new BFF.... i could be wrong though... i don't really remember the right chapters

Actually, Orochimaru mentioned that this time he is not controlling their personality or any other constraint. Which hints that the first time Oro summoned them he was controlling them and their personalities so they won't be able to do anything except following the summoners orders. Also Kabuto mentioned something, I don't remember it properly that he is losing his control over Madara sometime after he summoned him.

that's not right.... the summoned person is controlled by the summoner by default.... the only way to exert complete control is by completely removing the summoned person's personality (as you mentioned) and they turn into some kind of a machine.... during the old fight, orochimaru does not do this... the proof is that the first actually speaks to the third... and he's like im sorry but i have to fight you (or something to that effect).... and tobirama looks at oro and says this brat summoned me.... if they were in their senses, and knew the counter seal, and knew they were being used for something evil, why didn't they just escape the spell....

I had to go back and read the chapters of that fight once again! Check out chapter 118 and 119. When Oro first summons them they have their personalities for a brief moment, during which they talk with the third, Oro and themselves. Later Oro put a kunai with some writing in to each of their heads, due to which they are just puppets, completely losing their personalities and becoming killing machines under Oro control. But still it might be that Kisihi didn't plan this much ahead of time, so he didn't know what he had to do with Edo Tensei and summoners in the future.

I feel that if Hashirama had been a bit more careful and didn't leave his DNA everywhere he went. The series would have ended 500 pages ago.

Also, opinions about Itachi Uchiha from Mangafox members:

of course itachi knew all of this! he predicted all of this happening when he was 7 years old. if he wanted he could have used izanazi to go back in time to stop it but he wanted sasuke to be a hero. so to answer your question yes. itachi knew it and when he was fghting kabuto he knew it too. may he come back from the dead to stop the ten tails, madara, and obito in the name of the father, the son, and the holy itachi. may his word be done. all hail itachi!
