Joe Root is the best thing to happen to England since Strauss retired.

Mohsin Khan (MHK) was on tv last night as a guest in Nauman Niaz's show. He said that in his capacity as Chief Selector, he gave Pakistan two Joe Roots. Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali. Was ruing why they're in and out of the team so quickly. And he has a point.

I doubt Asad Shafiq has played 5 matches on the trot since last year. A solitary ODI against South Africa, was dropped against them in the CT, dropped after two ODIs in WI and the list only prolongs as we go further back.
I was all for dropping him in Fire vs Fire but a bit of deliberation says that he was treated unfairly. The team management has only 'managed' to shatter his confidence imo.

Yup as i said before asad shafiq is a decent player and shud be given more and more chances while on the other hand azhar ali is also like misbah he has also quite defensive approch (correct me if i am wrng)

Azhar Ali is technically quite poor. He's very Younis Khan-like except that YK is an extremely hard worker. YK was never as gifted a batsman as Yousuf or Inzi but he reached this level solely due to his fierce determination.
The South African tour ripped open Azhar Ali's technical deficiencies. He would perform well in Asia but I won't trust him overseas. He's patient and crafty but appears to idolize the wrong person i.e Misbah.

Asad Shafiq is in the Yousuf/Inzi mould of batsmen. Pleasing to the eye when in full flow.

14,0,0,19,92*,5,10,12 were his scores against England in England. That unbeaten 92 came at The Oval, a ground that has historically favoured the subcontinent teams.
He was a pain to watch in that tour tbh. A fighter, nevertheless, as his antics in the UAE against the same opposition proved.

But there aren't any option available @ this time only few like Fawad Alam, Haris Sohail, Usman Salahuddin & perhaps Hasan Raza who is like Younis Khan i think, r some options available.
The domestic circuit is not producing any promising young cricketers specially in batting department, & also the influx of T20 cricket in to domestic circuit is making it even worse than ever.

I wouldn't make too many changes to our test side. We just need to do away with dead weights like Hafeez and replace him with someone like Fawad or Umar Akmal. And Adnan Akmal in place of Sarfraz of course.

According to Nauman Niaz, a selector, on conditions of anonymity, said that the team selection committee is against having two Akmals into the team.

I actually hate this thing when a test is drawn. :/

I think Hafeez created the problem in paki batting order. He and Nasir were doing so well at the top and then after few matches, he dropped himself down the order.
Ahmed shehzad is un reliable. He might score a 50 but his next four innings score will be less than 10.

Umer Amin is one of the few players with solid technique. Others ( most of them ) are sloggers/tullay like u.akmal shehzad etc... U amin needs to get few chances

Wahab Riaz destabilises ths team. We cant afford to have 3 left arm fast bowlers. 2 are adequate. Even though Wahab has been in great form, has been picking wickets but is better a backup option. Irfan has become our prime bowler, cant loose him. We need junaid because he is good with new ball and at the death. Wahab struggles with new ball and at the death.
I'd have one right arm bowler. Not sure if Asad ali is the one but he can improve too.
