its not about getting banned, its about the few checks that they have introduced in this update release, so may be they are tracking the noobs down who updated the dashboard & still playing online via a modded console!

seriously what is up with all the noobs in this thread. Shani u should have done some research before updating. Dont listen to people saying that they havent gotten banned yet. They will get struck by the ban hammer eventually. And also some of the newer games like Fable 3 are not working because they have introduced some new checks with the update so it may be possible that upcoming games might not work on the new dashboard, weather offline or online. Seriously I already posted these facts a while ago. Please check a few of the previous posts before asking the same question over and over again. And Shinigami yes that noob friend of mine thought he was very smart for updating and than he called me up saying that he did not get banned. I asked him to try running Fable 3 a game which he was already playing and he got the "disc is unreadable error" Lol... He checked black ops next but it was working, I dont think he played it online though cause i havent see him online after our conversation

i have an unmodded slim which i updated to the new dashboard last night. update went smoothly and i played modern warfare 2 online without any issues. all that was just for information purposes of course considering most people are wondering about modded consoles.

from team executer's website and c4eva, it seems that the new dashboard introduces real time cache, buffer and firmware checks. the LT+ firmware currently in the works DOES take care of these checks, however, the version they're working on as of right now is only for the 360 S. Fable III was perhaps one of the first games to implement the real time checks, hence with a beta version of the new dashboard it would give a 'disc not recognized' error because the software wasn't recognized.

just to clear up a few confusion points:

1. you can use your xbox offline just as you always have if you do not connect to xbox live.
2. if you connect to xbox live, you have to download the new dashboard otherwise you will not be able to sign in to live.
3. if your console is already banned from live, i would imagine you won't be able to download the new dashboard anyway so nothing to worry about anyway.
4. for people who got their 360 S modded, the update WILL mess up the mod and not play pirated games, so best not to update right now.
5. for the old 360, i don't have one myself so i can't say for sure, but pirated games are still playing with the new dashboard. the ban hammer will fall sooner or later if you are playing on live so i'd stay away from XBL for the time being until xecuter releases an updated firmware.

all the same, anyone's who has more info or something different to add, please share.

And also,has the new 360 slim been allready broken?? it can play moded games? or online? i am thinking of getting one,but the original game crap is too expensive,but that sure was fast,and any idea when (which month or week) will the new mod for the new dashbord come?? for the old and new 360slim i mean.sorry for asking soo many questions,i ate a lot of sugar

the slim is being modded by a couple of members on here...xboyhot and modmaster; problem is it's not safe for xbox live or the new dashboard. on the old dashboard it plays all pirated games offline of course.

there is no news from xecuter about new firmware for the slim, however, the most likely time frame is sometime after the release of kinect (hopefully within November). anyone who has the slim and wants to continue playing online would do well to wait for the "official" hack.

I updated to the latest firmware with new console - ppl with modded consoles i dont think they should come on line coz ban wave will start soon and flaged consoles will be banned - the new update is ok i guess not that fancy

So does it mean that even in order to play offline, a new game like Fable 3, we need to update the dashboard???
As i don't wish to go online and i dont update my dashboard will i be able to play the latest games offline or not???

C4E posted some updates about the Xbox360 fall2010 dashboard security on #FW@EFnet. He reports the Update Process itself seems ‘safe’ at the moment, however that doesn’t mean you can go ahead updating and booting everything you want. AP2.5 games are a problem/unsafe for sure (and we don’t know exactly which titles all have or will have AP2.5 active). For the rest nothing is 100% confirmed safe.

I think it would be a smart move if you just let the ban wave pass, get the new FW and then go on live.....unless you feel like wasting your current xbox

so older games r kinda safe with the new dash....its only the newer games that use ap2.5 that r not safe atm.

Is updating the dashboard on xbox 360 directly and update from a USB the same thing? Because, it seems like updating to the latest dashboard is kinda safe. Can I update it from USB and then maybe go online sometime. Will that not cause a ban?

everybody update their consoles. I updated mine its great now im going to get banned so you should also update and get banned with me,
