You couldn't walk more than a few feet without running into a 3D-enabled TV at CES 2010. Sony was showing several demonstrations of PlayStation 3 games with 3D flipped on (Super Stardust HDwas particularly impressive), while Microsoft was only showing one, an Xbox Live Arcade game called Scrap Metal. Plus, it wasn't the "new" 3D -- it was the "old" 3D. Does that say something about Microsoft's stance on the 3D revolution the tech industry was pushing at CES? I asked.
"From the technical standpoint, we are fully 3D capable. We have 3D games running today," said Microsoft's Xbox group product manager Aaron Greenberg to me at CES last week.
Greenberg conceded that it's possible Microsoft will embrace 3D...eventually. Maybe.
"As consumer interest for 3D grows, we'll grow with it," he said. "I think right now we're unsure what level of interest there is from consumers to really want a 3D experience in the living room. Many, many years from now when it becomes a reality, we absolutely can support it, we do support it today. If developers want to make more 3D games, they can."
In addition to Scrap Metal, Greenberg pointed to Avatar: The Game as another 3D-supporting game on Xbox 360. But in an unsurprising turn of events, Microsoft would rather encourage developers to look at Project Natal as a way to change the way games. He did admit the 3D works great at the movies.
"I think 3D is a great experience in the theater and I thought Avatar was fantastic," he said, "but there's a lot of challenges about 3D in the living room. I don't know about you, but when I play games or watch TV, I've got my phone, I've got all kinds of things going on. I get up, I get down, I'm looking outside at the weather and it's...I'm not in a dark theater, wearing glasses, staring at a screen. I think it's just a different environment."
Because the tech industry is pushing 3D so hard, however, Greenberg says Microsoft's technically on board. From a first-party perspective, they're going to remain on the sidelines for the time being.
"It [3D] is the hot thing at CES and we've got 3D on the show floor, so we've checked the 3D box if that's important to people," he said. "If it becomes really important and people want to do more with it, we're absolutely happy to support it."

^ Its fun too, having games in 3D, Avatar is latest having 3D capabilities and have lots of options.

But it didn't have the options for Red/Cyan, too bad for me though :crying:

Btw right click on the video and watch it in youtube site, at the right bottom you can find lots of 3D options for your match e.g. Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta,

Cuz youtube is now supporting 3D now......(1)

Well its just expensive... otherwise I don't think people will be hesitant to take the plunge. Nvidia supports f**ktons of games in 3D and the ones tagged with 'Good' support are actually REALLY fun to play....the most recent one I tried was Assassin's Creed and leap of faith was a 100 times better in 3D!!

does this thing work with anaglyphic glasses or does it need 3D shutter glasses??

because I read that with anaglyphic glasses, you can only view black and white properly

One misconception about 3D (which I also had) was that 3D is still stuck in the age of the "red/green" glasses, however after recently seeing Avatar in Imax 3D (with normal 3D glasses), I for one was impressed. MS should not leave 3D games like they left blu-ray because unlike blu-ray, 3D gaming will pick up and become the norm for future gaming.

Yeah it can work with anaglyphic glasses Green/Magenta ones too (I've only have RED/Blue ones, didn't work). The best choice will be polarized 3D glasses.

For those 3D isn't seems great watch out the video, same game on PS3 with Polarized 3D Glasses

Awesome as hell, checkout the Depth of Field.....

Yeah PS3 can do it, Avatar on Xbox 360, PS3, PC have same options....

When using LCD Shutter Glasses (mfg by nvidia) 120Hz is must but for polarized 3D glasses used in above video there is no need 120hz or a special LCD.....
so special software?? which one exactly?

Avatar has 3D options in display setting (All platforms), but MS can add this thing to their firmware for existing games...so no software for console, for pc i think special drivers required for it but its another story, we r talking about consoles having 3D capabilities in most games of future.....

I think an optical media format being a norm has better chances than 3D gaming. Hell even HDTVs aren't the norm yet so what makes you think 3D HDTVs will be? Also, you really think MS is gonna stick to DVD for their next console?

Can someone tell me the Price of 3D Braiva LCD? plz
No pricing yet but atleast $2000 at launch this summer.

Before the end of this decade, the 3D gaming will be a standard. From tech that is coming in 2010, Project Natal + 3D = Future of Gaming, provided they don't turn Project Natal into Wii360 full of shovelware.

Yeah :)
But just like using Mouse and Keyboard all the time and still not get a wristache (most of the time), we'll also be used to wearing the glasses while playing. Its just a matter of time before this technology become widespread.. :)

It's currently unclear whether the 360's outdated HDMI 1.2 spec can be updated to fully interface with 3D tech....hence, the overall fidelity of the console's 3D offerings is somewhat in doubt

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
