Oh man I vividly remember the ending of the original Mafia - "Mr. Salieri sends his regards". It was such a surreal experience playing that game. I hope that its a proper remake and not just a numb remaster. Mafia 1 was love.

Early access is available if you own the games already or when you pre-order Mafia: Trilogy

In a surprise announcement Tuesday, publisher 2K made remastered versions of two games in the critically acclaimed Mafia trilogy available for immediate download. The news comes less than one week after the announcement of an upgraded version of all three games in the series, which are being sold together under the title Mafia: Trilogy.
Both Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition are available now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam for those who pre-order Mafia: Trilogyprior to Aug. 28. Additionally, players who already own the original versions of those games on certain platforms will be granted immediate access to the new versions on those platforms. The offer also includes free and discounted add-on content for both titles.
Meanwhile, Mafia: Definitive Edition won’t be available until the Aug. 28 release date. Tuesday’s announcement was also accompanied by new trailers for all three games.
“Mafia II: Definitive Edition will be automatically granted to all existing owners of Mafia IIon Steam today at no additional cost,” 2K said Tuesday in a news release. “Additionally, all existing Mafia III owners on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam will be upgraded to Mafia III: Definitive Edition today at no additional cost. Customers who own a combination of titles will receive special reduced-price upgrade offers to complete their trilogy via in-game menus within each of the Mafia titles.”

Development of the games is being led by 2K’s Hanger 13 development studio, whose approach differs on each title. Mafia: Definitive Edition is described as a “built-from-the-ground-up remake,” while Mafia 2: Definitive Edition is an “ultra HD remaster.” Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is listed as a “re-introduction.” All three titles will feature 4K graphics. 2K also says these titles are due out on the Epic Games Store and Google Stadia “at a later date.”

Now that's how you do it, give free remasters to thsoe already owning the games ! i got mafia 3 free from psplus wonder if i get remaster too but sad that mafia 2 i have on ps3 so im outta luck there ;(

PS4 version of Mafia 2 Definitive is free if you make a Malaysian PSN account (after downloading, you can play and get trophies on your main account).

yeah you can make any psn account primary on the ps4 and that would make any game work on your main account.

It's probably just the PC version with max settings, and it has all the DLC content included.

Mafia 1 is the one that's being rumored to get a proper remastering with new textures/lighting etc.

I would literally Play 100$ for Mafia 1. It was the best game of the decade. The story, dialogue, gameplay was way ahead of time. Very immersive. How can i forget the legendary racing mission or the barn or you getting double crossed. Man Its like a dream come true. I tried several graphic mods but nothing comes close to a full remake. Best news of my gaming life

just my luck, i was there made a new gmail new psn and than when trying to put in cart it was removing it and sometimes i was even at checkout but damn it didnt go through and later removed it altogether damn it

Mafia 2 Definitive Edition has to be the worst Remaster ever. It literally looks uglier than before. I wonder how can one call it definitive edition. I think the only worth buying in the entire trilogy is Mafia 1.
