Downhill? I have not seen it yet so I am judging by ratings, seems to be doing good. (I know, the rating will go down more, as more and more ppl watch it, but I still think it would be around 7.4. Not bad)

I love this series. The 3rd one was bad...but still.

Rotten Tomatoes is the best site to get a collective overview of what the critics think, you know, the people that are PAID to watch movies, the only people that are qualified to make conclusions about a movie before it's out.
IMDB has its fair share of smart people but they're far outnumbered by the "ooh I love this movie, imma give it 10/10" or the "this movie blows, I haven't even seen it but here's a 0/10 for it"
Yeah I think I'll stick with Rottentomatoes.
Anyways I don't judge movies by their "ratings", I see them for myself and then judge but when it's a movie like this and the reviews are bad, odds are it's going to be shit.

It is true, with the exception of very few movies, ratings give the general idea how good a movie is. Perhaps this may be an exception. Atleast for me.

And Critics generally hate a 3rd sequel (for any movie, especially a blockbuster). So for this movie, IMDB is perhaps a better place to judge the movie.

This one might disappoint. Few of my friends mentioned that this is the WORST POTC sequel. But yea, can't say anything until I have watched it myself.

WARNING: THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN ELEMENTS FROM THE TRAILER.

In simple terms; it is an improvement from POTC 3. But the first 2 were great. This one is okish-good. It should be noted that I watched this movie the way it was meant to be watched. (3D + Surrond Sound) so that really upped the experience.

The story is surprisingly easy to follow, but ALOT is going on. So many things are going on that it really brings down the script. The fountain of youth idea was good, but it could have been done alot better. The comedy parts are not as funny as the first 3. The acting was top-notch. Really, really good acting. The direction was also pretty decent, but the 3D effects were not amazing. Far from amazing, just above average. Not surprising, since they filmed it in 2D and converted it to 3D. Overall the main weakness of the movie is the script.

I loved the mermaid idea, and how they directed those sequences. That was awesome...really awesome. The mermaid was absolutely stunning.

Overall, this movie is good enough, don't expect it to be top POTC 1 & 2. The movie could have been done better.

I really missed the old crew though, and also kinda missed Will and Elizabeth.

oh and If your at the Cinema deciding whether to watch POTC 4 or Fast 5, I would say Fast 5.
