how to do video convertions using gpu rather than on cpu ?

Salaam all
i just wanted to know if there is any way to use GPU to convert videos using total video converter ?
I think that All load is on cpu while conversion and this makes no sense of having a GPU that is capable and Still using Cpu for video convertions
my GPU is MSI 4670 2d1g (750/875) 1 gb ddr 3
and CPU is pentium E [email protected] GHZ

i think that is for nvidia gpus only

For nVidia / Cuda, badaboom is the fastest but It doesnt have that many customization option. You are better off using MediaCoder. A little technical but its the best media converter out there. Unfortunately it does not support ATI GPU conversion.

For ATI, use ATI software Avivo.

Thats the only one I know that utilizes ATI GPUs.

Nvidia Cuda is basically C++ Extension library. That's why Nvidia has more capabilities. I am not sure about if something similar exists for ATI.

Install Avivo from amd site as mentioned above by Kmat then use this convertor. Alternatively you could use MediaShow Espresso.

@ Kingsface I have installed avivo and the converter u mentioned but it is not converting it allows me to select gpu recognizes rv730 but 0 fps conversion rate and after about 30 seconds it gives a message conversion completed but it is aborted what am I doing wrong and which formats I can convert

Unlike badaboom and cuda ati's avivo makes use of both cpu and gpu. When you are converting using avivo you are infact using both gpu and cpu. I convert tv shows to ipod format at a rate of 350-400fps to give you an idea.

It is likely some driver issue. Ati avivo is an optional download from amd website and not normally included in catalyst drivers. If you are using 11.2 drivers then also use the same version for avivo drivers.

well I have AVIVO installed but should I run it in parallel with that converter you recommended sorry if it irritates but I want to learn it

No, once u have avivo installed you don't need to use anything but the convertor. If you are facing difficulty using the A video convertor mentioned above try using MediaShow Espresso. It is also amd avivo enabled.

yes media espresso is working fine utilizing both CPU and GPU
