Those temps seems fine to me. Slightly more than what you'd expect from a dual-core, but nevertheless it's acceptable after all it's a 45nm chip and Google tells me that E8400 tend to run hot.

Mid summer is approaching. temps would be around that mark for at least a couple of months. I also have a 45nm processor and it goes to 74 during prolonged gaming sessions just a month back it never touched 70. cleaning the dust and reapplying the thermal paste would help but even without it there is nothing alarming about it.

kashifji! Your Temperatures are high, true. But they are still FINE.

You can get a cheap Aftermarket Cooler if you are worried about Higher Temperatures, something like a Thermaltake Contact.

Another reason (apart from the very hot weather) for higher temperatures would be the 'Cheap Fan' (I am assuming you are talking about heatsink) you are using.

I've said it many times and I'll say it again. Your room's ambient temperature plays a major role in keeping your system temps down. If your ambient room temperature is close to 40C, there's not much you can do to keep it down, unless ofcourse you switch on the AC.

With the current temps in Lahore hitting 46+ these days, I'd say those are "OK" temps. But do put a fan or two to bring it into 60's.

Core 2 Duo E8400 does have heating issues despite being dual-core. Temps around 65C or under are considered absolutely fine. Even above that you're still safe, but not advisable for the long run though.

My e8200 is touching 80 in prolong sessions but still I think its fine because cpu is running dry with stock heat sink fan and room temperature in the harsh summer is also high enough so the fault doesn't rest with the chip.
