What with the stupid rule "Don't take off shirt in gym" in some places in Pakistan? I workout in buniyan (vest) and previous gym had rule that if you take off shirt you will be banned from premises. I moved to another gym because there are 5 gyms in my town.

Thankfully new one does not have this rule but yesterday a guy started lecturing me about how good local bodybuilders never took off their shirts during workout and i should do the same.

Its generally a good idea to hide your body from others bad sight. Nazar lag jaati hay. However, I have never lectured anyone for that matter because jis ka Jo dil karta hay karay.

Besides, don't pay attention to such people in the gym, who will not let go of any moment of advice. Har banda apnay andar ustaad hay ... If you know what I mean.

That makes sense and I guess thats the reason my mom made me wear silver-plated thing around neck in second month of lifting. also it feels great working out in vest/tank top, not going to listen to any 'ustad' in my gym :D

Do in which ever style you like, i also workout in bunyan it is easy to see what i am doing beside this there is another theory that you will be able to concentrate more if you dont see it, cuttler kai and some other pro do it in this way. Here every body just keeps speaking stupid shit on which i mostly laugh and yes some laugh on me lol.

Was there any logic for getting banned by removing the shirt, ladies or some thing like that !

And it is two hot in my gym i get too much sweat is it ok, Puppet !

I will suggest not to lift for 3 4 days , and wait if the pain goes or not , else see a doctor

A cousin was considering saving up cash for an exercise machine since she plans on losing weight. She decided to opt for an elliptical rather than a treadmill.

I have a few questions regarding the elliptical:

Is there some particular form/model/brand of elliptical she should consider? I know there are more than one varieties since I heard something about some machines that allow a person to stride in reverse.

Secondly, how much should she be prepared to spend? There are plenty of machines ranging from Rs. 18,000 all the way to 2 lac. I don't believe they are all the same, what's so special?

In light of all this, what forms and brands/models of elliptical would you guys suggest if you do suggest the machine at all?

Thank you.

PS: I'd appreciate if those who are knowledgeable on the matter can point me towards pictures of the particular brand/model of the machine and/or links to shops where I can buy them.

You don't need the reverse peddle one. That's just ridiculous.

All running/jogging/stationary machines come with following attributes;

Weight Limit
Manual Machine
Automatic/Electronic Machine

For home use, A manual machine should be good. You don't necessarily need to spend more to get electric.

In the case of elipticals, you can get self-powered ones. [The electornics start working when the machine is moving.]

What you NEED to go for is something that is sturdy and something that can take a beating.

The weight issue is serious. Don't go for light material, specially plastic crap.

I am a regular user of elliptical, bike and step machine ,

My advice will be to buy a staionary bike , which is much more cheaper and effetive ,
2Ndly go for life fitness products , my gyms all machine are of life fitness brand

Thanks for the advice. I think you meant lifestyle; not life fitness.

Could you tell me which model and type of elliptical you have and how well it has served you?
Secondly, how much would an elliptical cost and which sort you recommend?
Finally, which places in exactly in Rawalpindi would you recommend getting one from? I'd appreciate if you could guide me to the shop locations.

crazyhassan Thanks alot. So you recommend only Life Fitness and no other brand.

Could you comment on the cost, please?
Could you also mention the maximum that a person should be willing to pay for this and what you had to pay when you got it?

Update: I contacted Metro Cash n Carry and they seem to hold fitness products (including elliptical trainers) from Slimline Fitness only which cost Rs. 18,000.
