Sir I am having a problem with my dsl wifi modem Infact i want to use it as tp link router because i want to get internet connection from my neighbour wire has reached at my home and it works fine when i use it directly but when i connect this wire with ptcl wifi modem , wifi works fine but later it shut down browsing later on when i turn off ptcl modem again turns on after a while it agains works fine
where is problem
any suggestion please
NOTE:
my neighbour is using two routers already i.e (Ptcl wifi modem and TP link router ) while my wire is connected with his tp link router

Everything is working fine except, that i cannot access connect.net.pk and dodear.com the local sites i.e.

with direct cable its accessing fine. but when i use router i cannot open connect.net.pk.
dodear.com though opens, but without images and i cannot download anything from it.

please help urgently ....

I have EXACTLY the same problem. This wonderful thread helped me successfully configure and install Tenda W316 Router so I could use my connect Blue package through wifi. I remember using DoDear webtv on an android and it was working fine. I also used DoDear to download some stuff on PC, and it was fine. But the very next day I had the same problem that you speak of: dodear loads but the thumbnails won't, webtv doesn't work, and I can't download a thing. I unplugged the router and directly connected the LAN cable to PC and it was back to normal, it was all working. Any brother could help us out and it'll be hugely appreciated. Thanks

Dlink 600 and W316 are not approved by Connect Communications to work with their network. Kindly check Approved routers on first page.
Dodear works fine for me over WiFi.

i know know sir ... thats why i am asking for a work around. i donot feel like investing in another router again.

buy the way today atleast the images are loading (NOTE: i didn't make any changes) ... i wonder what happened maybe in a few days the downloads will start too . anyone else has any work around or something plz

What is the IP Address of your PTCL Wifi Modem, because it might be causing the problem again and again because its DHCP Server hasn't been disbaled. So therefore if its enabled then disable it and along with that if your and your neighbours modem and router IP Addresses are same then you can also face similar issues, so take all the suggestions under consideration and then report back to us.

It might be a port issue. You can try enabling uPnP in your wireless routers (if it is disabled by default) and check again after a router restart.

I don't have Connect so I can't say this for sure.

firstly i am new to this forum so plz tolerate any mistakes or violations i may commit in my post,

i am having a very strange problem with setting up my wifi router to my cable net and really need help to resolve it as my cablenet guy has given up and i dnt knw much abt routers,
P.S it is going to be a long post so plz bear with me here.

following is the nature of my problem

The router Model is TP-LINK Wireless N Router ---> TL - WR740N
Hardware Version TL - WR740Nv3
Firmware Version wr740nv3_en_3_12_7_up(101230)

The router connects to my pc fine, the router setting page opens at 192.168.1.1 (default)

in Network --> WAN settings i hv selected ppt/pptrussia
entered my Connect.net username and password
entered blue.connect.net.pk as my server address
in MTU Size field i entered 1400 (1420 is default, but 1400 works for my friend who has same router)
saved settings, rebooted router,

Now router connects to internet fine and my pc is showing internet access via router, but i cant open any pages,
if i try to open connect.net.pk site, it sometimes works but loads extremely slow, takes upto 2 minutes to show CONNECT logo with orange page, but then either stops there with PAGE CAN'T BE DISPLAYED error or it shows complete page instantly.

if i try top open any other site, page keeps on loading until is shows PAGE CAN'T BE DISPLAYED eror
if i try to open google.com, the browser shows "connected to google.com" but end result is same as above.


so far i have tried the following to resolve this,

reset router, no joy.
tried firmware update, same results.

took the router to my friend's house where he uses the same router model as mine, his package is CONNECT BLUE. surprisingly my router works as soon as we plugged it into his pc and connect it to main cable net wire, no need to even change any settings in router settings page.Also working on all mobile devices. MY CONCLUSION -- my router is working fine and settings are also correct.

exchanged my router with his, tried to connect his router with my pc but same result as above.

so i figure problem is with my main internet connection, but internet works absolutely fine when connected directly to my pc,
then i tried disabling my windows firewall, and uninstalled my third party firewall.double checked for blocked ports and opened what ever i found blocked.

then i thought maybe the problem is with my windows or some configuration i may have changed, so tried to disconnect router from my pc and tried with only main cable net connected to router and tried to access internet from multiple mobile devices, result is same as explained above. router settings page shows that it is connected to blue.connect.net.pk using my username and password but no pages open. so apparently the problem isn't with my pc or windows configuration.

strangely when i open utorrent with my router connected to pc, utorrent is downloading my torrents but barely at 1 to 2 kbps, IT IS updating its SEEDS and PEERS found statistics in Trackers tab which means it is getting internet access but xtremely limited and slow.Also i can occasionally see a couple of peers connected and downloading.

someone told me to Disable -- Re enable DHCP Server in my router settings, that failed too.

my local internet guy has given up and says there is nothing else left to try. plz help me with this.


following are details of my pc, internet connection and router, also my friend's pc with which we tried to connect it and it worked fine at his house.

My Router (friend has the same one)

Following is my cable connector settings:
(holding the connector upside down and reading colors from Right to Left, the wire has paired colored wired with respective white wires)

Main Cable net wire connector
Orange-- white of orange -- blue -- white of green -- green -- white of blue -- brown -- white of brown
(orange right most and white of brown at left most side)

cable from router to pc
brown -- white of brown -- green -- white of blue -- blue --white of green -- orange -- white of orange
(brown right most and white of orange at left most side)

i just skimmed through it and the only thing that clicked me is "The router connects to my pc fine, the router setting page opens at 192.168.1.1 (default)". try changing gateway to 192.168.0.1 and see how things workout.

Thank you very much for your reply and really sorry for my late response, i have been away for a while and had no internet access.
and my problem is fixed now my younger brother decided to fix it somewhat the same way he fixes his other gadgets (off kr k on kro thk ho jayega ). what he did was change all cables including the main internet cable and when i got back the router was working fine now.

anyway thanks for your input, your soloution might have worked but unfortunately i didn't get a chance to try it. thanks anyway though.God bless you.

Some one please help!!!! DoDear and Connect.net.pk don't work when using router... (images don't load, can't download anything etc. )
Now even when I connect my cable directly to the PC it says the Ethernet Cable is broken or unplugged... but my router recognizes it! How can this be? Is there a way that I can use DoDear without necessarily doing the plugging thing? It's very inconvenient when I have to plug/unplug the cable from my CPU and plug it to Router and vice versa! Please give a solution to this or an alternative/easy way. Thanks!!
