God of War: Ghost of Sparta is an upcoming action-adventure game, set to be released November 2, 2010, being collaboratively developed by Ready at Dawn and SCE Santa Monica Studio exclusively for the PlayStation Portable. Ghost of Sparta is the second God of War title developed for the PSP and the sixth installment in the God of War series.
Loosely based on Greek mythology and focused on protagonist Kratos, the game forms part of a saga - the God of War series - with revenge as a central theme. This chapter is set to reveal the origins of Kratos and depict his early days as the new God of War.

Gameplay

The game will feature gameplay similar to previous installments in the series. It is a third-person action adventure game, where the player controls Kratos, containing quick time events, box-based puzzles and boss fights. The game will feature new weapons, magical powers and navigational abilities not present in previous games, and has been cited as featuring 25 percent more gameplay than its PSP predecessor Chains of Olympus.
Kratos' arsenal will include the "Blades of Athena" and the "Arms of Sparta" (a spear and shield). The combat system has been updated to allow Kratos to "pummel enemies to the ground as well as throw them", and perform air-to-air attacks. An "augmented death system" is also being trialled.
The first magic ability confirmed for the game is the electrical attack the "Eye of Atlantis". As with previous games, the weapons and magic can be upgraded.

Plot

Taking place during Kratos' time as the God of War, the story will expand on Kratos' origins and reveal the background on the lost city of Atlantis (mentioned by Poseidon in God of War III).[3] Among Kratos' new foes will be the legendary King Midas and the sea monster Scylla.[6]
The "Origins" trailer reveals that the relationship between Kratos, his mother, and brother (whose name is revealed to be "Deimos") will be explored in the game. The trailer also features the Gravedigger from God of War (Zeus in disguise)

^I was just gonna say that after playing the demo ! It ain't mindless at all..

Superb demo indeed.. they were not joking... it's gow and it's wonderful! They were quite generous with the length of the demo too... nearly 30 mins of gameplay in demo...

+ Same epic graphics
+ Kratos as Brutal as ever
+ The new Spear is as good as the chains itself
+ The new slam move is wicked!
+ The new magic Eye of Atlantis is cool and you can get 200+ hits easily with it ( I got 126 on my first try!)
+ And yes it's Ghost of Sparta and it's AHA'xome!

I am already standing on on my toes and waiting for it...

Just played the demo and man it was mind blowing!

The graphics were so damn sexy! Man I mean its been so much time since I last saw such quality graphics...I was speechless at many occassions.

Both the weapons are good though its kinda hard to do a combo using both like dmc. Anyways it was one helluva demo have pumped me up for the full game!

And that L+O move is epic! Do that in mid air and some awesome blood show!

The boss was pretty huge man! Though it aint over yet but the first encounter was rather easy, the real deal will start where the demo leaves us! I read it somewhere that one of the boss is so huge that it can SWALLOW scyla (this demo boss) whole! Now that would be something!

I am very much excited for the full game. Bring it ON!


Oh btw anyone tried out the Areana mode? It surely turns the game into mindless bloody fun!

Demo was awesome really liked beautiful water falls...in game sounds...new alternative weapon...running grab...p.s many more...
and arena mode is really fun i played putting random in both slot and played for infinite time till i get exhausted...

I think I am gonna get hated in this thread.

My impressions:

+ New variety of combos
+ Control scheme is slick
+ More brutal
+ Better bossfights
+ New weapons = more ways to be brutal

- Felt kind of recycled
- Graphics are same as Chains of Olympus with slight improvements (played both side by side)
- Didn't get me really excited

Don't get me wrong, the demo was great. But I felt it to be the same as before. However, that's my opinion. I'll surely try out the whole game as well, and then I'll give my final verdict.

I somewhat agree with you. :/

Unless they stop releasing '3D' games on the PSP and focus more on 'cartoon' games (like Disgaea and Valkyria Chronicles) then I'll continue with PSP gaming. I just can't stand how the handheld pretends to be like it's console counterpart.

Same here.. Iv had enough of psp games .. This will be my last psp game , all consoles have a certain lifespan.. The psp is dead close to it's expiry

@Ahmad I quiet don't agree with you there man. Though I felt the same way while I was playing the demo.

But seem to have missed some details the sharper environments than CoO its the psp man and I guess thats the best it can do! Haven't seen anything better than that! Did you see the dynamic shadows?

That scyla battle was very much similar to the basilisk battle in CoO but I am gonna hold my horses till I get to play the full game.

Yaar I agree that the graphics are sharper now, but the way the demo progressed was so recycled. I was expecting something more different, but I guess it's fair to say that GoS needs more playtime. In other words, we'll have to play the whole game to give the final analysis.
