So just finished watching Season 5 of Game of thrones. Overall, this was the weakest season in my opinion. First couple of episodes were really slow.

Episode 8 was probably one of the best if not the best episode of the whole show. Totally took me by surprise and loved every bit of it, especially the final scene. SO SO AWESOME. I've been waiting a long time to see the white walker army again.

And the ending, WTF man, why did this have to happen? So fucking depressed. I just want the White Walkers to just obliterate everything in westeros now.

It wasn't for the "fun" of it. As much as I hate to admit it, Jon definitely had this coming. He's a STARK after all.

Build him up for 5 years and when he was finally about ti become someone... killed... stannis was even worse... this show is not character driven....

I kinda agree. If Jon doesn't appear in season 6, I'll be heavily disappointed with this show.

i think he will return but in another form with another actor... this actor might come back in flashbacks... azor ahai or whatever... i also heard that he could be actually a tragareyn... anyways, we will find out... and if stannis is also dead then that is the sadest build up of a character ever

Stannis is a mixed bag. I don't feel sorry for him, he loses every battle, burned his daughter alive and killed his brother. Yet the character has always taken the hardest decisions, and I don't want him to die like that without achieving anything. That said, I don't see what purpose does have anymore.

I mean, even if Jon Snow, the actor leaves the show I'll be disappointed. Returning in the form of his wolf?! That's a stupid idea by Martin.

Stannis was not stannis from the start thanks to Melisandre. He lost his daughter, his wife, his whole army and his life all because of following Melisandre. He totally deserved what happened to him even though I wanted him to take Winterfell and defeat the boltons.

I personally have very high beliefs that Jon will return as a Targaryen Azor Ahai or atleast a Targaryen while he is either being resurrected by one of the Red priest(ess) or engulfed into flames and come out as Unburnt just like Dany.

Anyways, Stannis had it coming.

What do we make of the 3 prophecies Melisandre gives to Stannis in 2x10? If they are for Azor Ahai, Melisandre things they apply to Stannis, but what if they in fact apply to Jon Snow, because he is the real Azor Ahai?

"You will betray the men serving you."

• Applied to Stannis: Burn his men? (But Melisandre would not classify this as betrayal, but righteous punishment)
• Applied to Jon Snow: Betrays the men of the Night's Watch .

"You will betray your family."

• Applied to Stannis: Will betray Shireen?
• Applied to Jon Snow: Will betray either Starks (Sansa/Arya/Bran/etc) or Targaryens (Dany) (or Night's Watch again, if it counts as family)

"You will betray everything you once held dear"

• Applied to Stannis: ???
• Applied to Jon Snow: ???

Assuming this is the Ice part, we also get a nice symmetry with the fire part:

• Jon will do 3 betrayals against others.
• Dany will know 3 betrayals against herself.

And to spin it further, what if the last betrayal of both, is the same betrayal. Where Jon betrays everything he holds dear for love.

• Option A) Jon kills Dany (everything he once held dear) for love (of Westeros). Because he sees she went mad.
• Option B) Jon marries for love (Dany) and betrays Westeros (everything he once held dear). Because he says "Fuck Westeros, I want to be with Dany"

Not like this. Everything he did, every single thing can be justified up till the 9th episode where they fucked up his character and story arc and had him burn his daughter he moved heavens and hells to save from a disease. Lazy ass writing. Never thought I would say this about a show like Game of Thrones. They ruined the whole character.
It got even worse in the finale where just because some thousand men deserted him, the all powerful Lord of Light decided to not help him at all. Who cares about the army when Lord of Light is all powerful and can make anything happen with King's Blood just like he did with Renly. They ignored 4 seasons of buildup like it was nothing and it was like they just wanted to kill the character because they didn't know what to do with the rightful heir of iron fucking throne anymore. Way to go assholes

^True. When I say he deserved to die, I mainly say it after the events of 9th Episode. By that time, writers have already fucked up his story. They purposefully gave us those father-daughter bonding scenes just so we would hate Stannis all the more when he burns her and be happy when he dies.

Yes it is different in the books.
In books his fate is ambiguous, Jon just receives word from winterfell that the king is dead,but nobody really believed it, it felt like a poorly thought out trick by Ramsey Bolton.
But what really changed was his character, in the books he is a Stern, cold and firm man, however he is shown to have high morals (somewhat debatable) he is probably the only one who is trying to become the king without any kind of ulterior motive or desiring power just for the sake of having power.
He is quite likable once you get over his stubbornness and his grouchy moods and his occasional fits of "I deserve to be the king"
In the show however, he is quite changed from that, bloodthirsty and not caring for his men, burning his daughter, just resigning to his fate and not really fighting back.
Although I did feel happy when he was defeated, fuck him for being high and mighty and fuck him for burning shireen
