i think Galaxy has brought up some very though competetion for IMX,
since there previous z77 oc formula was sold for 26k and they introduced Haswell MAXIMUS for 26.5k, ALAA

Asus Maximus VI Hero retails for USD 210 at Newegg. AsRock Z87 Extreme6 & AsRock Z87 Extreme6/ac retail at 190 & 200 respectively. Since Hero (USD 210) is available for 26.5k, dare I expect Z87 Extreme6/ac (USD 200) to be available for 25k? That would be very nice.

Maximus VI Hero is a mid range ROG motherboard, OC Formula is a high-end stuff. They're uncomparable.

No i am not, i just bought things worth 12k from IMX 3 days back. i commented that being a neutral party brother :) i am not against i still have same terms with Yasir Nazir as i used to have before that incident

yes it is but people over here are more inclined towards brand name rather then the price/performance :(

obviously one cant compare Asus with Asrock, and i dont want to get in debate comparing both products

honestly speaking.. for me bang for buck was

Asrock extreme 6 which was a fantastic motherboard, their oc capability was quite same to Oc formula.

I am glad that somebody noticed this and pointed out.

Branding sells; oye "ROG" "ROG" hai and similar BS.

I mean, come on, focus on the product and not just brand.

Compare the products; not brands. Simple.

Asrock extreme 6 which was a fantastic motherboard, their oc capability was quite same to Oc formula.
OC Formula series is relatively superior to eXtreme 6 series in OC department. With OC Formula, you can push boundaries and also get lot of OC options that many motherboards do not offer.

I'm guessing both of you are unaware of what's being discussed in question. The Maximus VI Hero uses the same VRM zone components, having the same OC potential as the $400 Maximus VI Extreme and you think it's 'uncomparable' to the OC Formula.

What you get more in the OC Formula?
Well, more PCIe lanes for adding more GPU's, more USB 3.0 and SATA3 ports. But again, these are features you pay premium for and not every other person has the use for installing 6+ SSD/HDD's or using 3/4-way Quad SLi.

With Maximus VI Hero, you get pretty much all the essentials that a motherboard should have, not compromising on components but features and keeping the ROG Label at a fairly decent price.

The little superiority can only be seen under Extreme cooling, Liquid Helium, LN2, etc. But for your average WC'ing or air cooling user, it wouldn't matter.

The great one is back. :D

In case of motherboards, performance segment is comparable to high-end segment in many aspects. This is why it is often difficult to differentiate these products by just looking at their specs; a user is in better position to explain the potential advantages of a high-end segment product.

OC Formula series offers OC based optimizations for every kind of hardware combination; even (non) K processor series. It also offers optimization for LN2/Liquid Helium based options. You just select an option, motherboard does the rest; no hard work required on your part. Though the user can choose to consider customized/self-knowledge OC route. In addition, their is often difference in quality and quantity of components involved in making of high-end segment products; this significantly reflects on the price factor.

@Ali Man

actually i am familiar with the fact u told about the Maximus vi hero about its Vrm zone components. this was the only reason why i compared both of the motherboards but Baghi sahab is always ready to have arguements :) anyways

so my point do validate when i was saying that this Rog motherboard will going to give some hard time to upcoming lineup of asrock motherboard, there are few people who are using tri/quad sli, regarding OC and performance wise these motherboard will perform same unless a person utilizing those extra pci slot and sata slots!

plus Red and black theme Rocksssssss :D

The Extreme series shouldn't be more than 22K, the OC Formula would be above 30K, I don't even see any competition at all.

Well, I dont wana get into the argument but Maximus VI Hero might have same VRM as Extreme (which is highly unlikely) but still its not what ROG is known for. I've been talking with motherboard reviewers from TPU, AnandTech and Hardware Secrets. What I've gathered is that even their reviews aren't 100% honest. According to what i've seen or heard so far, MSI seems to be winning this round.

But.. But astron is even worse than shing... Making any msi purchase here a high risk venture and expensive too...

This ^. OC Formula also has E-ATX form factor compared to M6H which has standard ATX. This tells that OC Formula gives more bang for less bucks.

Yes, I love to correct misinformed peoples, Zain sahab.

Brand favoritism aside, like I said, OC Formula is a high-end stuff but at a cheap price, that does not mean its any less than the ROG motherboards. OC Formula is comparable (if at all) to Maximus Formula or Sabertooth lineup from ASUS.

@AFQ, spot on! Big Bang Z87 motherboards look fantastic.
