Guys! I wanted to know if Fiberlink is worth getting. I am quite honestly sick of PTCL like many others. Some questions I have are:-
1. Is there a severe packet loss issue during peak hours?
2. Is the connection stable during peak hours or does it disconnect and re-sync often?
3. How are the pings like? I usually play AFTER peak hours. Currently playing DotA 2 and Final Fantasy XIV
Finally, can someone kindly ping this IP for me and post the result?
"195.82.50.47"
Be a darling and run a tracert of it as well? Pwetty please? <3
Thank you guys!
PS: Btw, does anyone know what exactly is WRONG with pings in Europe? Any news at all someone might have?
1. For over 3-4 years they've had packet loss issues on and off. For the last 1 month it has been a lot better, but there are a few hours every day where you might spike/disconnect, but nothing as bad. It could be a lucky month, but they did perform an upgrade recently so it could also be lasting.
2. During peak hours (usually late night - almost half a day on busy weekends), there is a good chance to get disconnected. Sometimes regardless of hours you might get dc-ed, but the frequency is reduced greatly (3-4 times a day at the most, unless it's an unlucky day, then a few more times).
The worst is when you get dc-ed and the modem doesn't resync; you have to manually restart it and sadly when I'm at work and this happens, everyone at my residence lives without interwebs.
3. As of late, pings keep on spiking A HELL LOAD, regardless of destination. For e.g, on EU (France), pings go from 150 ms to 200-250ms. every few seconds. It gets timing off in some low-ping-based games and gets annoying.
I'll do a tracert of you in the evening when I get home but for the most part, I've been using PTCL for streaming and gaming lately because for some reason after 4 years it's gotten rock solid.
