Guys! I wanted to know if Fiberlink is worth getting. I am quite honestly sick of PTCL like many others. Some questions I have are:-

1. Is there a severe packet loss issue during peak hours?
2. Is the connection stable during peak hours or does it disconnect and re-sync often?
3. How are the pings like? I usually play AFTER peak hours. Currently playing DotA 2 and Final Fantasy XIV

Finally, can someone kindly ping this IP for me and post the result?
"195.82.50.47"
Be a darling and run a tracert of it as well? Pwetty please? <3

Thank you guys!

PS: Btw, does anyone know what exactly is WRONG with pings in Europe? Any news at all someone might have?

1. For over 3-4 years they've had packet loss issues on and off. For the last 1 month it has been a lot better, but there are a few hours every day where you might spike/disconnect, but nothing as bad. It could be a lucky month, but they did perform an upgrade recently so it could also be lasting.

2. During peak hours (usually late night - almost half a day on busy weekends), there is a good chance to get disconnected. Sometimes regardless of hours you might get dc-ed, but the frequency is reduced greatly (3-4 times a day at the most, unless it's an unlucky day, then a few more times).
The worst is when you get dc-ed and the modem doesn't resync; you have to manually restart it and sadly when I'm at work and this happens, everyone at my residence lives without interwebs.

3. As of late, pings keep on spiking A HELL LOAD, regardless of destination. For e.g, on EU (France), pings go from 150 ms to 200-250ms. every few seconds. It gets timing off in some low-ping-based games and gets annoying.

I'll do a tracert of you in the evening when I get home but for the most part, I've been using PTCL for streaming and gaming lately because for some reason after 4 years it's gotten rock solid.

1. I've never had any packet loss even during peak load times. Only high pings and congestion, although the congestion problem is much better now. Pings still increase by around 40-50ms at peak hours.
2. The peak load times have nothing to do with disconnections. When it disconnects, it disconnects even at minimal-load times. It used to disconnect (and resync) 1-3 times a day in the previous months but it's much much better now. I've had 99% uptime this billing month.
3. Ping:

Tracert:

Pings are fine right now:

Even at peak load times, not all places give high pings. There are 30-40% places giving normal pings. So I just set up an L2TP VPN (Torguard VPN) on my old DD-WRT Flashed WR-740N router using a server which is giving 150-160ms ping. That way my ping to all of EU comes down to around 160-180ms instead of 220ms without the VPN.

You can either get StormFiber or Fiberlink. Both rely on Transworld so they are same, ping-wise. Both get high pings during peak-load times (2-5PM) and 9-12AM (around 40ms higher pings on some servers, while some servers are unaffected).

To be honest, these last few weeks have been really good, much better than PTCL (which goes as high as 300ms to EU at night) so I'm satisfied and am glad that I switched to Fiberlink. You can come to a better decision by going through the last 1-3 pages and the first post to get a better idea of what to expect.

Thanks for the reply.. I usually play on Dubai server as all my friends are from khi or isb. They all get these low 50-70 pings on dubai while i get 300+ on ptcl which is unplayable for me.. One more question tho what are their installation period now? I read it on this forum they take 3 months to install setup? I'm willing to get fiberlink if its a reliable than ptcl.

It's still the same (if not worse), 1-3 months. It's more of a pay-and-forget type of thing ;)

Jail road ya jail ehehehe. And don't forget the daily 3-5x random dcs and compulsory morning router reboot cuz nets is stuck D:
There is Jail somehere around here iirc ;^)
The random DCs are down to 0-2 these days and that too when I'm asleep with a duration of around 20 seconds. I remember when I used to get disconnected in-game for 3-4 minutes resulting in a 15 minute ban ;p And I've never had to restart my router. EVER . Are you sure it's not a router issue or something?

True dat. I'm also using PTCL and its rarely gets DC even though in my area there is massive electricity load-shedding problem but still when electricity does come PTCL works flawless. I even get full 4 Mbit/s speed. PTCL improved a lot over the years. PTCL just have to lower the charges of their package. If PTCL gives 50 Mbit in 4000 PKR then it will be game over for other providers!!!

They have different packages for Karachi and Lahore. Those packages are posted in the first post of this thread. The ones posted on their FB are incorrect. You should still call and confirm first.

Definitely. If PTCL gives me stable 150-160ms to EU then I'm all for it. PS, I don't think they'll reduce rates. Most of the new ISPs have a very small coverage area so PTCL isn't threatened.

3G and 4G providers also have limited coverage but even then PTCL got threatened in the past and lowered their charges. Keep in mind that their 8 Mbit package which is currently at 3000 PKR, almost a year ago it was at 7000 PKR, so no one can say anything abt the future, that what it holds.

We can only hope for the best. The lower the rates, the better for us! (but the customer services might become even worse if they reduce rates ;^) )

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
