played for a bit on the ps4. Poop game in my opinion. The main character moves like a box, literally. Jump with triangle? Why?
Spoiler: show

After meeting the first settlers, I was tasked to go kill some dudes. I had absolutely no idea where to go. There is no flow in the game. Here's a pointer, travel through nonsense rocks to a new area. Off you go. Wow. Terrible level design.

After killing the first deathclaw, that black dude took FOREVER to reach the next area. Like 20 minutes of my life wasted.

Gonna sell this pretty soon

OK played for a bit.

The shooting in this is so much better than FO3, It's not good by FPS standards but now it's at least acceptable to play this game as a shooter tho I still find myself using VATS during some encounters.

Anyways, did some wandering, did some fighting and dungeon clearing. Despite improvements it's definitely the same old fallout experience, only incremental improvements and changes to the basic formula. The most fun I've had in the game so far is clearing out tyres and other garbage from sanctuary one by one while I completely ignore the main story line where I'm trying to find my infant son or something
nearly 250 hours into the game and I haven't even begun to look for my son

Settlements are awesome fun.

Sanctuary has A LOT to scrap and fun to build.

Keep talking to Preston Garvey and he'll keep sending you to settlements to help and establish.

You can establish all but 4 three settlements without even doing the main story line mission.

Don't start any quests inside Diamond city. Save them for later.

ooooook

Finished the game finally.

Took only 2 months

Sided with the Minutemen.

Now starting from the fork point to side with other factions.

All in all, game was an absolute treat.

Settlement system was a refreshing new deal and while it started a whole new debate within the community, it should be a staple hopefully in the next fallout game.

THE GOOD

Exploration was fun, not bland like New Vegas that trapped you into quests

Weather changes mattered

Ghouls are fucking creepy and scary, specially when they jump you in foggy nights outta nowhere.

Visually mesmerizing

Good replay value

Old weapons, new looks and mods, pretty cool

Memorable characters

Settlements are a brilliant new addition.

Clearing a settlement and building it as you like it was almost therapeutic

Had fun building each settlement then managing it

Legendary weapons are a hilarious necessity, and if you land a "never-ending" gun, the fun never stops.

Sniping is way better than any of the previous games

MODS made the game so damn beautiful and added so much more to it.

Running 32 mods right now

THE BAD

Dialogue options :fp2: Wtf Bethesda. Had to immediately install a mod for that.

Spoiler: show

Preston Abuses will lead to ban Garvey is the most useless asshole. I'm supposedly the "General" and he just sits around on his ass and tells me another settlement needs our help. Chill the F out dude.

Certain characters should have had stronger presence in the game. In fact, game should have been centered around them. Not family shit again like Fallout 3

Audio - Personally if you built a settlement good enough, it would be so loud and annoying, thanks for the "quieter settlements" mod, it wasn't an issue.

Un-snappable construction objects in workshop. WTF, what is even the point of this useless crap.

All in all great game, playing again, this time with console TGM cheats for excessive funnies and unlimited supplies for everything.

I haven't even touched this game in months. A complete waste of money in my opinion. Bland characters, meh shooting mechanics, same old shit. It felt like Fallout 3.5 to me. New Vegas in that matter, was a lot better. It was built by EX-Interplay folks afterall (Obsidian has ex-interplay folks, who recently released pillars of eternity, way more awesome than this pile of dung).

What a complete let down (n), just my opinion ofcourse

Its been a few days that i have finished it. Took me like 2 months, maybe more.

I feel that I am becoming RPG-phobic slowly, solely because of two reasons:
  1. The sheer amount of dedication these games require, that if you don't play such games for a few days, you'll completely forget about some crucial elements of the game, or at least about your progress.
  2. LOTS of choices. I hate choices. I hate having to play a game multiple times just to see a different ending (YouTube to the rescue).

What's the formula to properly enjoy RPG Games?
Wait for first few hours. Build your character, upgrade him/her. And THEN the real fun begins.

However ....

Fallout 3 was so much fun. I still remember it vividly. But I never got myself to play Fallout: New Vegas. It felt boring, that i quickly felt a detachment from it. It might be a better 'RPG' game, but it feels boring. Heck after finishing Fallout 4, i again tried to play New Vegas, and to this very day, i am unable to feel that 'connection' with the game. So i left it as it is.

So, here goes my impressions about Fallout 4.

THE OH-SO-AWESOME THINGS
- Talking sole survivor. Trust me. Very very convenient, and with lively feeling.
- "Silver Shroud" episodes. LOTS of laughs and fun. :tv: Great feeling delivered only via sound. Impressive i tell ya.
- Wasteland. Oh My Gawd. Its so dense. Might not be 'the' biggest, but its certainly the 'deepest' with its secrets, and stuff.
- S.P.E.C.I.A.L Intro = Funny.
- Optimus Prime -_- 'nuff said.
- Better interaction with your companions. Nice story for every character. (Cute Piper and Curie, Very cute)
- There is just SO MUCH to do. Almost endless exploration. I don't think you can find each and everything this game has to offer.
started using cheats once i was 20 hours in the game, and it became so much fun (don't hate me for it plz).
- Absolute Favorite Weapons: Additional projectile machine gun, Laser Gatling, Gauss Rifle, Cryolater, Explosive Guns.
- FATMAN. OH I LOVVEDDDDD ITTTT :2cool:
- The sarcasm. I don't like being a jerk, but in that particular case, I LOVED IT. Help yourself to some YouTube videos.
- Sole Survivor is a Hoe ... If you know what i mean.
- Beautiful soundtrack. The goove is huge with this one.
- Console cheats. Yea you know how its awesome. -_-

THE GOOD ENOUGH
- The story. I sided with The Institute.
- Settlements building was fun. Strangely, i was giving it more time than i should have.
- Stupendous amount of weapons.
- Weapons Mods are fun. But expensive.
- Better V.A.T.S.
- Less reliance on V.A.T.S. Unlike previous games, the game is a lot more 'FPS' now, even when not using V.A.T.S.
- Power Armor Jet Pack ... Convenient.
- Highly manageable perks screen. Looks quite nice.
- Weather. Looked cooool.
- The storage size. Between the other smaller games, 26GB felt like a miracle. Hail Bethesda for keeping the size so management, given the literally humongous nature of the game.
- Performance: Surprising, really. Dell XPS w/ GTX550M, lowest settings ~25-30fps. My GTX680 with Ultra settings. 55-65fps (variation was too much during daytime, intense lightning )

THE NOT-SO-OK
- Dialogue choice screen. Need i say more?
- Endless scrolling Pipboy. So advanced handheld computer, with no fast-scrolling system. Booo!
- Too long loading times between door-to-door travel. Made the game feel very non-coherent.
- Unavailability of an 'actual' assault rifle. Something which you'd LOVE playing with. (Only one i could love was a 'legendary additional projectile modded machine gun' ... probably the most powerful weapon throughout the whole game.
- Can get boring. Too much walking and running errands. Some Quests can get pretty useless and annoying.

THE FUCKIN'-PIECE-OF-SHIT STUFF
- Hand to Hand Combat, Totally doesn't work.
- Why do i have to 'help defend a settlement', when it has a 100+ defense system? Doesn't make any sense.
- Moron Preston. Use a radio to inform me "ALL" about settlements you POS! Why do i have to (fast) travel all the way to your sorry ass?
- The bugs. Even with a fully updated game, a lot of missions won't progress/complete. Console commands rescued me.
- Non availability of real stealth. I couldn't maintain stealth even with the highest rank available, with using Knives and stuff.
- Bethesda is known to give PC priority. In this particular case, its reverse. F*ck this sh*t.

CONCLUSION
Re-playability = All Day Every Day.
Soundtrack = Soothing, Lovely, Dope.
Gameplay = Fun
Fun = Maximum

So the million (not really) dollars question. Is it worth the money? Ahh ... maybe $30, or less. On a Scale of 1 to 10. Its a solid 9 from me.

[h=2]Fallout 4's latest patch fixes numerous issues with quests and perks[/h][h=3]It's like a stimpak for the game[/h]

Fallout 4 developer Bethesda Game Studios is releasing a new patch for the game this week, an update that includes fixes for bugs of all kinds — both annoying and beneficial ones, the company announced today.
The patch, which brings Fallout 4 to version 1.3, is now available for the Windows PC version of the game and will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this week.

Update 1.3 delivers a few PC-only features, such as a new ambient occlusion setting known as HBAO+, but the bulk of the patch consists of bug fixes. If you've been bringing MacCready to firefights just because of his game-breakingly good Killshot perk, well, you'll have to find a better justification for keeping him around — he'll no longer provide a guaranteed 95 percent chance of nailing headshots. Companions also won't get stuck in a down state, or in a state of perpetual radiation poisoning, anymore.
An entire section of the patch notes for update 1.3 is dedicated to quest fixes, some of which solve issues that had prevented players from being able to complete quests. Such quests include "Underground Undercover," "Human Error" and "Tactical Thinking." Other fixes involve companions, like Preston Garvey and Dogmeat. The final section of the patch notes addresses the workshop, which now allows players to see provided power and build workbenches in their Diamond City house.
Check out Bethesda.net for the full patch notes. You can read our Fallout 4 review for more on the game.

[h=2]Fallout 4's survival mode to get 'complete overhaul'[/h][h=3]And DLC is on its way[/h]

Fallout 4's survival mode will receive a series of major changes, Bethesda Game Studios announced. The developer teased several of these additions in a tweet.
We’re also doing a complete overhaul of Fallout 4 Survival mode. Food, sleep, diseases, danger and more. Stay tuned.
— BethesdaGameStudios (@BethesdaStudios) February 11, 2016

Survival mode is the game's most difficult setting, increasing enemies' health and making the player character more susceptible to damage. In the previous Fallout game, however — Fallout: New Vegas — additional features, like permadeath and the inability to heal while sleeping, were included. Fallout 4's hardest difficulty neglected to include those handicaps.
The company also confirmed on Twitter that it's still at work on Fallout 4's downloadable content. More information as to what the game's DLC will entail is coming soon, Bethesda tweeted.
A season pass was announced for Fallout 4 ahead of its November launch, but few details have emerged since, including a release date. The developer did confirm a price for the expansion, however: Whenever it does arrive, it will cost players $30.
Bethesda also confirmed back in September that new features would be added to the game at no cost to Fallout 4 owners alongside paid DLC. That includes a Creation Kit for the game's PC version, which allows players to develop their own mods. That's set to launch sometime this year, but there's no release scheduled for it yet, either.

For a look at what Fallout 4 currently offers, check out our overview below.

[h=2]Fallout 4 getting three add-ons this spring and more later, season pass price going up[/h][h=3]The first DLC packs of many, apparently[/h]

Fallout 4 publisher Bethesda Softworks announced the first details of its downloadable content schedule for the game today, saying that it has plans for "more than $60 worth" of add-ons coming in 2016 — and therefore, an increase in the price of the DLC season pass.
Bethesda originally announced the Fallout 4 season pass in September at $29.99. At the time, the company said that the season pass "get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30," and added, "We know that [the DLC] will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass."

That will no longer be the case as of March 1, when, "given the expanded DLC plan," Bethesda will raise the price of the Fallout 4 season pass from $29.99 to $49.99 in North America (and from £24.99 to £39.99 in the U.K.). Bethesda noted that anyone who already purchased the season pass, or who buys it before March 1, will get all of Fallout 4's paid add-ons for the original $29.99 price.
Of course, Fallout 4 players will be able to purchase add-ons individually if they don't want to commit to the season pass. The game's first piece of paid DLC is Automatron, which is set for release in March for $9.99 in North America and £7.99 in the U.K. Automatron is a mod-focused expansion that will let you harvest parts from evil robots, including the Robobrain, to build custom robot companions.
Next up is "Wasteland Workshop," which introduces the ability to design cages for capturing enemies "from raiders to Deathclaws." You'll be able to "tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers." The add-on will also offer new design options for settlements. "Wasteland Workshop" is coming in April for $4.99 in North America and £3.99 in the U.K.
The third Fallout 4 add-on Bethesda announced today is Far Harbor (screenshot above), which is a full story expansion and is priced to match at $24.99 in North America and £19.99 in the U.K. Here's the full description from Bethesda:

A new case from Valentine's Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we've ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours.
Bethesda also announced today that it will be running closed betas for each DLC pack on all platforms. Interested parties can sign up on Bethesda's website right now. Players who are accepted into an add-on's beta program will receive the DLC for free; the beta is "the full version (complete with achievements)," according to Bethesda.
Aside from the aforementioned DLC schedule, Fallout 4 developer Bethesda Game Studios is working on two additional features: the Creation Kit, which will introduce the ability to create and play Fallout 4 game mods, and the free overhaul of Survival Mode that the company announced last week. The studio also noted that it will continue to deliver free updates like patch 1.2 and patch 1.2.

[h=2]Fallout 4's new update gears up for DLC[/h][h=3]Brings fixes and customization options with it[/h]

Bethesda Games Studio released a new patch for Fallout 4 on Steam today, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players getting access at a later date.
Update 1.4's primary addition won't come into effect until next month, however: It adds support for add-ons, the first of which will launch in March.

Other features of the patch, which is currently in beta for Steam users, include added art customization options for the Workshop. Settlements now have the option for increased types of clutter as well as other decorations.
The patch notes also detail a slew of smaller fixes. Problems with quests like "Getting a Clue" and "Rocket's Red Glare" have been corrected, as have ones with quicksaves, the Pip-Boy and the options menu.
Update 1.3 launched for Fallout 4 on PC and consoles earlier this month. Its season pass is currently on sale for $29.99, and the price will jump to $49.99 starting March 1. The first DLC pack, Automatron, launches later in March.

Fallout 4's Creation Kit planned for PC around April, consoles a month later

Xbox One should get it in May, and then PS4 a month after that, says Todd Howard

Stay Connected. Follow Polygon Now!
×
The Fallout 4 mod support that Bethesda Game Studios has promised for consoles as well as PC should arrive sometime this spring, director Todd Howard told Game Informer.
Mods, of course, already exist for the PC edition; what Howard is referencing here is the Creation Kit, the free toolset based on the same utilities Bethesda used to make the games. The kit facilitates the sharing of the mods. That's how they'll be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of the game.

Howard said Bethesda is aiming to release the Creation Kit for PC between the first two DLC add-ons, which are coming in March and April. The Xbox One will get the Kit a month or so later, Howard said, and then the PlayStation 4 will get it a month after that. So this figures to be an April-May-June rollout.
Already a heavily customizable game, what with the features available for crafting and building settlements, Fallout 4 has already seen plenty of unofficial modding on PC, ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Details on Fallout 4's new Survival Mode leak

Bethesda confirms they're legit, but a work-in-progress

Early details on Fallout 4's overhauled Survival Mode have leaked a little early, thanks to new information reportedly extracted from the post-apocalyptic role-playing game's latest update. Those details, later confirmed by Bethesda Game Studios as legitimate, offer some insight into the hardcore mode's upcoming changes.
The "more brutal take" on Fallout 4 "upends many of the rules of life in the Commonwealth for maximum challenge," according to a post published on the game's subreddit today. For starters, the new Survival Mode difficulty disables quick saves and fast travel; requires players to monitor their hydration, hunger and fatigue; and will force players to be more considerate about how much stuff they're carrying.

But things may change between now and when Bethesda rolls out Survival Mode. "We're still messing [with] it," Bethesda said on Twitter. "More to come!"
For now, here's an early look at how Fallout 4 is getting tougher.
Saving
Manual and quicksaving are disabled. To save your game, you'll need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour.
Combat
Combat is more lethal for everyone. You now deal, but also take, more damage. You can increase the damage you deal even further with "Adrenaline" (see below).
Fast Travel
Fast Travel is disabled. If you wish to be somewhere, you'll have to physically travel there.
Weighted Ammo
Bullets and shells now all have a small amount of weight, which varies by caliber. Heavier items such as fusion cores, rockets, and mini-nukes can really drag you down.
Compass
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled, as enemies will no longer appear on your compass. As well, the distance at which locations of interest will appear has been significantly shortened.
Adrenaline
Survival automatically grants the Adrenaline perk, which provides a bonus to your damage output. Unlike other perks, the only way to increase your rank of the Adrenaline perk is by getting kills (hostile or otherwise). The higher your Adrenaline rank, the higher the damage bonus. Sleeping for more than an hour, however, will cause your Adrenaline rank to lower. You can check your current Adrenaline rank at any time in the Perks section on the Stat tab in your Pip-Boy.
Wellness
You'll find it difficult to survive without taking proper care of yourself. You must stay hydrated, fed, and rested to remain combat-ready. Going for extended periods of time without food, water, or sleep will begin to adversely affect your health, hurting your SPECIAL stats, adding to your Fatigue (see "Fatigue" below), lowering your immunity (see "Sickness" below), and eventually even dealing physical damage to you.
Fatigue
Fatigue works like radiation but affects your Action Points (AP) rather than your Hit Points (HP). The more Fatigue you've built up, the less AP you'll have for other actions. The amount of Fatigue you've accumulated is displayed in red on your AP bar.
Sickness
A comprised immune system and a few questionable decisions can end up getting you killed. Eating uncooked meat, drinking unpurified water, taking damage from disease-ridden sources, such as ghouls and bugs, or using harmful Chems all put your body at increased risk for various ill effects. When you are afflicted with an illness, a message will appear onscreen. You can view specifics about your current illnesses by navigating to the Status section on your Pip-Boy's Data tab and pressing [RShoulder] to view your active effects.
Antibiotics
Antibiotics, which can be crafted at Chem Stations or purchased from doctors, heal the various effects of sickness.
Bed Types
The type of bed you're sleeping in determines the length of time you are able to stay asleep. A sleeping bag will save your game and may help save your life when you're desperate, but it will never allow for a full night's rest and the benefits that come with it.
Crippled Limbs
Crippled limbs will no longer auto-heal after combat and will remain crippled until healed by a Stimpak.
Carry Weight
Exceeding your carry weight reduces your Endurance and Agility stats and periodically damages your legs and health. Think of your back!
Companions
Companions will no longer automatically get back up if downed during combat and will return home if abandoned without being healed.
Enemy and Loot Repopulation
Locations you've cleared will now repopulate enemies and loot at a significantly slower rate.

Had I been talking about this game when it just came out, it'd be all praises. They fixed alot of the gripes people had with previous games.

Now however, its mediocre. Partly due to the fact that Im playing Witcher 3 and just realize how good a game can be in this day and age. AND largely the fact that I got back to New Vegas for a bit and just realize how stupidly restrictive this game is.

You play a character, you are not THE character. For an RPG, you cannot be a character, you are the character you make. The games RPG and story telling elements are somewhat what Mass Effect was, but even more dumbed down so you can never be the bad guy.

New Vegas lets you be truly what you want to be.. Open world. Open choices. Complete asshole mode. Complete saint. Mr. Capitalism or Mr. Socialism. Calm as a Buddhist or making Genghis Khan proud. New Vegas was true to Fallout. I played the earlier rts turn based games a bit back then, and it had crazy open choices to what I remember. As for Fallout 4... you are the goody nice guy looking for someone and you help people but can be a bit of arse with just sarcasm, albeit entertaining like hell. But still, it wont let me beat the crap out of someone, collect a debt and be a true dick. During the start of the game, when you follow the pretty much predicted path all felt good .... But once I realized in the later part of the game that I cant really be an ***hole and lets say ... take over the Institute and enslave the Wasteland ... the charm died.

And the dialogue, just sad. The options you had in New Vegas, the conversations specially once you level up and get extra options. Truly replayable. Fallout 4 ... meh, apart from ending up destroying one or the other ... its the same. I'm still everyones savior. No. I want to be evil. Let me be evil. But thats just it, I cant. One real playthrough is all I get, at max trying the major options on who to side with as an extra.

[h=2]Fallout 4's next update makes the game way harder on consoles[/h][h=3]An update before the next DLC pack — and mod support — hits[/h]

Bethesda is updating the console versions of Fallout 4 in the coming weeks, bringing the overhauled Survival difficulty to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the studio announced.
That's the biggest feature coming with version 1.5 of the 2015 game. Survival Mode aside, the update will also come with bug fixes, many relating to the recent Automatron and "Wasteland Workshop" expansion packs. Players on PS4 will also have the ability to delete add-on content from within Fallout 4.

The revamped Survival Mode is currently in beta on Steam, giving Fallout 4 players on Windows PC extra time to test out its new challenges. These include new perks, increased limitations on saving and the amount players can carry, and heightened susceptibility to fatigue and illness. Thanks to these and other additions, Survival Mode serves as the highest level of difficulty Fallout 4 has to offer.
Official mods aren't currently supported by the beta, but Bethesda said that it plans to include them on the PC version "soon;" consoles will receive mod support in future updates. The mod Creation Kit, allowing players to create and share their own mods within the game, is currently in closed beta on Steam.
The next major addition to Fallout 4 is Far Harbor, the third expansion pack that's coming to the game on PC and consoles later this year. Version 1.5 will also add support and optimizations in anticipation of the downloadable content. Far Harbor follows this month's "Wasteland Workshop" and March's Automatron DLC; check out our overview of the latter pack below.

[h=2]Fallout 4 was briefly free on Xbox One in apparent pricing error[/h][h=3]Best deal ever or massive price error?[/h]

The Xbox One version of Fallout 4 and all of its downloadable content are currently free on the Xbox Store in what is either a massive price screw up or one of the best deals going for Xbox One owners.
Fallout 4, its digital deluxe bundle and the game's season pass all currently ring up for $0.00. The deal — or, possibly, the reason HR will list for someone's termination from Microsoft — was spotted by NeoGAF user Kindekuma. We've tested the download ourselves and were able to purchase the game and its season pass for free — though the Xbox website appears to be throwing some errors when loading certain products.

It's unclear whether this is an aggressive promotion from Xbox and Bethesda or if there will soon be an open position in Microsoft's digital retail division, but we've inquired with the company for details.
Update: Fallout 4 and its add-ons are now listed as "Not Available," and no longer available to download for free.
Update 2: Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb offered the following statement: "An unintended discount caused some excitement today. While we loved the enthusiasm it generated, prices for Fallout 4 games have been restored."

I have heard that it is now unplayable in countries which do not support handful of third world countries not recognized by Sony like Pakistan. Steam is a true global platform. Then they cry that console gaming is dying.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
