For moms and dads there can't be anything better than Sense UI since it's more user friendly UI..

Visit Xda forums and flash some custom roms... That's the only way to improve speeds...

HTC Sense 3.5a ... the stripped down version as on the HTC Explorer (and probably others to folllow unofficialy)

Your thoughts folks ? I like the interface and it runs smooth too being with less bells and whistles (atleast on the Explorer, which isnt much of a powerful device anyway)

^^^I bought the wildfire S for my dad ONLY because it had a decent camera and Led flash light than Explorer

... If these two things were present on Explorer, I would have certainly bought it..

It's GPU is just decent enough for 2D games and some low end 3D...

Though wildfire S has sense 2.1 but it wasn't as smooth as Explorer with Sense 3.5

If you are not s fan of camera on phones then it's a very good purchase but keep in mind that you should know if it's Bootloader is unlockable as the small internal memory may become a problem of you are installing >30 applications...

You have used X8 and might know what i mean...

It has move to sd card option but not all applications can be moved...

I do like how the Wildfire S looks, but performance and Launcher/OS is the most imp thing for me ... camera aint an issue.

I did a quick google ... bootloader IS unlockable, HTC itself is letting you do that on all 2011+ models, hence its also rootable so no memory issues. Not that I see ICS working on this anytime soon ... but still ... always good to know you got the option eh ?

I saw the GPU benchmarks, it performs much faster than the WildFire S. Infact, the overall performance was quite higher since even though both are clocked the same, Explorer has an ARMv7 (and surprisingly enough, its cheaper). And overclocking should make it better. Also .. good batt life ... 1230 or 1350mAH IIRC.

Im going to go and see if I can find a used set in market to try it out better.

Explorer is even better than the Gio because of its Ram, the ram plays a bigger part in speed than the processor. its an overall best phone for its price i believe.

But keep in mind, Developers support of Wildfire S is better and may get ported ICS roms earlier...,i saw overclocking things on wildfire S in xda forums...

performance wise there won't be any noticeable difference other than smoothness of sense 3.5 on explorer... Games and appLications will run with same performance on both sets...

Will Someone be kind enough to post GPRS and MMS settings of all networks here?

If someone does it, please add to second or third post of this thread so that we don't loose it...

So far i know ufone GPRS settings it's simple

No need to put in username or password poor any other settings..

I doubt it. Even though both have he same GPU ... Explorer has far better scores. Almost double if I recall a comparision video running benchmarks. Double on the 3D ... same on the 2D. It will perform better with that sort of extra oompfhh over the Wildfire S

So ... instead of getting a new HTC Explorer ... is there anything USED in that price range that has more oompfh and has a good ICS AOSP port ? (Explorer new = 15k)

Hehe... Really didn't compare the two in depth.. Just speculated from specs as they look the same... My dad is never gonna play 3D games but yeah i see him often playing Solitaire and bubble blast which are his favorites...

If you want a real PERFORMANCE set in low budget and everything great then Xperia Mini (ST15i-the latest one) is the best in the price.. It's new for 18k so there are high chances you will get it in 15k... That set has damn everything epic and is officially gonna get ICS...great camera, CPU/gpu, great sound...

You can also consider Walkman Live or Xperia Mini Pro(latest ones)... They sell around 21k for new but if you are lucky, you can find one in ~16k...

all i mentioned have Adreno 205 with 1 ghz CPU which is present in my Xperia Ray and i am simply impressed with its performance in 3D games... they run latest games so smooth...

I reviewed it a couple of days ago, it's a very good phone and is certainly recommended. It's got the looks and performance, the only problem is the shitty camera.

Ill look into these. A Mini for 18k I might as well put in the extra and buy new. But only after ICS is here. For now ... Im all for the Sense 3.5a

Unlocked bootloader of my Xperia ray using test point method... It was so technical but easy...

But I hate the flashing method on Sony sets... You have to connect to flashtool to flash kernels... Roms can be flashed from memory card... The problem is that every ROM uses a different kernel...

now i have overclocked it to 1.6ghz...

Btw.. I underclocked it to 600mhz but phone was still running snappier...
