Download Online Content via PC to PS3 :: Tutorial

Guys I have been an issue, I had LBP2 transferred (to ps3) upto 41% and then my ps+ subscription expired and I left it there. Today I resumed that download using this method, and first the download/transfer didn't resume from where it left off and restarted from 0% and secondly the speeds were dead slow as if the ps3 is downloading that game from psn.

I am guessing the download link which psn generates to the game must have changed because I resumed my download after about 2 months. And this might be the reason the transfer trick is not working? I haven't compared both links (which psn generates) so I can't say for sure, I will check those links tonite to see if they are same or have they changed.

What do you guys think, why this trick is not working for me? It worked fine previously.

And yes the PS3 is connecting to the Proxy server as I can see the activity in the "LOG" tab.

First, why are are you downloading LBP2 if your PS+ subscription expired? It's not going to work ya know?

And second, the problem isn't that the link has changed over the last 2 months. It's that the PSN download model has changed somewhat. It now constantly changes the download links of everything by just a few numbers but those varying numbers confuse the Proxy Server GUI. So the link that you give to the Proxy Server isn't the link that the PS3 is asking for and since the Proxy Server cannot provide the exact link. It, by default, downloads from the internet instead.

I've already added a few tricks to bypass this in the OP and it shouldn't be too complicated to get the PS3 to transfer the file from your PC instead of downloading it again.

Bhai there is no easy way for me to explain you, but that dissconnecting from internet trick works for me every single time. Even today I transfered Sleeping dogs without any problem. Trick is simple:

1. Connect your PS3 to you Proxy server
2. Pull off the Telephone line from the router(as it will disable the internet but not the connection between PC and PS3)
3. Now resume the download and you will get a weired link in your logs tab(this link will be permanant as long as you are disconnected from internet).
4. Use that link on "replace files" tab and select your downloaded PKG from your computer.
5. Resume the download on PS3 and it should start downloading from PC.

Note: The download will always start from 0% no matter how big the download size is. I hope this will clear things for you, if not then you can always PM me or @TrueCoolGuy . Thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am using the simple link swap method (which I have been using previously). Thank you for explaining me the other method, but I am asking the reason for why the downloaded PKG file isn't transferring from PC to PS3. Is it because the link might have changed?

I will try the "Default Link Method".

1. Resume download, disconnect internet.
2. Copy link (one without severIPADDr) into replace files and resume.

Successufully transferred LBP2 using the Default Link method (Internet OFF method) on a UK account over a wireless network. Took me about 2.5 hours to transfer 7gb.

So any of you guys downloading the mammoth 17gb Hitman Absoltuion? Its pretty fking big!

I will suggest you to use wires instead of wireless connection. I get 8-12MB/s speed over wired connection.

I started downloading Motorstorm today, and I just noticed that the pattern/type of link to download the game has changed.
Here is a comparison of an OLD LINK PATTERN (got this link about 2 months back for a different game) and NEW LINK PATTERN (got this one today).

I have started the download with the link and its running fine and is also mentioning the same file size as was being displayed on PSN. So anything to worry about here? Or should I continue with the link as it is?

It's nothing major. The link is mostly the same. The new edition mostly has to do with the 'serverIpAddr' part. It constantly changes it's value, making transferring through the Proxy Server GUI impossible. Unless you use one of the bypass tricks.

@TrueCoolGuy This might be a stupid question but as i have a modem and a router am confused as to connect the ethernet cables to my router or modem?

EDIT: Using a wifi i followed everything but the downlaod seems to be progressing more or less at the same rate? Its like bothing has happened

Connect them to your modem.

Did you check you did all the steps correctly when trying to do it with Wifi? Also, the transfer speed with a wifi connections is significantly slower than a wired connection.

I had a similar issue that the PS3 was not connecting to the Proxy Server, I was trying to connect my PS3 to my wireless router which was connected to the modem. It didn't work for me.

To see if the connection is active, check out the "LOGS" tab of the ProxyServer.GUI and check if you can see any links or not. No links means no active connection.

I have definitely made a connection as i was able to get a link and download.THough i downloaded the game(uncharted 3 mp free to play which didnt work)
I have two other questions
1.I downloaded Dust 514(1.34gb) but after i start the game the laucher starts to update as well but i get no links on my pc?(the connection is not broken as different addresses are shown when i start the game or sign in)

2.I didnt apply either of the two methods(given in the end,404 guides)I just followed the three steps(i didnt read them until i was done with the methods and was transferring)and i thought some kind of error or something will be given for which they needed to be applied(I still dont understand why they need to be applied)

so i was lurking pak gamers after a long time and happen to stumble on this thread. incidentally i was also trying to use ps3 proxy server but was getting error so may be pg can help me out with this
whenever i try to connect with the proxy server my ps3 acquires the ip address but is unable to establish internet connection and gives me error 80028ea6
my firewall is off and i am using a wireless router. (STC wirless router using 4g sim)

I have the sleeping dogs PKG file in my PS3. I got PS+ on another account. How do i use the same file and save myself from redownloading those 7 gigs. (I have sleeping dogs in this account too!)
