I've got a whole write-up written and trying to upload it but it keeps giving me the error that the message you've entered is too short please lengthen it. Can any mod help me out here? Thanks.

Sanded down the previous paint so that I had a smooth surface to start with.
Laid a matte black base coat.
Sanded the base coat.
Here’s a stencil that I made.
Gave it a carbon fiber texture using the stencil.
Masked out the area that I didn’t want to be painted.
First coat of red.
After several coats of red and the masking taken off.
Applied 5-6 coats of clear lacquer.
After 2 days of letting it rest so that the paint dried completely, I wetsanded a couple of layers of lacquer off.

Here’s something that went wrong. When I removed the masking before laying the clear coat, the masking tape left a little residue on the carbon fiber portion and it was too late into the paintjob to clean it off and start over so I covered that residue with clear lacquer so that I can find a solution for it later on. You’ll see uneven lines on the carbon fiber area in the pics which are due to this residue. But later I found a solution.
I buffed the painted surface using cutting crème and some elbow grease to bring the shine back. You can see the difference between the colour sanded and the buffed area.

Here’s the finished outside of the laptop. You’ll see that I’ve covered the spoiled area with a PVC sticker. And the silver sticker also complements the red/black colour combo.

Sorry I didn’t take any in-progress photos of the inside but here’s the final result.
