“Destiny features an unprecedented combination of cooperative, competitive, public, and personal activities seamlessly woven into an expansive, persistent online world,” Activision noted, before offering the following bullet points:

Key Features:
Brave New Worlds – Destiny will instantly draw players into a universe of heroes and legends, with worlds and storytelling crafted by Bungie, the creators of Halo – one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed entertainment franchises of all time.

Your Legend – In Destiny you create your own legend as you and your friends venture out into the solar system to reclaim the treasures and secrets lost after the collapse of our Golden Age. Over the course of your adventures you become more powerful, able to wield rare and exotic weapons, gear, and powers.

A Connected Universe – Destiny is more than a disc in a drive, it is a persistent online universe filled with other players. As the story grows and expands over time, so do the destinations you can access, the activities you experience, and the rewards you can earn.

A Social Experience – Destiny’s many destinations will feature areas called Public Spaces where players journeying solo or with friends will seamlessly cross paths with other players and Fireteams, some on similar missions, others engaging in completely different activities.

– Public Events – Contained within some of Destiny’s public spaces are realtime dynamic events that players and Fireteams in the area can choose to engage in. These Public Events are short skirmishes where multiple players work together to defeat their common enemies and collect awesome loot.

Classes: Destiny features three unique classes to choose from, each with their own custom looks and abilities. Players will be able to crush their enemies as a Titan, vanquish foes as a crafty Hunter, or unleash incredible arcane energies on any adversary as a Warlock.

  • Titan – The first Titans built the Wall, and gave their lives to defend it. Now, you stand in the same high place, steadfast and sure, protecting all who shelter in your shadow. You hail from a long line of heroes, forged from strength and sacrifice. Our enemies may be deadly and merciless, but so are you.
  • Hunter – Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You’re no outlaw—at least, not anymore—but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules. Your unique brand of daring and ingenuity is needed now more than ever.
  • Warlock – Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age.
Adventure Awaits – Personalize and upgrade every aspect of how you look and fight with an expansive combination of armor, weapons, and visual customizations. Take it all with you into every mode, including Destiny’s story, competitive multiplayer, and public combat destinations. Return to The City, Destiny’s third person social space to rearm and repair before going out on your next adventure.

Destiny is due on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.

Also, don't know if this is true but I saw some activity on my twitter suggesting that there was some new ViDoc shown to the public at the event. We might see that soon.

Karachi.
Art looks fantastic, especially the exterior. But from the inside, it seems just like any other co-op sci-fi shooter :(

[h=1]New Destiny Doc Dives Into Weapon Details[/h]

Bungie's Destiny is easily one of the most highly-anticipated projects in the gaming industry and, in addition to brand-new footage of the game in action, a new video documentary delivers insight into how weapons will work in the game.

The new vid doc, which is entitled "Out Here In The Wild" and nearly five minutes as seen above, shows off quite a bit of footage from the game while breaking down some previously-unknown elements of how weapons will work in Destiny.

In the "Build Your Legend" portion of the video the team at Bungie outlines how you'll change the way you look and fight by explaining that your choice of character class and character race will stick with you and condition how your character evolves throughout all of the experiences Destiny has to offer.

As for how weapons will work in the game, Senior Gameplay Designer Josh Hamrick describes how Bungie has gone to a three weapon system consisting of a primary weapon slot for things like versatile assault rifles, a special slot for more of an "in the moment" impact where one weapon is "easily the best option" for a given situation, and, lastly, the third slot which is known as the "heavy slot" that will be all about causing "unrealistically large amounts of damage over a very small window of time."

The doc goes on to talk about seamless matchmaking in Destiny and a few other interesting tidbits for those tracking the game.

So, are you interested in what the boys and girls at Bunige are cooking up in regards to Destiny? Check out the full vid doc above before letting us know in the comments below. You can find out even more over on the game's official website.

Pictured above is the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 box art for Destiny, which is also coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In addition to the box art, we've been informed that a new trailer for the game will be released tomorrow along with what was only described in an email as "another Destiny announcement". Obviously, that can pretty much mean ANYTHING, but we'll of course get you the details as soon as they become available.

Destiny Beta release date revealed, available early 2014

We seem to have a leak of sorts from Amazon that suggests that Destiny will start its Beta in early 2014. It also solidifies the earlier rumor of Destiny being given as pre-order bonus from select retailers.

The beta will be for all platforms including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. To participate in the Destiny beta, you need to pre-order the game at select retailers like Amazon. It is a “Limited Time” offer; while Beta code lasts.

Well that sucks. It probably means that the game will come out in mid 2014.
