DC Universe Online is now F2P, available from the PSN Store

DC Universe Online officially went free-to-play last week. The move seems to be a success with the title adding a million new subscribers in its first week of transitioning to the free-to-play model with revenue being generated from microtransactions.

DCUO now includes three access levels: Free, Premium and Legendary. All three levels will provide access to the game and include all game updates and fixes to the game, with each level offering differing game options and features. DLC content and features will also be included for Legendary players, and can be purchased by Free and Premium players. The features of each access level are listed below.

Free Access
New players now have access to the base game content in DC Universe Online, including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts outside of DLC packs. Free Access provides players with the ability to create two characters, join a League and many other benefits. Free level players can also purchase DLC packs, additional character slots, and more in-game.

Premium Access
Any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items) qualifies for the Premium Access level. Premium level players have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. DLC packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game. All previous subscribers are granted Premium Access automatically.

Legendary Access
Legendary Access provides the most content, features and benefits of the three access levels. Loaded with enhanced features, Legendary Access is available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee (multi-month discounts are available) and includes access to all DLC packs at no cost, more than 16 character slots, over 60 inventory slots, the ability to form Leagues, and many other benefits.

Come on guys, its free to play. Give it a try

Downloading mine right now, the PSN store download is around 122MB but the whole game is over 14GB, be sure to have 18GB Free before downloading (Due to compression)

Basically you just have to download 14GB, the download starts after you install the 122MB file and cannot be downloaded in the background but you can still just quit the game and then run it again to find your download resume from where you left off. So just keep in mind load-shedding timings and you should be good to go

[h=2]New DCUO DLC To Add New Earth Powers Set, More Action[/h]

Sony Online Entertainment recently announced that the third downloadable content pack for DC Universe Online, The Battle for Earth, is coming "soon" to the PC and PS3. The content will feature the new Earth Powers power set alongside a slew of new adventures alongside the opportunity to take on Brainiac while introducing players to a "shocking new threat" to the Universe.
“With The Battle for Earth one war will come to a head, while another begins as we introduce a new chapter to the larger DCUO story,” said Jens Andersen, DC Universe Online Creative Director, Sony Online Entertainment. “The Battle for Earth also has so much new action to jump in to including a massive Raid where you fight Brainiac’s final Avatar – the Avatar of Magic, new Duos, a new Alert and lots of new fighting to do in South Gotham.”
Check out an official description of the DLC below:
The Battle for Earth offers players a new storyline with more action, epic battles, a ninth power set, and opens up a new chapter featuring a pair of the most legendary DC Universe figures ever – from the future. DC Universe Online players can look forward to new open world content, Duos, an Alert, and two Raids:
Themyscira – Experience a new Raid on Wonder Woman’s home island that pits players against Chimeric Brainiacs and, ultimately, the deadly Avatar of Magic. Players will fight alongside mythical creatures such as Cyclops, Hydra and Colossus, while simultaneously protecting key units of Amazons and Beastimorphs.
South Gotham Brainiac Invasion – Supercharged action continues as players battle Brainiac’s invasion force in the streets of South Gotham, the Courthouse Alert and new Duos. Working to stop Brainiac’s Union – formed by the people trapped inside the bottled buildings – who are constructing Proto-Avatars to assault Gotham, players will be challenged to rise up and defend Earth against Brainiac’s final assault.
The Prime Battleground – The Battle for Earth storyline leads players in to an epic battle in which they must fight all three of Brainiac’s newly completed Prime Avatars, and then Brainiac himself. Heroes will fight for the safety of the Earth and its inhabitants, while Villains will want to defeat Brainiac and expand the influence of evil across the planet.
Earth Powers – Rumble on to the scene and shake things up with DCUO’s ninth power set. Earth Powers can be used for both Tanking and Damage and features an exciting new Tanking mechanic that defers damage to a player’s constructs and automatons. Geokinesis abilities give players the ability to shape Earthen constructs to crush enemies and reinforce allies while Seismic abilities allow players to call mighty, Earth-shaking forces to rattle and daze opponents.
So, how much will all of this cost ya? Well, that depends on how "super" your relationship with the game is. The DLC pack will be free for the game’s Legendary members and available for purchase to both Free and Premium players via PSN, through the in-game Marketplace, and on the PC via DCUniverseOnline.com. Track us on Twitter and we'll be sure to fire off an official release date once we get word.

IMO, this game wasn't worth the hype. I mean, it's alright, but nowhere near what i expected. :/. Playing it online isn't all that fun either. :/

DC Universe Online DLC Features Mark Hamill's Triumphant Return as The Joker

As another famous criminal mastermind once said, just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in.

Actor Mark Hamill announced last year on his Twitter that he would retire as the long running, iconic voice of The Joker with his performance in Batman: Arkham City. However, it seems the urge to return to such a fun, gleefully evil role was too good not to take for one more spin around the block.

Hamill stepped behind the mic again for a DLC for DC Universe Online called "The Last Laugh". He was also joined by actor Adam Baldwin as Superman and Joker's partner-in-crime Harley Quinn played by Arleen Sorkin for the new DLC pack.

If we could do the evil Joker laugh as well as Hamill, we'd be doing it with him in pure ghoulish glee over his return to the role he was born to play. I'm also counting Luke Skywalker in that equation. Yeah, I said it.

Haha I know what you mean. Voices can make or break an entire character. Imagine Nathan Drake voiced by someone other than Nolan North or Kratos by someone other than Terrence C. Carson.

[h=1]DC Universe Online To Let You Build Your Own Batcave With Home Turf DLC[/h]

Everyone, even the most curmudgeonly of humans, must admit they want a Batcave of their very own.

DC Universe Online players, though, will soon be able to build one for their hero.

The upcoming Home Turf DLC will add a player house to the game that you'll be able to customize with items from across the game, including those you'll find in the Watchtower and the Hall of Doom. Your lair will also serve as a one-on-one PvP battlefield, where you can hold private duels.

In addition, the DLC will include ten new missions on the Strkyer's Island, Ace Chemicals, Arkham Asylum, and Steelworks maps. The missions will give you Marks of Triumph, which you can use to upgrade your hideout.

Free and Premium members will need to purchase the DLC, and it's free for Legendary members. You'll be able to fight on your Home Turf in early 2013.
