[h=1]Will Dark Souls II Dial Back The Intensity? ESRB Rating Suggests It Might[/h]

Fans of the death dealing Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are no doubt anxious to get their hands on the upcoming Dark Souls II, but is recent word of the game's ESRB rating cause for concern about the contents of the game amongst series fans?

As a quick look at the ESRB rating for the game reveals, Dark Souls II has been rated "T" for Teen and states that the game, as expected, contains blood and gore, mild language, partial nudity and violence. As series vets will tell you, both Demon's Souls and the original Dark Souls were rated "M" for Mature. Obviously, this suggests that there is less of the gory goodness and morbid moments that made fans fall in love with the franchise in the first place, but all of the media we've seen thus far would leave you feeling otherwise (just watch above).

Here's the official description of the rating by the ESRB, but be warned that some mild spoilers lie ahead:

This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of an undead fighter in the realm of Drangleic. Players traverse dungeon-like settings and battle a variety of fantastical enemies (e.g., ghouls, zombies, skeletons, giant rats) to gain souls. Players use knives, swords, and arrows to defeat enemies. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain and small splashes of blood. Some locations depict instances of blood and gore: a giant snake boss holding its severed head; a giant boss creature composed of hundreds of corpses; dead ogres near a pool of blood; a torture device with streaks of blood. During the course of the game, a boss creature appears partially topless (e.g. hair barely covering breasts). The words 'bastard' and “pr*ck” can be heard in the dialogue.

So, what do you think? Can the rating indicate anything significant about the experience you can expect from Dark Souls II when compared to its predecessors or should series fans have nothing to fear (except the game itself of course…). Don't be scared to leave your thoughts in the comments below – as long as they're rated "T" for Teen of course;)

Dark Souls II hits the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 11 with a PC version to follow.

i do but only when recommending/giving such things to kids...video games recently have really upped the "adult factor" and u simply cant knw what they have by justplaying the game for 5 mins.

Nah. You'd never this kind of article for any other game. Journalists just love to get people's attention, and saying anything along the line of "Dark Souls II will be easier" or "Dark Souls II might not be as hardcore" gets a lot of clicks. It means nothing, no one gives a damn.

Games have upped the nudity, profanity, sexual content and gore. They've become more juvenile as far as I can see.

Good news for DS2 PC fans, Takeshi just confirmed PC release will be (hopefully) within a month of ps3 and Xbox release dates.

rumored PC release date is May 31st.

I was however planning for PC version at start than changed my mind to Ps3 and now again thinking of grabbing PC version rather ps3.

you'll be missing the epic online for the pc version (im assuming you're going for the pirated thingy).... and besides, that's around 1.5 months after the console release... im sure we'll be discussing how awesome the final boss was when you put it up for dl :tv:

nope going all legit, some games are bound to play the legit way.. either I am going to OFW my ps3 (bye bye to piracy) or borrow a ps3 from cousin to play this game online.

and this 1.5months delay is the only reason to go for ps3 version else PC with ps3 controller was fun playing DS1.

The May 31st release date is nothing but a rumor. FromSoftware's official site states they are aiming for a March 2014 release date. If they don't make it by then, then expect early April 2014.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.
