Tesco Is Listing Dark Souls II For Xbox One & PS4

Here’s an in interesting little puzzle for you. From Software have always denied that a next gen version of Dark Souls II exists, leaving it as a current gen title releasing next year. They considered creating a version of the incredibly Dark Souls II for the PS4 and Xbox One but decided against it.

So why are Tesco listing the game for the next generation?

This could go either two ways. One is that Tesco has managed to leak another title, just like they did with Call Of Duty: Ghosts, or option two, and this I feel is more likely, someone very hopeful has put this in the database, just like what happened with the Football Manager 2014 Vita at Shopto.

The teaser seems to be a Man At Arms type deal. Why Namco is wasting money on such advertisement is beyond me, no idea what "Dark Souls' universe is taking a surprising new form... Are you ready to meet...him?" supposed to mean either but please Namco, for the love of God don't f*ck this up. It's a niche game for a niche audience, don't go beyond your reach.

Next Gen listings are probably somewhat false. From Soft has been constantly saying that they have no intention of a next gen version and are completely focusing on the current gen and PC versions. It doesn't make sense that deny it so much and keep it a secret. But it does however, make sense that there's going to be a next gen Souls game. Demon's Souls 2 was listed for the PS4 not too long ago, so I'm taking it as another hint for that. The Xbox One version must have been listed as default or something. Fingers crossed for Gamescom (and/or TGS).

Overrated piece of crap. Played the first one and it was incredibly monotonous and boring. If this is the best they have to offer, then I'm certainly not impressed.

The most overrated. :tv:

The Souls series is a very tactical RPG. Its combat is probably the most precise you'll ever see in an RPG, because it's realistic and because it is realistic, it's not a hack 'n' slash fest. They said that didn't do a good job with the tutorial stage of DkS 1, that it could've been better and could've introduced players better to how the game works.

Try out DkS 2 when it comes out, they're emphasizing heavily on the tutorial stages to accommodate players better into the Souls series. If you still don't like it after that then this probably isn't the game for you.

So you've gotten a hang of the PvP? What kind of builds do you use?

I've played my heavy share of all sorts of RPGs. And despite what many people Abuses will lead to ban about, combat difficulty was the least deterrent, at least for me. I played it with a 360 controller on the PC, but it was so damn repetitive and wonky near the end, lost all interest in it. Maybe for you, Dark Souls is the best RPG ever, but it certainly isn't for me, I've played better and harder RPGs than this one (both on console & PC mind you).

I'll keep an eye out for DS2, but I'm not expecting much, since it'll most likely be more of the same.

Almost all the Dex builds are God-tier. And the Laito is my favorite katana, you sir have good taste.

Get Hyped for Dark Souls II PvP.

I'll post lots of offscreen pics from the beta if there isn't some sort of strict NDA on it.

Some more detail on the beta. Applications for the beat will be accepted form Set 5th to Oct 11th. Beta entry works as a lottery. There are 3 stages of the beta, if you don't get in to one stage, you'll have another chance on the other stage (not 100% sure about this though).

1st Stage: Starts 23rd Sep. (Japan Only)
2nd Stage: Starts 5th Oct; Worldwide test, includes player interactions only such as bloodstains and messages.
3rd Stage: Starts 20th Oct; Worldwide test, Summons and Invasions will be enabled.

The beta will be running on a tester version, so the NDA will be pretty strict. They obviously don't people getting the wrong impression from a tester build.

No dice man. As it is now they probably won't let you share the tiniest bit of detail. This is a real beta that's going to test out their network for the online component of Dark Souls II. It's less of a publicity stunt than a real system test. So a lot of bugs will be apparent and they don't want people getting the wrong impression 'cause of an unfinished version of the game.

They might be able to record the beta footage and post it on Youtube when the game's close to launch though.

^Oh god... that's just messed up and wrong. Especially that last one, kind of reminds me Kalameet though.

The Japanese Network Test application is going to be a strict lottery. Applications are possibly based on whether you've bought the Artorias Of The Abyss DLC for Dark Souls. I'm not quite sure though, someone on GAF posted the official Japanese Network Test site's content and ran it through google translate (google translate is not great). There are 3 separate tests and you might need invites to all 3 if you plan to play all of them, 1 invite might not get you all the way (again, google translate is not great). Whether this just for the Japanese version of the test isn't clear at the moment, NA and UK registration might be different.

In any case, the registration info should be up in the official Dark Souls II facebook page within 24 hours. I'm absolutely spamming the refresh button, my entry into the beta is a must.

It's here!

Purchase the ticket and wait for entry into the beta. It's only available for EU atm it seems. This kind of sucks for me 'cause my Dark Souls and Demon's Souls plats are on my main NA account. I would've definitely gotten into the beta with that account. :p

You can also download it from your PS3 if you sign in to your EU account, go to the store, under 'Games' and 'Latest Releases'. It should be listed there.

Here's the full facebook update:
