Thinking about grabbing a new controller. The old one's D-pad is starting to crap out. Pretty shitty that even on the years biggest sale its only a measly 35% off, but I guess this is as low as it'll go.

^ Necrokiller I bit the bullet and bought the 27'' 1080p monitor. It's a good replacement for the office room and the old 24'' monitor now sits as a TV in the guest room with an old spare Roku stick :p

Yes, it's only 3'' bigger, but in practice, I feel like I'm staring at a huge screen now. For $119 it seemed like a pretty good deal. There were Free Sync monitors around the same price, but considering I have an NVidia GPU, free sync would have been useless for me at all.

This is the monitor I got:

Looks like BB was lying when they said this is Black Friday deal because they already increased the price.

I hope you realize thats not an IPS panel. Its VA, which isn't to say that its bad. It sits between a TN an IPS panel.

Eh, it's not like I'll be doing any competitive gaming, 4ms response time and 60hz is good enough for my kind of usage in terms of gaming as well. The monitor does support 75hz as well but I'm keeping it on 60hz for the foreseeable future.

TN is best for hardcore competitive gaming because it reaches upto 240Hz refresh rate.
IPS provide the best image quality and color production (therefore, ideal for 30fps console gaming)
VA is kind of in between, better colors than TN at higher refresh rates (though less than TN).

And that is GTG (gray to gray) response time, not the display input lag.

Anyway, not a bad deal if you're satisfied with the quality. You can use this quick handy guideline for the future :p

I'm pretty sure my last monitor was a TN panel because it had terrible viewing angles but boasted a 1ms response time. But this one is definitely 'nicer' to look at things on. Better colors and contrast and .. maybe it's because the last one was a used monitor when I bought it .. I actually noticed ghosting on that panel especially in bright things, none on this one (so far).

Ah well, looks like my black friday shopping for this year is done :p

I think i'm good this time. I need to bury this urge to spend money. I have already spent thousands on games i still haven't played, lol. And not to mention the last Steam Sale, and how much money i ended up spending on it.

Not anymore. I'm good.
