TDKR, as awesome as it was, really doesn't deserve a nomination in my opinion. Loved the movie though, but there are too many other awesome films out there.

TDKR really didn't deserve any nomination. It's not like the nominations are gonna do it any good.

As for the awards, i haven't really seen almost 90% of the movies so i am totally clueless on most of the nominations.

Loved to see De Niro in there. After 21 years...damn

Pleasant Surprises:
Amour and Beasts of the Southern Wild getting so much recognition.
Both Hugh Jackman and Bradley Cooper score first time nominations.

Shameful Snubs:
Leonardo Dicaprio, Samuel L. Jackson for Django Unchained
Katheryn Bigelow and Ben Affleck for directing: biggest shockers
Paul Thomas Anderson is empty handed though his cast isn't.
No Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, John Hawkes or Maggie Smith
The Intouchables not nominated.

I don't see the directing nominations

I have a feeling that Zero Dark Thirty is going to end up taking the lion's share of the awards. The subject matter is just too personal especially when it comes to the Yanks.

I'd love to see Jennifer Lawrence pick up the best actress award but I think Jessica Chastain is the favorite there. 22 and 2 oscar nominations already, that is something.

Anne Hathaway and Daniel Day Lewis are a lock for their awards, it'd take a major upset to see them lose.

Amour will probably get the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon treatment though it's nice to see the academy showing it some love along with Beasts of the southern wild.

Speaking of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, directing honors should go Ang Lee. No one deserves it more this year.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
