Actually, Vortex was a term exclusive only to Akuma, but all of a sudden everyone started using it for ANY character with wake-up mixups that could reset the situation against the opponent. Okizeme and Vortex are different. Okizeme is just wake-up mixups, whereas the Vortex is the ability to set up a wake-up mixup that can leave the opponent in the same situation (i.e. in an un-techable/hard knockdown).

The first paragraph was basically just what I said. xD The second one though, is where I would have to disagree. Oki applies only to wake-up mixups in general, these mixups don't have to lead to a knockdown. Going in for a low attack vs an overhead after achieving a knockdown is Oki. The term "mixup" is much more broad, I think... It usually refers to any situation of ambiguity, not necessarily one after a knockdown.

i played sf2 back in days and i bought a SF4AE a week ago cuz some of my friends gave me a arcade stick as a gift. I basically learned all the akuma moves, focus attack and ultras in a weak. im getting good in basic combos like LP+roundkick+uppercut. I am noticing i am getting better.
I dont know about my playing style i guess. I was thinking of using either ibuki or vesper. Could someone also be kind enoght to explain what chargers are and what is plinking?
btw I played alot of cod and that game gets me so frustrated that i wanted to smash the controller. lol. But i love playing sf4 even tho i loose most of the time i have a smile on my face xD

Ibuki is one of the most technical characters in ssf4, but at the same time she is so much fun to play with. A total rush down character but due to her low health rushing down your opponent can be tricky so you have to rely on your mix ups and vortexing ( which takes alot of practice but your good with vortexing akuma it wont be a problem). Secondly her most damaging combos are the hard to execute .

Now the good stuff about ibuki.
Her TCs ( target Combos can be cancelled into her specials) .
She can be a quick finisher if your opponent does not know her match up.
She can SJC her normals and her Ultra 2 which is kinda hard( Sjc=super jump cancel which can confuse your opponent )
She has Two Air Target combos so that means it will be hard for your opponent to focus attack on you since they are two hit TCs).

As for P linking , as abbas mentioned its a execution technique which is used to double your chances of landing 1 frame links. One frame links is as close as you get cos they are the hardest to execute so basically P linking or Priority Linking adds a extra frame to your 1 frame link making it a two frame link but i think you should rely more on easier combos.

Since you just started with ssf4 i recommend you dont get into P linking, Double Tapping , Option Selects etc etc just concentrate on your basics . Pick your character first , for now lets say akuma. Master his Simple Bnbs( bread and butter Combos) , Work on your blocking . Learn how to Space with Focus attacks on all levels .

Secondly do you come online on psn or xbox cos if you can i strongly suggest you do . There are some fine pakistani players online and you can learn alot while playing with em.

Actually it can be punished if wiffed . If blocked it does take yun a great distance so you need to see how can your character punish the wiffed up kick .

i said it cant be punished hard,for example if u whiff a ryu hp srk,the opponent ryu can close hp,srk,fadc ultra,cant do that to yun,which makes it even more harder to punish with ryu for example if u dun have super,ultra imo wont hit him,yun's dp is like teleport but better.

Bro if you really want to learn ssf4 you will have to invest sometime into it. First i would suggest you go to youtube and see all the chapters of versperarcades tutorial . Actually start from the 4th chapter. Once you have seen it , most of your questions will be answered.

canceled into ultra means he can cancel the animation of the move into ultra so that if someone tries to punish the move he can be grabbed by akuma's ultra 1,Akuma's sweep(down+HK) can be canceled into ultra,Akuma's far HK can be canceled into ultra and super,when the meter in the bottom corner gets fired,it means u have an ultra when it gets full it means ultra will do full damage,its the meter where I or II is written.

i think you need to delay the tech a bit, but just a bit.... ive seen occasions where my crouching jab's animation starts but i still get grabbed... some frame BS probably

Anyway i got deso's fight stick, Thank you Amaga.Played a couple of matches with Asad and Ghalib Flash (aka Saad) playing on stick is alot of fun but your skill level drops to zero it's like starting a new game all of your save data has been lost and trophies reset. I have Amir bhai to teach me though lets see how it goes i hope i don't loose my temper and shift to controller.
