Xbox One powering on by itself

Hi,

So a strange thing has happened around 4 times in the tenure of 1 year.

My xbox would turn on by itself.

It has happened when a power would come back after load shedding.

It has happened when just sitting ideal and nothing is happening yet it would turn on by itself.

My xbox is not set to instant on. Infact my controller is not even configured with the xbox (i'm using it on the PC). The only way to turn on the console is by touching the power button in front of the console.

So what is causing this? Could my Home Theater be the culprit, could it be power surge or bad power adapter?

Please, lets avoid the ghost and jinn jokes for a moment and figure out a genuine reason :p

It could happen if you keep turning on and off the AC outlet powering your Xbox PSU. The Xbox power supply is designed to be left always on (even if it's on power saving mode)

other than that, I do feel it's your power supply as a culprit. Is it original, Chinese or one of those "converted" power supplies from 110v to 220v? You might wanna think about buying an original power supply and using a 110v output stabilizer.

Ok, next time check this. When your power comes on, is your controller on? If your controller is on and blinking then your Xbox will be turned on automatically. This happens to me during that 2-min load-shedding for no reason. The Xbox will turn off but the controller will be on and blinking due to no connectivity and when the power is back on, the controller will autmatically turn on the Xbox One, pretty neat I think.

I haven't experienced this thing with my Xbone may because its on an UPS ? you should try changing your power supply maybe its having trouble regulating power voltage from the mains

if you have a xbox 360 falcon power supply it will also work perfectly with the Xbone with an adapter cable .

Thank you all for the replies. I have the 110V converted to 220V PSU. Atleast that's what I was told when I bought it.

I think it probably is my PSU acting up. It's either this or my XBox unit (doubtful). A new PSU costs around 7K lol. That's steep :(

I had a falcon psu but I gave it away to friend - would've been a smarter choice to keep it. I'll buy a new XB1 PSU sometime next month, I think that would be the best bet.

Lets see if the problem persists with the new PSU *fingers crossed*

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
