Why are houses here so poorly designed?

But they cost more to rebuild too if damaged, and with heat concrete walls expand more and starts cracking which ruins the paint and then when it rains.....

After building of the concrete structure, they use water to take out any heat that is inside it for a few days.
that way, the heat trapped inside will come out and the structure will become stronger.
reducing the heat expansion greatly.

Cracks will not happen for a loooooooooong time.

And for heat traps, if you build your ceiling high enough or by adding a ventilation spot towards the upward, you will not suffer any sort of heat traps for the whole day.

maybe rarely in 30 years.
and repairing isnt all that hard.

A full renovation only requires dropping one wall and putting up another.

Bam done! my dads old house is still standing and was built when he was just a kid :p

hardly any cracks.

plus, the house we're renovating, which included putting up a new wall, expansion of 2 floors and rebuilding of 3 rooms, Without dropping it.

Concrete structures are more tough then you think. :D

I saw a house some days ago, it was built 2-3 years ago and it had pretty big cracks in the wall, the house i'm currently living in has those cracks too and there are these bubbles forming on one of the walls, sloppy job by the builder maybe?

Concrete is nice but the one thing I hate the most about it is when you try to put a nail in a wall, it always gets messy, with each bang the hole gets bigger and bigger ;)

Quality vary firm to firm.

The house you saw was built by shit people it seems.

What I told you is how it is done.

Just one house doesn't mean every other is bad.

always have proper supervision when you're building a house, if you cant do it.
HIRE someone to do it FOR YOU.

As it is a very delicate matter and these firms try to find cheaper ways to finish the construction while taking home undesired money.
EG, HARAM.

As for putting holes in concrete, that is a matter of common sense.
Use a drill to cause minimal damage.

Why the heck would you bang it up is beyond me. Lol

May I ask your age?

Being a Civil Engr, I wish I had all the time to address all of your problems from the OP till this post but time doesn't allow me to.

Although I can answer you this simple matter that a lot of people face, that is "hole getting bigger and bigger on fixing a nail". That's because a number 2 block being used for masonry. Compressive strength of a block should always match your requirements and proper testing from a good lab should be carried out before hiring the block supplier. Even if you're planning to construct and sell, a difference of cost between good block vs bad block would be just peanuts.

You can't always use a drill machine, and I thought using a hammer was something almost everyone did, btw thanks for all the info everyone.

I think people are forgetting that Pakistan is bigger than Lahore and Karachi. The climate in Northern regions definitely warrants fireplaces and insulation, but I don't know how houses are like there. Fireplaces are more associated with luxury than weather, though. So that's a possible explanation.

You don't drill to put in a nail, I have stopped using nails altogether tho, the verbal whopping session from the mom were getting too much but then again I did create a 4 inch wide hole every time I tried to hammer a nail in. Sometimes even the drill manages to create a big ass hole

Its Pakistan bhai. Areas heavily populated like FB AREA, GULSHAN, NORTH NAZIMABAD, JOHAR and many more. The main reason houses suck here is that because ppl dont even know what an architect does. Everyone here is his/her own architect, they make houses they way they like without considering these things like the need of a fireplace, emergency exits, attics, insulations and etc. Insulation should be a big need in pakistan considering the heat we face in summers. IT will lower the energy we consume for cooling hence making a big difference in energy consumption of cities and country.

People are reluctant to hire a consultant only big companies do. People here just do what they like plus even big builders here are more jaahil than the regular awam so their work sucks so bad.

The houses have no garage, basement, attic, no hvac or fireplace, poor insulation and draining system, they all have flat roof and why is the parking space always right in front of the entrance door?
Everyone is focusing these days on cheap housing schemes to save money.
If you want to make one, you gotta have the good dough.

houses prices have gone sky rocketed now , that most of the new gen can't afford to build there own houses here due to low salaries and most of them are earning under 1 lac per month while expenses are way above to save savings for own house , all they depend now is living in houses of there parents , with partitioned floors with diff siblings living .

But if you have enough Money u can do what ever you want its all about money , hell u can even build a swimming pool on the roof top
