PTCL EVDO connect @3.1 Mb/Sec so divide 3100 by 8, you get 387.5 KB/Sec, thats the max throughput that the EVDO REV.A is capable of.
As for the actual speed it depends on three factors total percentage of signals recieved closer to 100% better the speed, your distance from the BTS (Tower) and number of users connected through that BTS (Tower) to EVDO.
It's a good thing to use on the move or with notebooks for downloading torrents, but it is no alternate to DSL.
BTW, there are two version of the EVDO card the pcmcia and usb, with about two years of use of this device I could safely say PCMCIA version is much better than its usb counterpart in terms of signal reception and download.
