Whats The Download Speed on PTCL EVDO?

Hello ,
Can you all please tell me how much Download nd upload speed you get on PTCL Evdo? i may get it . i can pay 2000 per month if it really deserves it :S

Well i asked WC people not the ptcl and they were saying that a speed of 120kbps is guranteed on EVDO and same thing will go for PTCL what i think..
Overall its a good thing for people on the move

My father uses it. The speed depends upon the distance from the ptcl towers. The download speed varies fron 150-270kBps according to your location.

I have used ptcl evdo and still have it but i got my dsl connection yesterday only becoz online gaming is impossible with this evdo....moreover my area is called dead zone. no oridanary network works here anyhow i was getting speeds from 50 to 150 on first sotrey of my home and 200 + on the third storey..... it goes to a peak of 250 ......but it usuaaly have a signal burst problemo sometimes its good sometimes not ..simply its not consistent with speed and online gaming is impossible......if you are near to a ptcl tower (with cdma evdo) u'll get a good speed if not it will convert to cdma 1x and youll get speed just like ptcl v wireless

But dont get your hopes up, these speeds are dependent upon the distance from the tower.

PTCL EVDO connect @3.1 Mb/Sec so divide 3100 by 8, you get 387.5 KB/Sec, thats the max throughput that the EVDO REV.A is capable of.
As for the actual speed it depends on three factors total percentage of signals recieved closer to 100% better the speed, your distance from the BTS (Tower) and number of users connected through that BTS (Tower) to EVDO.
It's a good thing to use on the move or with notebooks for downloading torrents, but it is no alternate to DSL.
BTW, there are two version of the EVDO card the pcmcia and usb, with about two years of use of this device I could safely say PCMCIA version is much better than its usb counterpart in terms of signal reception and download.

Yar am i missing somethin here? I have ptcl EVO and honestly the speed suxxx big time. Am actually dreading the day I got it without doing proper research :'(. My dl speed is no way near even 50kbps. I live in defence Lahore. Signal strength is alwayz max. Oh and their customer service is totally shit.

PTCL EVO USB or PCMCIA, if it is USB then it alright coz their USB devices are technologically crap. USB either of Huawei or ZTE both real crap.
PCMCIA is much better.
Besides you need to check if you device is connected in REV0 or REV A mode.

To remove any doubts among other members, he is referring in Kilobits per second, so that'll be around 43KBps -56KBps which is somewhat the same as I am getting nowadays. It used to go to 200KBps+ during off-peak hours, but even those days are gone now.

Most people dont know about this fact so They still write the 'b' in small to show the Bytes. And i am pretty sure he means KiloBYTES.

People normally receive 200+ during normal timings.
And he was referring to the download speed which in this case is true if the distance to the tower is good and if your exchange is generous lol

well i did check the ptcl evo at my area n it was lke 20-40 kb but now a days i am using world call evdo n i am getting 150kb on 512kb connection so it will be around 300kb on 1mb conection .......still its abt distance from a repective tower.
