Using Non-PTA Approved phones?

They replied and asked for IMEI. After that they are not replying to email. Do you have any email address for escalation.

It took them exactly 2 weeks to reply and resolve a similar issue in my case back in early April, I only sent them one email with a picture of my phone (both IMEIs visible) and asking to approve the second IMEI slot, first slot was already approved. I never used the second slot so it wasn't in their database.

Is the passport approval thing still working or has PTA disabled it?

I need a confirmed answer with a valid source, not assumptions.

It still works I guess, just takes longer for them to approve, I submitted an application on 20th last month for my new phone, the status right away said "Verified, Not approved" and shows 0.0000 PKR tax along with saying that I have availed tax exemption on one mobile device in an year. The application is still pending as not approved though, so I am just waiting.

After the mass passport data abuses and removal of 1 free passport rule, their email inbox must be filling up every day.

They should implement an email support ticketing system like kayako support or zendesk. This helps keep things organized. Every run of the mill hosting provider has one while over here in Pakistan even large organizations don't use one.

Get their Valid Passport no, CNIC no, contact no, Name, Email etc all the basic details. & Head over to PTA DIRBS website and Sign up/create a new account with all the aforementioned details.

And file for COC (Certificate of Compliance) via your newly created profile. Selecting the international traveler option. Instead of Courier or local option.

As the international traveler is allowed to register one phone free of cost within 60 days of arrival in Pakistan via baggage rules.

So filing for COC should be straight forward task, if you submit correctly then almost immediately you'll get your phone Complaint with PTA & Even if you make a mistake then contact/email PTA at: [email protected]

I'm trying to register using this method. I just made an account on their website, but when i try to login it says "Account is inactive".

Does it take time for the account to get activated? Or is there some other issue?

I know there's the rumor of the service being blocked, but I know someone who recently activated.

You have to verify the account from the verification email that they send.

Check your email spam folder.

Yeah, i just checked. I'm proceeding with the process. I'll update how it goes.

Well i have completed the process, but it is showing tax of Rs.7150 instead of Free.

What does this mean? Did i do a mistake (i don't think so), or is it because the free registration is disabled? (on the above status field, it is showing "In process" though.

Also, i wouldn't have to pay the ridiculous tax amount (for an aging Note 3 worth 10k itself) do i? I can just ignore that right?

Free registration was removed from 1st July. Now everyone has to pay duty.

I have been mailing them to whitelist list my second SIM since 3 May still no response.

That sucks. These PTA people have no empathy.

Oh well, this phone will be used as a simless mini-tablet now. Nobody would pay that absurd amount of tax for it.

For anyone having second SIM slot blocked. Visit PTA office in F5. Your blocked slot will be unblocked in 48 to 96 hours.

That is how I got my issue resolved. Email or telephonic conversation will not help.
