Upgrading CPU

Are there any problems associated with buying a used processor?
Would a Core2Duo make a big difference in gaming compared to a pentium DualCore E2160?
Please note that I can not purchase from PG maket place due to security reasons so I am only talking about purchasing from places like Naz Plaza or Uni Plaza or perhaps TechnoCity.

if u are getting rom trusted person then no problem...and pg has good market place then original market...shops loot leti hain...but its ur choice...any core 2 duo or pentium dual core processor with 2.8ghz speed will make huge difference over e2160

Depends on your budget. Get Pentium Dual Core E6500 or Core2Duo E7400 or E7300 and you'll see a lot of difference

I know PG has a great market and even a system to check if someone can cheat you but my parents aren't convenced so for security reasons I can not go to pick up the item or tell a stranger my address on the internet to deliver it to my house.

If you have around 6-7k for the update then go for an E6600 or an E5800 (whichever your motherboard supports)

dont go for e6600 its 2.4ghz core 2 duo and e5800 has 800Mhz fsb so get Dual-core 6 series or core 2 duo 7 or 8 series...but this depend on your budget..tell ur budget and we will guide u best processor

I meant the dual core E6600 not the C2D. Sure the E5800 has 800 FSB, but its performance is very good.

get a e6500 or e6300 used and you need atleast 2gb ram for gaming also for gaming a dual core 3.ghz processor is enough you only need a good graphics card and thats all

Now, I have already bought a Core2Duo E7300 2.66 Ghz
Will this show a significant difference from my old E2160 1.8 Ghz?
PCSX2 is still not giving 60 FPS with this.

That was a bad move Sohaib. You should have gone with a brand new pentium dual core e5700 which would have been faster than the e7300 you bought. It would have cost you Rs. 5800 and come with a 3 year warranty as well.

Anyway games tend to be GPU bound so upgrading your GPU is the next step.

Apparently you are impressed with "Core2Duo" processors, which is why you've upgraded to a Core2Duo ... if you understand what i am trying to say here.
What people dont realize mostly that Core2Duo is just a BRAND NAME. Actual power depends on the Processor's Specifications. A Pentium Dual Core e6500 is faster than a Core2Duo 4xxx series. Under the hood, its just a Dual Core.

You bought this for 6k where you could've bought some e8400 in 7.5-8k from PG Market Place. Remains the question of Security, then the Trader Scores here are given for a reason. You should've told this to your parents.

Anyways, The processor you just bought, this is not going to make a HUGE difference in performance, but it WILL give you enough performance boost to justify the upgrade, considering you are coming from a mere 1.8Ghz e2160 having 800Mhz FSB and only 1MB L2 Cache.


Now i am amazed you did not mention anything about your intentions for the processor, where you just bought it because you were trying to run PCSX2 emulator on it.
Well brother, you just wasted your 6k there. Because PCSX2 needs a much powerful processor to work 'good enough'. Atleast a e8400 overclocked upto 3.8Ghz (1600Mhz FSB) OR a Quad Core preferably (even a Q6600).
It also needs more and fast ram, atleast 4GB and atleast 800Mhz.
PCSX2 is not at all GPU dependent. It takes its whole power from CPU and Ram.

So there you go, if you wana use PSCS2 only, get yourself a Quad Core and More Ram i.e. 4GB. You may use the current GPU with it because its not going to make much difference anyway.

PCSX2 does not use quad core, according to its own developer comments.
BlackOps and Dead Rising 2 did gain a performance boast. I have yet to try GTA4 and Witcher 2.
