So, as most of you might know; I passed my O'Levels with 5A*s, 2As and 1B in Aug 2014. Now, I'm doing FSC Pre-Engg from GCU, Lahore(because uni entry test issues). Now, I aim to get into NUST after FSC and I have a few questions:
1. Do I need to appear for ECAT in order to study engineering at NUST? If yes, then do I also have to give NUST's own entry test?
2. What are the minimum marks I need in first year to get in? Considering second year doesn't really matter cause you have already given the entry test and just require passing marks.

Anxiously waiting. :)

Obtaining UK study visa is much easier than getting admission in Pakistani university
why you always so dishearted , well what you say is so true , but that's what is pakistan , this country make you more solid then any component in the world , here life will gonna hit you with every second and its not about hit back its about endure it , people whom graduate from pakistani universities , they outperform any one out there in the world , because they live there whole life in all those physical and psychological stress which make other jobs outside of Pakistan is like piece of cake .

well if getting admission feel you like that hard then my friend , climbing mount everest is much easy then 10 or 30 min job interview , where recruiter may gonna fail you just because your single word and kick your 4 year of studies , you need perfect age time to get degree , you need perfect looks , you need perfect voice pitch , and you know why this all thing is so hard because there are so MANY of us here now (dat population bomb) .

in yesterday meeting , regrading ISO implementation , at one point my department head told me that , "yar tum logon nay to merit hi khatam kardia , in our time 60% consider as good because its full on merit , but here we got CV's of people who got 98% through there 4 year of studies" , more over he also mention , "back then when i start my career in HR , for any position its like 100 CV max , even some time we had to go on field to find people , but now its like 1000 or 10000 people , to whom its hard to find one and which some time is become biased decision" .

well regarding the topic , no its not like that , 2nd year marks are equally important as 1st year marks , as no matter if you cleared the test , they gonna offer the seat to some one else who may got less marks in test but at the end got more marks in FSC , as they usually take 200 people in consideration for 50 seats , regarding to there FSC 1st year % and there test marks , so at the end they sum it up like FSC 1st year + Test Marks + FSC 2nd year . That's what once karachi NUST campus guy told me , but its better to asked from them at there help line .

So even if I opt for engineering, I can get in NUST without ECAT.

True but I meant that you need not to aim for very high marks if you do good in first year and entry test.

Going abroad is out of the question atm. Maybe for masters.

FSc/A level marks only account for 15% of the admission percentage aggregate. It all depends on the entry test.
and imagine you just lose by a single mark . :p , but its become pretty close at marking scale , as consider it in that way , it almost like 500-1000 people who appear in test where number of seats are just 50 or 70 , so its head to tail competition , you don't have chance to lose a single space . Either O level or FSC , you need a really good track record along with test marks as 25% is still based on previous educational record .

Ye khushfehmi kahan se aye? You need 60% marks when you clear your FSc to be eligible for admission in NUST. They give preliminary admissions if your result isn't out. If you don't get 60%, you won't get into NUST despite whatever marks you get in the entry test.

The thing is, if you're good enough to get preliminary admission to NUST, the 60% requirement is just a formality.

By passing marks, I meant anything above 65-70%. I meant you don't have to aim for 85-90+%.

Btw, thank you everyone for your replies. My problem is solved. Please close the thread, mods.
