Here we are. It's that time of the year... again.
Samsung really surprised me with a phone call this morning saying my phone was ready for collection, while previously having said we'd get it after the 15th, it was quite nice to hear that they sent the units early.

First impressions are that design wise, not much has changed. The frame now has a matte finish instead of the glossy black they had last year. Fingerprint scanner position... isn't great, I preferred the S8 one to be honest.
You won't be able to see the back since it's already covered with a dbrand skin :p

More to say in a while once I've actually used it properly:

Congratulations, any review on its camera?
Low light performance is insane. Took a shot last night at around 10 PM, the street lights were fairly dim but the photo looked great. Will try getting a few more shots today and upload them.

Congrats! The dBrand skin looks slick!
Thanks. :D

Congrats!!! How did you preorder? Where can i find dbrand skins locally?
Pre-orders were available at any official Samsung Store (list of stores was given on Samsung Pakistan's website). Go to that store with a copy of your CNIC, fill out the form, pay 20k advance and the remaining amount when you go to collect the phone. They kept saying it would arrive between 15th and 20th March, but it arrived much earlier.

I didn't get the skins locally, dBrand ships to Pakistan, so I just ordered them off their website and they shipped it here and conveniently it arrived on the exact same day that I got my phone.

Pretty close to being the perfect phone. I just wish its camera was clearly better than Google's last year's offerings.

That skin looks awesome. I've been thinking about getting dbrand skins but the 20$ shipping.. (that's what it costs right?)

Camera is a significant improvement over the S8, but yeah, it's not in Pixel territory.

Yes, dbrand charges $20 for shipping.

Which is kinda sad really. Pixel is last year's phone.. The camera module is better.. It's the software magic where Samsung has been left in the dust. Hopefully they'll improve, fast.

And 20$ shipping is a bit too much. They offer free shipping to India -_-

It's expensive but it's FedEx express so it arrives in like 3 days. :D

I don't use Intelligent scan, all these face unlock things seem like stupid gimmicks.

The fingerprint scanner is great on this. The S8 one used to occasionally go wrong, but this one never does. It's extremely quick to unlock and very reliable. They've also included the swipe down gesture so you can swipe down on the fingerprint scanner to bring down your notifications.

Wow congratz, you seem to like samsung a lot lately, no doubt they make great phone but my only gripe is the redundancy in OS. Very cool skin too, can you sharebthe details? From where can one buy dbrand skins, what it costs finally, are they to be applied personally?

Got it directly from dBrand's website. They ship to Pakistan using FedEx at a flat rate of $20. Regardless of whether you order one skin, or 10 skins. It's $20.

Skins are usually between $7 and $12 depending on the phone and other options you choose when buying the skin.

You apply them yourself after watching the YouTube tutorial from dbrand's channel. Fairly easy on Samsung phones since the skin does not fold over on to the metal frame, so it's just applying one large piece to the back glass. It's harder for some phones, and quite easy for others.

Just pulled the trigger and ordered Whitestone Domeglass. Expensive purchase, but I really want a glass-like feel without having to actually use the phone naked.

Let us know how the installation goes. Can't justify $50 for a screen protector when I'm terrible at installing them and the protector has mixed reviews even for people who got the installation right.

I've been using the phone without a screen protector all this time, and except for one really weird looking scratch which showed up on the first day, it's been holding up quite well, the screen still looks great.
