Hi guys, it's finally my turn, after gaming on my ps3 on a very old 22"SDTV, my parents have finally agreed to buy me a good TV. ( I just asked for a monitor though. :| )

I don't want anything really fancy like a smart or 3DTV, just need a FullHD TV with a good size and good reliability.

Company I'm looking for: Any make you think is reliable, I've heard Sony, Samsung, Nobel, Panasonic are the best, but you guys be the judge of that!

Size: Anything between 32" and 42".

Price: The most cost effective solution, I was hoping to get a 40" TV in the 45k range if possible.

Please do take these things in mind for your recommendations, also if you can, please tell me where I can go BUY it, in Karachi Ofcourse.

I also saw a good LCD TV by the make of ' Changhuang Ruba ' it was a 40" for 43k, Full HD, now, is changhong ruba reliable??

Oh and the TV will be used for me playing the Ps3, ( and my parents and brother occasionally watching cable, but any TV would suffice for them watching cable. )

So, with all those things in mind, I look forward to your recommendations!

Thank you!

OK for one don't even consider Changuang Ruba. That's shit. Try finding a 40" Bravia or a 37" LG 1080p. They'll easily come in 45k.

Samsung 40" EH5000 is available for 54.5k at homeshopping so if you go to the market the prices will be a little lower than this, and don't go for the chinese brands..

Btw for things like this, it is better to go to the official retailers right? Like E4U or The Sony centers?

Ill keep an eye out for the ones you mentioned.

Btw the Internet is full of LG problems with Ps3, so I think I should stay away from LG

Hmm, I'll have to look around a bit. My Dad won't be satisfied until I have information about every TV there is.

Anyone know where the TCL Nobel showroom is located??

So I went to the Sony centres, upon seeing the prices I was like.. " it's time to bail "

Then I went to E4U, I was slightly relieved to see MUCH better prices, here are the models I looked for;

Sony 32EX330 - 46k ( same price both at centre And at E4U
Samsung 32EH4000 - 37.5k
LG LS3400 - 37k

The clerk said that Samsung is the best, now obviously leaving Sony aside ( seriously, and they say that their TV division bleeds money ) I have a choice between Samsung and LG, I'm thinking Samsung.

So what are your opinions on the wares, they are all LEDs btw.

I will be going to visit the TCL NOBEL showroom tomorrow for further viewing.

aap nay budget nahin bataya?? i like monitors though... they are built for gaming... the input output lag is very little in them and you won't be able to notice them but on a tv it is very very noticeable... but for console gaming, i don't think it would be a problem... get a really good tv... budget options are either old or just meh... full hd isn't everything... check the picture quality out first...

True, but the thing is since my parents don't care about all that and I need an HD TV, MOST to ALL of the games on the Playstation 3 run on 720p, so the higher resolution won't even matter, next to that, on a 32" it would be hard to note the difference of 720p and 1080p

Did u decide on what you bought, cause i see your decision is deviating from the concerns ppl are sharing with you and I really am happy that members of Pg really go out of their extend to help out others. If you are happy on the purchase and your parents agree then proceed taking advice from this thread, else i will have to lock it down.

Ofcourse, I have searched on many forums including this one, I have gathered valuable information such as what to look for, which brand to go for ( I was getting inclined to changhong ruba at one point, until I was advised not to by murtaza12 ), I have also suggested the model that syedfarazahmed had said, And kept away from Samsung centre because of the advice I received, The concern raised by overrana was noted and I searched on various places about it, and gave the reply which I understood from the best of my research.

The value and advice I received from Pakgamers was much appreciated ( I even searched year old threads about my case before proceeding to make a thread on this ).

Also, I would have bought this online, either from here ( be it by you or any other trusted member ) a website like homeshopping ( which was also suggested ), But I'm afraid my parents ( who are buying it ) have the... unconventional attitude of not trusting to buy ANYTHING which requires to even be remotely related to online shopping.

Again, I Reiterate, that I have taken EVERYONES advice into consideration, from this forum and the others about this, and I thank you all for it. :)

As an update: Since I've already checked the prices in the shops and all, I will, InshaAllah, buy it soon ( my parents will be the ones paying, Ofcourse.), my eye went towards the 40" model that syedfarazahmed suggested.

I went and saw the LED you suggested, so I'm going for that one, thank you. If I get a chance I'll ask if the 3D TV you wanted is available there.

1 thing, it had a refresh rate of 100hz, is that good enough?
